Would you trade
James Young, Evan Turner and our 2016 #1 for Joel Embiid?
How about Perry
Jones III rather than Turner (I suspect Philly would resist taking
Turner back)?
Sullinger or Olynyk
rather than Turner?
Throw in a couple of seconds?
Big men and foot
problems are a dangerous mix but would Danny take the chance while
waiting another year for Embiid? Obviously Joel would not be
available for these assets if he were healthy now, but would Philly
pass the gamble off to another team while recouping young player(s)
and our #1? It would solve our roster glut and give us a shot at
that “franchise” center. It is risky but I rather think that
poker player Ainge would pull the trigger and take the chance that
our training/medical staff could revive Embiid's career. Any draft
(or youth development project) is a gamble and this one might have an
acceptable risk/reward ratio. The Jones version would have to be in December and while it wouldn't solve the roster crowding, Brad/Danny should have a pretty
good read on his viability by then. I would do the Turner version
eagerly, the others with more hesitation. What say ye?

I would hesitate trading Sully another player and a pick if he were healthy. That's way too much to an unproven big with foot problems. Throw half of next years 8 picks at them and call it a day.
ReplyDeleteI think either Sully or Kelly have to go in any case Also we still have too many players so pick another to go for Embliid. Dragic? and maybe throw in a couple of seconds to make it happen. It's a gamble, but worth a go if the C's medical team thinks the foot problem has a permanent fix.

We likely have 8 picks next year. We can give them 3 picks (one first and 2 seconds) or even throw in the Minnesota pick, which would be 2 picks. Sully is fine. I get the impression he is in the next trade they make. I have not given up on Young. I would prefer they include someone else, but my thinking is that Philly needs a guard, so if not Young, it would need to be someone that has upside. Would they be willing to take Rozier?
ReplyDeleteYes, I think it is worth the gamble, pending the Celts medical team looking him over. If it works, they have just upgraded their team.
The bone that he has broken twice in a row is the same bone that derailed Bill Walton's career. So, I am a bit hesitant to go after him. But, I guess if anyone was worth the risk it's Embiid. But a big man with recurring foot injuries is very scary. If we could get him without giving away half the team, it would be worth it I guess.
