He really is. Boston got really lucky that they traded for him and he suddenly turned into a star. If they never did that they'd still be rebuilding for many years.
Offensively he is. His RPM is actually slightly over +1, which has been sort of the norm for him throughout his career, and it's because of his defense. As good as he is on one end of the court, he's equally as bad on the other side. I don't understand why teams just don't take advantage of it and get him into foul trouble..
They will in the playoffs. And once he starts making the max people will start to point out his deficiencies more.
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how teams play him. The scouting report for him is to wear him out on defense, get him in foul trouble, and then make him a volume shooter on offense by keeping him off the line. If he's going to score 30 points, make him take 28-30+ shots to do it.
Yeah I agree. I also think its when Horford will make more of a presence. But its one of the reasons why they are even considering getting another star player.

I'm a little puzzled that Kevin McHale doesn't think that Butler is enough for Boston. When, exactly, will Boston's future draft picks become 24/6/5 guys on 59% TS%, with excellent defense? And why, exactly, would adding a wing with those abilities not propel a team that is on pace to win 55 games already into elite territory?
Boston doesn't have a rim protector who can bother Jimmy. He is getting his shot at will when he drives. He needs to do that more and stop with the long jump shots.

The way Boston plays, it will be hard to put a player like Butler around them. I really don't think Butler is a good fit for Boston. The 2 teams I think Butler makes better, Minnesota and Philly. If Thomas can score late in the game, I see no need for Butler on that team. But honestly, at the end of the day, Boston doesn't scare me and I think the Bulls match up well against them.
