Tommy has been saying all year that the Celtics need to run more and pass more and advance the ball quicker. He was always frustrated with Rondo walking the ball up. He's enjoying the way this Celtics team is playing out of necessity with Rondo gone. As a matter of fact, so am I. They are running, advancing the ball quickly with the pass, and getting into the paint more. I hope they keep it up.
I know that Orlando isn't a great rebounding team, but it was kind of exciting to at least see the Celtics as a team putting out effort on the boards. When they work at it, they do pretty well. It's frustrating when they stand around and not go after them. I think they know now that each one of them have to work at it. Again, I hope they keep it up.
Tommy is so funny sometimes. I had to laugh at this one. Big Baby will always have to fight his weight and I have a feeling that Sully might have that problem as well. I hate seeing players with season ending injuries. It seems like it's been a trend over the last couple of years. The Celtics had 2 last year and 2 again this year. The Magic also have been hit hard with injuries this season as have the Wolves.
The whole team has been enjoyable to watch the past few games. They are running and look like they are having fun playing. I think that was missing the first part of the season. I really like Chris Wilcox and it's puzzling why he isn't getting more minutes. He said his thumb is fine. Especially with Sully out now, we should be playing him more.
I agree with Tommy. I don't think we need Redick. I think we need another big more. We have 2 open roster spots. Danny could sign someone without having to trade anyone and mess up chemistry further. But then again, it would add to the lux tax hit. I know he'll do something but with Danny, you never know what.
I love how aggressive Green has been the past couple games. Is it that he's more comfortable? Is it the un-Rondo effect? Who knows, but I hope he keeps it up!!
Since they are moving the ball up quicker and using passes more than walking it up, they are less predictable than when one player initiated the offense every time down, they are getting a lot more easy shots. Of course, this was just the Magic. It will be interesting to see if they can still do the same against the Clippers on Sunday.
And for his aggressive play and his overall good game, Jeff Green wins the Tommy Award.
