We finally get to see the Celtics 4 draft picks in action as the Celtics begin Summer League play against the host Utah Jazz. Assistant coach Jay Larranaga will be on the bench coaching the young Celtics with a defensive-first mentality. He will be giving them a lesson in the Celtics' team-first mentality.  They want to be the best defensive team in both of their summer stops. There are several players to keep an eye on as the Summer League gets under way.
Marcus Smart and James Young will be starting off their sophomore year looking to make a leap to the next level.  Young, especially, has reportedly put on 20 lbs of muscle and is ready to make an impression on the coaches.  Marcus Smart is ready to move on past a nagging ankle injury and showcase all of his abilities.

Terry Rozier is coming into this Summer League with a chip on his shoulder.   Other top picks in the draft refused to work out against him and he is anxious to play against them in the games.  He is also looking to show the doubting fans that he was worth the 16th pick.   Jordan Mickey and Marcus Thornton will be doing their best to prove that they are worthy of a roster space.

Of the other players on the roster,  Colton Iverson is worth keeping an eye on.   This is Iverson's 3rd Summer League with the Celtics after the Celtics bought the 53rd pick in the 2013 draft.  He has played in Europe for the past two seasons and has honed his game somewhat, losing weight and adding a bit of mobility.  It will be interesting to see if he will finally make the team this season.
Jonathan Holmes is another player to keep an eye on.  Word leading up to the draft was that the Celtics liked Holmes and Danny was considering buying another second rounder to take a chance on him but then he went undrafted.   There should be some good competition between Mickey, who was taken with the Celtics' 33rd pick and Holmes, who was predicted by some mock drafts to be the Celtics' target with that pick.

Dante Exum
Last year's highly rated draft pick never really took off last season, averaging only 4.8 points and 2.4 assists.  He will be looking to make his mark in this Summer League.

Trey Lyles
This year's 12th pick will be one to keep an eye on as he looks to make an impression in his first game with the Jazz.

JaJuan Johnson, Chris Johnson
Two former Celtics will be looking to prove that the Celtics made a mistake when they let them go.

Key Matchup
and   vs
Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier vs Dante Exum.
Exum was highly regarded when he was drafted 5th overall by the Jazz in last year's draft.   He struggled somewhat in his first season, in spite of improving his skills, and will be looking to make a mark in the Summer League.  Smart and Rozier will have their defensive abilities front and center trying to stop him.
