The NBA has announced that Rajon Rondo has been suspended for one game for making contact with an official and failing to cooperate with the league investigation. David Stern must really have it out for Rondo. When I watch that video, there is just incidental contact and it doesn't appear to be menacing. I've watched LeBron James grab a ref by the arm and turn him around to complain about a call and nothing was every done about that. I've seen Kobe grab a ref by the shoulder to stop him. Both of those were certainly more menacing to the ref than this. I guess only league favorites can touch the league's precious refs, most of whom are either crooked or incompetent. This is one of the most ridiculous things I've read in a long time.
There is speculation that Danny Ferry handed the refs the tape after the game that led to this suspension. Ferry was seen handing a DVD to the refs and he was fined $15,000 for inappropriate interaction with the refs after the game for doing so. They have known about this for 2 days and for the league to wait until hours before the Knicks game makes it seem as though they are intentionally trying to give the Knicks an advantage. Maybe I'm reaching, but if it quacks like a duck...
He will serve his suspension tonight vs the Knicks. This kind of underscores the need for a back up point guard in one of those two open roster spots. Obviously a win in tonight's game just got much harder. Maybe everyone else will pick up their game and win this one for their unfairly suspended point guard.
