Usually after a win like tonight I would complain that they should've won by more. That they were playing a weak opponent who often gets blown out by 30. Tonight wasn't that kind of case. Despite being now just 17-32, the Raptors are very tough to beat and are even tougher now that they have added Rudy Gay. So I consider this a very high quality 99-95 win and a win that makes me proud to be a Celtics fan.
Tonight's USOTN goes to Paul Pierce with his double-double. Pierce seemed to be in KG's shadow for most of this one, but he still looked good. Pierce had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. His 6 assists, despite not being an extremely high number, led the team. It's impossible to replace a passer like Rondo, but he could try to fill the void.
I also feel like Barbosa could be the next Rondo for the C's. Barbosa, unlike Pierce, is actually a point guard who will have many more opportunities to give up the ball while Pierce is often expected to shoot it. Barbosa had 4 assists tonight which was second on the team. This wasn't amazing, but it was improvement and it shows how much potential both of these guys have. As always, leave your own USOTNs below. Good night.
