Comments from the Other Side - Blazers 2/10/17

Great effort by the Celtics after they finally woke up and came back from that 17 point deficit.  Loved that Smart, Rozier and Green came up big in the absence of Jae.  I loved that dunk by Green.   I feel for the Blazers fans who are going through a tough season.  I love that Marcus was getting some love in this one for his defense instead of just complaints about his flops.  My favorites are in bold.  What are yours?

BOS on second of back to back after a bad loss to the Boogie-less Kings last inght. I bet they will have a 15 point lead in the first quarter.

Isaiah Thomas has been on a rampage this season. Averages 30 a game on 46 percent FG, 38 percent from three

MVP candidate

What are the odds of Thomas going over 50 pts tonight? Put me down for over.

I feel like we either see Dame go off. Isaiah Thomas go off. or both.

Another thing to take into consideration. Isaiah Thomas is crazy in the 4th quarter, been using Dames dame time gesture. I think Dame might be a bit bothered by it so we might see a very competitive dame tonight. Yeah I went deep on this one but you never know, I could see Dame secretly taking it personal

One of those nights I could see the blazers collapsing and isiah Thomas scoring 40. Hope not though.

Jaylen Brown is basically warming up in tights, not sure I've seen that before

The Blazers are playing the "Cheers" theme song at the Moda Center as the Celtics players are being introduced. Nice touch

It'll be interesting to see how the Blazers defend Isiah Thomas. He's a short guy, so I suppose either Lillard or CJ can indeed guard him.

A shalacking and a wrist tap in Thomas' face would be nice

I'm actually really interested to see how Dame goes about this, per Casey he said he doesn't mind IT stealing his thingy, but I wouldn't be surprised if Dame has it in his head that he wants to show him up!

HELLO EVERYONE, WHERE EVER YOU MAY BE… THIS IS PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZER BASKETBALL

By Blazer basketball do you mean we will blow a lead in the second half?

I bet Sacramento and PHX are seriously regretting giving up on Isaiah Thomas. Every time I look at his stats I'm utterly stunned that somebody that small can put up practically 30 PPG

Horford would have been such a great pick up.

We're taking Thomas away pretty well so far.

We're playing some solid basketball. Best we've looked all year

Refs bet on us tonight. Sweet.

Who is Rozier? Never heard of him

Scrubby SG in a PG body who thinks he's better than he is. In other words the type we should probably look out for because he'll probably have the best game of his life against us tonight.

He almost killed us in Boston.

I don't remember him....sounds like a Canadian hockey player

Are we showcasing Connaughton to the patriots I mean Celtics?

Where's Avery Bradley now huh? HUH?

Officials letting them play a little

Dame got murked by that meh pick, luckily Smart is a bum

Lol. Did somebody just foul Aminu shooting a 3?

You gotta respect a 15% shooter...

Aminu fouled on a 3. Why would any defender ever do that—just let him have the shot wide open and he’ll be sure to brick it.

Thomas reminds me of Harden. That's not a compliment.

Cmon--no reason to even give olynyk hope

IT may be one of the only starting guards in the league that are actually worse than Dame on defense.

Just saw a report that IT had his watch stolen on the flight into pdx…I bet smart snatched it

Hey, a guy on the other team wears Dame's shoes. That’s pretty neat.

Which one?

Rozier, Casey said on the radio. Said he was big fan of Dame in college.

Boston's coverage on the roll man sucks. What gives?

Fricking dirty olynyk

That wasn't really a dirty play though

I’m still suspicious after what he did to Kevin Love

Honestly, I didn't even think that was a very dirty play...it looked pretty accidental to me

If we win and Dame doesn't do the wrist tap then did we really win?

Connaughty vs green Two of the greatest athletes of our time going at it

Meyers should try to get ejected with Thomas next time. We'll take that trade.

F*** Isayah Bitch Face Thomas.

I suffer from Scott Foster rage....

Boston is a good team. This is impressive.

Isaiah Thomas: 2-10 from the field, 0-4 from deep, 6 pts.

Say what you will about meyers He sets great screens…..best on the team by a wide margin

I tend to agree, although I feel he gets away with A LOT of moving screens

Getting away with stuff is part of being good. Just ask the Golden State Warriors. And the Patriots

Lol, IT being so short got him blocked lol

Go away IT you little bum.

Shoulda called him a midget

It's not that hard to make a legitimate common foul memorable. Just ask Kelly Olynyk.

Casey just called Thomas a dum dum!

I see the Third Quarter Meltdown starts early.

Boston is out-hustling Portland now.

Thomas is a punk. I hope he picks up a second T before halftime.

Do you know how long it took ET to put on two chains with one hand?!

Aminu with the superstar calls, carry on.

I have never seen Aminu draw this many fouls.

Did Aminu eat a vending machine sandwich with basketball IQ worms in it?

I THINK WE’VE TURNED THE CORNER!!! All we needed was to play East Coast teams at home when they are on the second night of a BTB

As soon as I saw Harkless catch the ball against Smart in the post, I knew Smart was going to flop.

This Celtics team is missing two key members, and is just dreadful so far.

They've had DECADES to adjust to missing Reggie Lewis, I don't think they should use it as an excuse anymore We’re winning fair and square!!

Thomas is a BEAST!

Thomas, in the space of about 20 minutes, has gone from a guy that I don't care about, to one that I'd love to see get clocked in the face.

Time for the Blazers to think the're hotter than microwave oatmeal and coast to a loss

Or maybe BOS realized they were being terrible defensively and tried to do something about it.

Don't give up yet folks. Unless you want a better draft pick. Then, by all means, give up.

I was really impressed with Marcus Smart in Summer League a couple of years ago. Glad to see him fulfilling that potential. Just not against us, of course. ;-)

No need to cover Horford at the 3 point line. Freaking double Thomas and get the ball out of his hands.

Thomas elbowed the sh** out of Aminu on one of those highlights. What a little bit**. Someone needs to knock him on his a** hard one of these times. Cocky little f***ER knows he's being protected by the refs.

Boston is a good team. We knew they wouldn't make this easy.

I hate this team. Just hate it.

Damn, how good would Dame be if the refs protected him as much as some of these other guards?

News flash: Thomas goes left 99% of the time.

We must be setting some sort of record this year for letting opponents back into the game after building up a big lead.

KINGS rolled these guys last night.

The fans should boycott the NYK how they handled Oakley. Their owner is garbage.

Knicks know they can't be NBA champions so they're trying to take the incompetency championship from Sacramento

Area 21 Might be the most pointless thing ive ever seen. SO STUPID! Didn't even mention the Blazers backcourt in their top several, and Garnet forgets Lillard's first name...

I have to admit, I kinda expect the Blazers to win this still. Or IT scores 40 second half points. Hard to predict.

Attack Olynik On and off the court!

OH NO....WE SUCK AGAIN

I'd rather have Vucevic than Horford, when taking contracts age etc into account.

Jaylen Brown is a scrub, but at least get in his face when wide open.

Thomas isn't passing a ton in the 4th. Feel free to trap.

Second night of a back-to-back, across the country, minus two starters - and Boston is STILL outworking us on our homecourt. Pathetic.

Shocker. Rozier and other scrubs hitting ridiculous shots.

Ok I can't stand listening to Harlan going on about Thomas. Stop.

Gotta keep pounding down low. BOS don't like the inside stuff. They rely on a guy 5'2"

Would you rather look like Justin Bieber with a man bun or be named Kelly and rock a ponytail?

How long do I need to have the man bun, and how handsome am I if I was named Kelly with a pony tail?

What if my name is Kelly, and I have a pony tail already?

That little bum didn't get touched. That's two bs fouls on him

Wished Dame could get those calls. He might avg 30 like IT.

But in the watch point debate Thomas pretty clearly owns it now. I have no idea how he became this good all of the sudden

Damn that was a nice dunk by Green

How many crap calls does Boston get in the 4th quarter?

Crap. Olynik is going to foul out and Green will come back in

Thomas has 20 point 4th qtrs all the time. Wish we had Turner to put on him.

We got a ticky tack call!

God the defensive strategy is not working. double team leaves a wide open guy in the corner every time

Marcus Smart would look good coming off our bench.

Leaving three point shooters wide open is an interesting strategy.

I wonder if they'll ever have to go with decimals on uniforms.

Smart Too strong for Lillard

Thomas always goes left. Unstoppable fearless-Iverson like

Thomas has not gone right once all night and we keep letting him go on straight line drives to the left side of the rim.

Kelly F****** Olynik

Smart has 5 frickin' steals in this game...the dude is a great defender

Jaylen Brown. Scrub of the game award.

Looks like we're about to blow another home game that we led comfortably in, and against a team missing starters. Stotts must go.

Whaaa---isnt it lillard time? Home game

Lillard time....to blow it

Lillard is turning into Chris Paul . . . whining about every call. His game has turned into driving to the hoop begging for a call

This seems like one of those gambling games A lot of swallowed whistles in favor of Boston.

This game's over. Another epic Stotts choke job. Can we fire this clown already?

Getting whipped by a team on the second of a back to back. Nice.

Fire everyone. What a dumpster fire. This Boston team got blown out by Sacramento last night without Cousins.

This Boston team won 7 straight before that.

Wow, had 4 defenders back and let Thomas go coast-to-coast. The lack of effort is impressive.

We beat them in Boston on the 2nd night of a back to back. We're gonna miss Turner. We needed him tonight.

Boston has their highest scoring quarter of the season. In the 4th. On the 2nd of a road back to back.

Did I hear that right? 43 point quarter for the Celtics?

Aside from the Brooklyn Nets, I'm not sure there's a team in the league in a worse situation than this one.

At least we have our draft pick... Unless Olshey trades it away again for another journeyman scrub.

Celtics played harder, wanted it more.

The difference between Boston and the Blazers is Boston has excellent individual defenders in Bradley and Smart.....

Smart is a finely tuned and oiled flopper

Marcus Smart outplayed CJ this game by a mile, and his defense was a huge factor.

Techincally Dame is a better defender than Isaiah Thomas. I don’t hear too much complaining about Thomas’ defense. Maybe because he’s surrounded by competent defenders and effective schemes. It would seem that a prolific scoring gaurd with horrible defense could thrive with these ingredients around him.

Remember when we were one of the best 4th quarter teams in the league? Now we’re quite possibly the worst.

Brooklyn is probably worse in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters.

I think we would have won if ET had been out there tonight.

Plumlee may be lost for the rest of the season...
…after that traumatic put-back dunk by Gerald Green.

Watching tonight's game you can't help but be impressed by Boston. They have the 3 things every NBA team prays for. They have the three things that every NBA fan base would kill for. They have all star talent, they have a GREAT coach and they can play defense. Those 3 things will take you deep when the game matters. They won’t beat CLE but they will push them further than any other team out east. The scary thing is they might just end up with the #1 pick overall thanks to the most dysfunctional franchise minus the NYK.

  1. There are more reasonable Blazers fans, it looks like. The last comment sums it all up.

    1. Thanks for the comment! They did seem more reasonable than most. I love comments like the last one where they realize Boston's situation is really good!

  2. Yeah, I always like reading these, but they are a ton better when the comments aren't just "I want to punch the guy with the pony tail"

    1. Thanks for the comment! Some fans do get tedious with wanting to punch all the Celtics - I'd say Marcus leads the Celts in people wanting to punch him though :) Sometimes every other comment is how the refs are giving the Celtics all the calls when the calls are usually going both ways.

I like how much they're praising Evan Turner! That's pretty cool.

    1. Thanks for the comment. It was nice to see them praising Evan. When they played in Boston, most of them were pretty much down on him and mad about signing him for so much. Good to see that they are finally appreciating him.

    2. I think with him out of the line up they got worse, so they finally had to notice what he was contributing.

    3. I think you are right Buzz! With a player like Evan who does so many little things to help the team win but a lot of them don't show up on the stat sheet that is often true. Plus, I think it took him a little bit to find his role on that team.
