Tonight, the Celtics finally won a game as they beat the notoriously bad Phoenix Suns by the score of 113-88. Tonight featured two big story lines. The first one, Kevin Garnett was rested. The second one, the team debut of Jordan Crawford. Although I disagreed with resting KG at a time while the team was struggling, it ended up not hurting them at all as Jeff Green stepped up with 31 points to lead the team. As for the other news maker, Jordan Crawford had a solid debut, scoring 10 points on 4/9 shooting. My first impression of him is that he is already much better than Leandro Barbosa. But this was just one game, we'll have to see how he fares in the final 27.
Tonight's USOTN goes to the performance of Terrence Williams. Williams, in just his second game with the team, scored 9 points on 4/8 shooting. Williams is already starting to show some improvement and I hope that the team re-signs him after his current 10-day contract expires. Williams isn't too well known to the media and his stats weren't incredibly appreciated tonight since technically the team didn't need them. But still, it's fun to see the new guy have success.
Jordan Crawford and Terrence Williams each seem to have a respectable amount of talent after their first few games. Although Crawford has gotten a ton of publicity in the last two days, I still think that Williams is the better acquisition. He has slightly more professional experience and, in my opinion, a better shot. But it's still too early to tell how important each guy will turn out to be as the season goes on. But one thing's for sure, the Celtics may have stolen two young stars for next to nothing this week.
