The NBA has some exciting dunkers in the contest this season. I expect it to be a lot of fun to watch. I really like watching Denver's Manimal. The kid is fun to watch. He has a motor that just doesn't quit and he looks like he's having a lot of fun playing. But, my pick for the dunk contest is a sentimental favorite. I'm rooting for Gerald Green to get this one.
He should have won the last contest he was in. The candle and stocking feet dunks were pretty amazing. He's creative and puts a lot into his dunks and I'm hoping he wins this one. Once a player is a Celtic for a couple of years, especially the ones we draft, I always have a big soft spot for them. Here are a couple of Gerald's best dunks to whet your appetite for the contest. First up, one of my favorites. This one is definitely a 10.
More dunks after the jump.
I love this one. It goes old school with a nod to Dee Brown's Slam Dunk championship. He does the no look one. But instead of the pumps, Gerald adds the incredible wrinkle of jumping over a person, a short one, but a person nonetheless. I think one of the things I like best about this is how excited The Captain is about Gerald and the dunk. Celtic Pride all the way.
I love this dunk because it involves a fast break with Paul Pierce, Brian Scalabrine, and Gerald Green. It just doesn't get any better than that. It also helps that he is dunking on the Knicks. And I also love Tommy's commentary. He could grab a dollar off the backboard and leave change. I love Tommy.
I love this one. I remember doing the CFTOS during this game and the Raptors fans went nuts when he did this dunk. Their commentators were all upset about it. The Raptors forums would all have 200 pages of hate for the Celtics for all the games after this one, vowing vengeance and all kinds of retribution after that dunk. It was fun. But all the years of getting routinely beaten by the Celtics have dulled that a bit, but they still remember this dunk and it still fuels their hatred for the Celtics. Fun times.
