Comments from the Other Side - ECF Game 5 Cavs 5/23/18

 Great heart by the Celtics in this one.  I just love these guys.  They never give up and they just keep going no matter the odds against them.  Cavs fans are so bad.  They take shots at Celtics fans for whining about the refs and then proceed to whine throughout the game about the refs.   And they trash their own team constantly.  Refs in this game missed some calls but they didn't call it one way and they let both teams play.   If they feel that way about them, why even watch?  Love how they talk about the Celtics pushing and shoving and being dirty when it was JR Smith who gave Al a 2 handed shove when he was in the air and it was Nance who came out swinging at Morris.   I'd really like to close this out in 6.  As always, my favorites are in bold.  What are yours?

I'm worried about Boston catching fire early/us not bringing the defensive intensity from the jump.

Boston media is melting down over the officiating. Ummmm, your team fouls every possession and gambles the foul won't be called. That's been the case for four years. You call it "masking deficiencies" all you want, but the Celtics foul a **** ton.

That game four was ****ing ridiculous. It'd unimaginable that they are complain about refs.

Their board was full of guys complaining about the refs too.. I guess when you expect all the calls you get pissed about only getting 85% of them.

Is it weird to be nervous for a game 5 when we have game 6 at home?

Not really. Celtics are so good at home and we have to steal one.

That crowd is unreal

Always is. This is the crowd I think is the best in the NBA, not the Warriors.

Celtics 105, Cavs 90. Celtics get it together, and the Cavs go cold again. Refs give Boston more than enough help, and LeBron gets too tired to attack the rim, with the refs just letting Boston hammer him with impunity.

I think the way we played at home, as well as in game 2 has me pretty confident we will win this game, whether it's a close one or blowout.

Celtics were mad at officiating in Cleveland.

Boston's been full of shit since Red Auerbach was there. He's the guy that refused to draft Bob Cousy to "please the local yokels" -- then ended up with him in the dispersal draft. He once said that Julius Erving was a nice kid but not a very good basketball player. When the ABA folded he screamed that the Celtics would never allow the 3 point shot -- then changed his mind and rammed it through once he had Larry Bird. He's the guy who, ILLEGALLY, dashed to the bench in Game 5 of the 1976 series after Tommy Heinsohn was ejected -- of course the referees let him do it.

But that's nothing compared to the homer calls they've received over the years - Game 2 in 1976, Game 2 in 1985, Game 4 in 1985 (that one was at the Coliseum) -- not even Penn State or the Domers get the homer calls that they do. I despise that franchise, its players, its fans, its front office, its coaches, the city, the whole state. Massholes, every one of them.

One thing I can’t help but respect about Boston’s fans is the way that they consistently get rowdy for good defense. It’s not many crowds that absolutely erupt over solid off-ball defense forcing a turnover in quarter 1.

I cannot stand JR. I still don’t understand why he gets constant passes from fans. He probably has the lowest basketball IQ of any player I’ve ever seen. He is an absolute detriment to the team for 15-game stretches, then he has two or three games where he is happening to hit the moronic shots he makes a habit out of taking and people forgive everything. He’s a bad player and takes shots like he thinks he’s a superstar.

Our role players get to Boston and forget how to play basketball.

I hope these refs tear their ACLs.

Having Nance or TT in is basically telling the Celtics center to not guard them and double any paint action

I would really like Marcus Smart if he weren’t a Celtic. He has the type of game I have a soft spot for with the weird type of basketball I enjoy, and he also seems to show a lot of leadership. Just now he was the first person to rush in with the intention of breaking things up rather than escalating them.

Love Nance for doing this. One of the Celtics needs a spinning back fist asap.

The Celtics played only 7 guys for majority of the game. Just like Houston did last night. Who are our 7 guys we ride to the end with.
