Today's Video: Practice Report, Mike and Tommy, and Big Al

First up today is Emily Austen's practice report. The big topic of discussion is and will be Rajon Rondo. He has participated in the team's full contact practice on Friday and Monday without any setbacks. I'm going on record to say that Rondo will be starting tomorrow night. He mentioned that there is a 79% chance of playing. We know that Rondo loves playing with numbers - maybe that's what makes me like him so much. We are both math geeks. Adam Kaufman broke it down in his Globe column today. Remember when Rondo tweeted 29,233,380 secs, the exact number of seconds from his surgery until his return to the court? Well, 79% happens to be the exact percentage of regular season games that Rondo has played in. I love this kid.

The second video is Mike and Tommy's preview of the Celtics. Tying in with the fact that it's all about Rondo, the video begins with Rondo highlights and they begin their preview with Rondo as well. Tommy thinks that Rondo will embrace the season and that Brad Stevens' style of play will let Rondo so what Rondo does best, run an up tempo offense. Tommy also mentions that shooting 33 1/3% from beyond the arc equals out to shooting 50% from 2. So if they are hitting 1/3 of their 3 point attempts, they are doing pretty good. Tommy also mentions that Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger are going to be tough matchups for opposing teams. Tommy also mentions that tough defense in the backcourt from Smart and Bradley could make the need for a rim protector less urgent. Good stuff from my 2 favorite commentators.

Finally, even though he's no longer a Celtic, I still keep an eye on Big Al Jefferson. Here is a video of his training regimen. He has improved year by year after the trade that sent him to Minnesota for Kevin Garnett. Part of that reason is his work ethic. I miss all our young guys that we had that season before the big trade. I really enjoyed that season, even though the Celtics didn't win a lot. Now the Celtics have another young team with one star to build around just like they did in 2007 and I'm going to enjoy this season as well.
