Late Rally Falls Short as Celtics Drop Third Straight Game to Suns

Markieff Morris scored 30 points and Goran Dragic added 22 more as the Suns snuck past the Celtics tonight, 118-114, handing the latter their third straight loss.

The Celtics seemed to be in limbo for the majority of this one, trailing by two after the first quarter, six at halftime and 14 early in the third. Indeed, they fell behind only to rally throughout this contest, even taking a two-point lead late when Jeff Green collected the last tenth of his 30 on three-point play.

Nonetheless, after Green missed a shot from behind the arch with under twenty seconds left and Alex Len made a couple free throws the Celtics were clearly defeated here. They got a late chance to draw close after Rajon Rondo got fouled on a deep attempt, but once the point guard missed all three attempts from the charity stripe, there was nothing left for Phoenix to do but run out the clock.

So yes, the Celtics were again beaten at the Garden this evening, the third time that's happened in six days. Their performance wasn't all bad, as Rondo finished just one assist shy of a triple-double and Tyler Zeller put in 19, but still, their effort obviously didn't prove good enough in the end.

They will now head to Philadelphia, where they will face the 0-9 76ers Wednesday.
