Celtics Blow 17-Point Fourth Quarter Lead in Tough Loss to Cavs

Lebron James scored 41 points and the Celtics blew a double-digit lead fourth quarter lead as they fell to the Cavaliers tonight, 122-121, tonight at the TD Garden.

The Celtics kept this contest competitive throughout, keeping things even through the first half before jumping out to a 17-point advantage after the third. They were led by Kelly Olynyk's 21, with Jeff Green and Jared Sullinger each pitching in 19 and Rajon Rondo recording 16 assists.

In spite of all those contributions, though, the Celtics were unable to emerge victorious in this one, getting out-scored 38-20 in the final 12 minutes to drop to 3-5. They actually had a chance to win it in the final seven seconds, but due to Rondo's inability to control his dribble and get a shot off, the final buzzer ultimately sounded without anything meaningful happening.

So yes, the Celtics again fell to a tough opponent in even tougher fashion this evening, the second time they've done so in three days. They will now prepare to face the Suns Monday when the latter makes their annual trip to Boston.
