I was browsing through Twitter a few moments ago and saw this bombshell from
CelticsBlog.
They quote
this artcle from ESPN Brazil. In it, he expresses his frustration with lack of playing time and the fact that he has tried several times to get out of his contract with Boston but Danny won't let him. Barbosa also suggested that in a little while we will get a surprise. Perhaps there is a trade already in the works.
Barbosa has shown an ability to contribute offense off the bench and put up some quick points. It's nice to have a player like that on the bench and so I can see why Danny wouldn't want to trade him. But if Barbosa is unhappy, it may be in the best interest of the team to try to trade him to a team that needs a guard and could give him more playing time, since on the Celtics he has Rondo, Bradley, Terry and Lee all ahead of him in the rotation. Still, that instant offense off the bench sure is nice. At any rate, we may be in for a surprise one of these days.
Pro Basketball Talk is reporting that the Celtics are one of the teams who are interested in Greg Oden, who is planning to make a comeback next season. Seems like a low risk, high reward type situation. With the Celtics being restricted to a hard cap this season, though, I don't know if they could swing it to sign him now and wait on him until next season.
Part of Oden’s plan is to sign with a team in the next month and get into a training and conditioning program with an eye toward returning to the floor next season. The Celtics are among the teams monitoring Oden’s progress, and sources tell CBSSports.com’s Jeff Goodman that the Spurs and Cavaliers have expressed interest, too.
Something seemed a little off with Avery Bradley last night. Steve Bulpett cleared it up with this tweet. He'll probably play tomorrow night but we shall see. I guess it depends on how bad the rib injury was.
Scott Souza reports that Jeff Green was the first one out on the court today shooting, well before his teammates came out for today's practice. He also said that Chris Wilcox was working on getting used to foul shooting while wearing a thumb wrap before practice. Hopefully Doc makes every one of them practice a thousand free throws. 37% from the line against the Hornets is inexcusable.
Scott and
Chris Forsberg also had some classic quotes from Rondo regarding the All Star Game.
#Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo on All-Star socializing: I don't do it ... I don't try to be friends with guys not on my team.
#Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo on possibly winning fans All-Star vote: I am here to entertain, put on a show.
Rajon Rondo playfully elusive about All-Star until official starters announcement. Asked if he'd hang out with Melo and Wade: "Why would I?"
