A 5 game home stand coming up means more Mike and Tommy and more of Tommy tweeting through the games. Lots to look forward to. The return of Bradley has had an effect on every player, including Courtney Lee, who has been playing well, especially on defense.
Sometimes we forget what a dominant player Tommy was back in his playing days. If you get a chance, you should read his books. They are excellent and tell some great anecdotes about the Celtics back in the day. One story I loved was how Red sent Tommy out to antagonize and dog Wilt Chamberlain, who got so mad he threw a punch at Tommy but ended up hitting the floor and breaking his hand. You don't mess with Tommy!!
Anyone who proposes to trade Avery should seriously rethink that. Tommy's right, the kid is something special. JR over on
Celtics Life has named him "Game Changer" and I think that nickname fits him very well.
I love the Jeff Green we've seen in the last couple games. I don't know if it's the Avery affect or if he's just getting more comfortable in his role. Or, maybe he's just finally getting his conditioning 1 year after the surgery. Whatever it is, I hope it continues.
Bradley's defense was there from day one. It's nice to see him getting his legs under him and seeing his shots starting to fall. It was also nice seeing the Captain get a nice long rest last night. The bench is finally rounding into form and contributing.
I agree with Tommy - Take it to the basket!!! Good things happen when you get into the paint. Too often the Celtics have settled for outside jumpers and when they didn't fall, they didn't adjust. I love seeing them aggressive and going to the hoop, and so does Tommy.
Other than that pull up 3 on a 2 on one break, Jason Terry played well in this one. He won the Tommy Award because when the Celtics were faltering he got them on track by not settling for a jumper and driving to the hoop. Personally, I would have given the Tommy Award to Sully. 12 points and 16 rebounds. What a game by the Rookie!
