I love listening to Mike and Tommy. I really don't like the national TV games because I'm stuck with their announcers since CSNNE is blacked out here. I chuckle when I do the CFTOS and they talk about what a homer Tommy is. That's why I love him so much. Home games mean that Tommy's also tweeting and we get gems like this from him.
Tommy still knows his stuff. If it wasn't so much stress he should be an assistant coach. Here he's the master of understatement. Yes. Please cover Griffin. I think they heard Tommy and they did a good job of covering him overall.
Clippers fans were complaining about the refs, but they missed calls on both sides. Tommy was befuddled by several of them.
This call was definitely befuddling. Poor Leandro Barbosa. This is the second time he's been clotheslined and grabbed around the neck and thrown to the ground and it was deemed a regular foul.
I have no doubts that "Tommy Gun" could still light it up if he wanted to.
And some more Tommy rants against the refs. He certainly was on his game last night.
The Clippers players all mentioned the Celtics' aggressiveness after the game being the difference between the blow out loss in LA and the win in Boston. Tommy's right. The Celtics need to continue to press and to push and to be aggressive. When they let up, they lose big leads like they did last night. But at least they hung on for the win.
A Tommy Point for Avery Bradley. I love the "Pit Bulls" in the front court with Bradley and Courtney Lee hounding the opposing guards. Along with the calls that they missed, the refs did get a lot right too. This one especially.
I loved this one. Collins did sell this one but he did it gracefully :) And who says Tommy's a homer? He admitted that Jason sold this one but he's right. He's our 7 footer. Collins has been putting in some solid efforts of late.
I'm with Tommy! I love this new running style. It reminds me of the 70's and 80's when there was no walking up with court with the ball. They ran and passed. I loved it when they would run the fast break without the ball ever touching the floor. The Celtics are winning with that style again. But when they go away from it and start walking up the court again and the ball stalls, that's when they lose the leads.
All I can say is "Yep!" The Celtics get mugged and it's a regular foul. They give a hard foul and it's a flagrant every time. I wish they were more consistent with their calls on what's a flagrant and what's not.
Jeff Green is finally using his athleticism and being aggressive. He's finally starting to show what Danny saw in him. I'd still like to see more from him, though. Was pretty amazing that yesterday there were 3 players on the court who all had open heart surgery.
Paul Pierce has been great since Rondo went down. He has rediscovered his clutch shooting gene. He has also been giving the team whatever they need - rebounds, assists, points. He's proving how valuable he is to the team. And even more so, he's showing why he deserves to retire a Celtic.
And for his clutch 3 pointer, Paul Pierce wins the Tommy Award.
