The 2012 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas will feature a record 24 teams competing in a 60-game schedule July 13-22 at the Thomas & Mack Center and the COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
The 2012 NBA Summer League will showcase 13 of the top 14 picks in this year's NBA Draft. The action tips off at 1 p.m. PT, Friday, July 13, with the Atlanta Hawks playing the Washington Wizards in the first of four scheduled games that day at COX Pavilion. Other teams participating in opening day action include the Charlotte Bobcats, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors. Gatorade will support the 2012 NBA Summer League and serve as an Associate Partner.
NBA TV will televise all 60 games, including 39 live from both the Thomas & Mack Center and COX Pavilion. Games will also be available on digital platforms. Complete broadcast information will be released at a later date.
Good news for all us bball junkies. I love to watch the summer league games just to see what talent there is on opposing teams benches. And of course to see Rookies and last but not least the C's.

Bass Opts Out
by Loyalist 5:39 PM
Via CSNNE.com
You can now officially add Brandon Bass to the list of free agent targets for the Celtics.
While there has been considerable speculation as to what Bass will do this summer, his agent tells CSNNE.com that the 6-foot-8 forward plans to opt-out of the final year of his contract, and thus test the free agent waters.
However, all indications are that Bass is hoping to return to the Celtics with a multi-year deal.
Good news is he wants to play for us still...bad news is he will probably want more than we are willing to offer.
The decision to not pick up the final year of his contract, worth $4.25 million, is driven by Bass' desire to sign a long-term deal with the C's.
Following Boston's Game 7 loss to Miami, he told reporters about his desire to return next season to Boston.
"I would love to be back here," he said at the time. "The fans here are unbelievable. For any player, this organization is the organization that you want to play for."
But Bass has been in this league long enough to know that ultimately, a player has to make decisions that in the long run are best for him and his family. Hopefully those decisions result in the player playing for the team of his choice, too.
The only issue left to resolve -- and it's a big one -- is determining Bass' value.
He was due to earn $4.25 million next season.
But in all likelihood, the Celtics would have to offer him something that at the very least was in the same neighborhood or higher, of the four-year, $26 million contract signed by Glen Davis when the C's sent him via sign-and-trade to Orlando for Bass.
Bass has been reluctant to say much about his contract status.
I for one would love Bass back. He is worth a long term contract but at what price when I know he could go elsewhere and get more money.
For the C's, Bass averaged a career-high 12.5 points per game and 6.2 rebounds, which was also a career high.
Nowhere was Bass' growth with the Celtics more apparent than the start of Game 7 when the Celtics assigned him to begin the game defending LeBron James -- an unfathomed concept at the start of the season.
Even when he struggled at times during the regular season with his defensive assignments and rotations, Celtics head coach Doc Rivers remained firm in his belief that Bass would be fine.
"He's already a very good individual defender," Rivers said earlier this season. "If you told Brandon to just guard his guy, he's probably our best at that because he can move his feet extremely well and he can switch on smaller players."
Throughout his career, Bass has made steady strides in his all-around game.

$25k Fine For KG Media Snub
by Loyalist 4:52 PM
ESPN.com reports
The NBA fined Celtics center Kevin Garnett $25,000 Wednesday for failing to make himself available to reporters following a Game 7 loss in Miami.
Garnett, set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, left an air of uncertainty about his future when he bailed AmericanAirlines Arena following a 101-88 loss that ended Boston's season.
Of course, $25,000 is a mere 0.12 percent of Garnett's $21.2 million salary and likely won't spoil his offseason.
It should be noted that Garnett was fined for failing to talk to reporters, not for leaving the court early. The television broadcast appeared to show both Garnett and Rajon Rondo leaving the court with time still on the clock. Rondo addressed the media at the podium following the game.

Update: Ray Allen Surgery Successful
by Loyalist 4:50 PM
From Inside Hoops
The Boston Celtics announced today that guard Ray Allen and guard/forward Mickael Pietrus both underwent successful surgery at New England Baptist Hospital this morning. Both surgeries were completed by Celtics Team Physician, Dr. Brian McKeon and were assisted by Dr. Mark Slovenkai.
Allen, who had successful arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle, averaged 14.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.07 steals in 34.0 minutes per game for the Celtics during the regular season. He also shot 45.3 percent from three-point range which ranked fourth in all of the NBA this past season and was a career-high, besting his previous career-high that was set during the 2010-11 season (44.4 percent).
Pietrus, who had successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, averaged 6.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 21.9 minutes per game for the Celtics during the regular season. He also finished third on the team in three-point field goals with 61 behind Allen (106) and Paul Pierce (100). Pietrus scored a season-high 16 points against Oklahoma City on February 22.

Allen Ankle Surgery Tomorrow
by Loyalist 4:02 PM
In a story by the Boston Herald reports are Ray Allen will undergo surgery to remove bone spurs from his right Ankle.
Ray Allen will complete the procedure Wednesday morning at the New England Baptist Hospital.
Allen missed 15 games during the regular season and 2 playoff games. He was looking forward to getting in done asap after gm 7.
Ray - “That’s my first priority, just going into surgery sometime. If I could do it tomorrow, I would do it tomorrow. That’s probably my main concern right now, taking care of that. My body feels good. That’s been my only issue. After that, it’s hard to say."
His future with the C's are uncertain at best.
Ray - “There’s still a lot of basketball left in my legs. I know that for sure. So it’s hard to say what can happen, what may happen. But four of us know how to play basketball. We know how to win games.”
