Another game, another edition of the Best of Tommy. I was stuck watching the ESPN guys last night and I couldn't believe how much I missed Mike and Tommy. Rondo missed out on yet another triple double by 1 rebound last night. He finished with 16 points, 15 assists and 9 rebounds. I've always said that rebounding is desire and effort and positioning. Rondo, at 6'1" getting 9 rebounds, more than anyone else in the game except Shawn Marion, proves this. Here's Tommy's take on it.
Rondo grabs an O-REB and lays it up: "There's your point guard! Offensive rebound!"

Pierce always hits some big shots, but he also takes some ill advised shots. I think sometimes he forgets that his legs aren't as young as they used to be. But then again, we had young guys missing shots and point blank layups too so I guess I can't complain too much.
Pierce hits a contested 3: "You've gotta really concentrate to make that work with Marion leaping as high as he did!"

This was my favorite play of the game. Rondo and Wilcox have a great alley oop connection on most nights but the Rondo to Green oop last night took center stage and it began with defense.
Rondo connects with Green on an ally-oop: "He's got his track shoes on! Good legs. Good legs."

KG just keeps getting it done. I don't know about you, but when KG takes a long 2 or one of those midrange rainbow shots, I expect them to go in. He played 40 minutes last night. Glad he didn't turn back into a pumpkin after 28.
KG for 2: "That's where they should be going!"

Amazing how inconsistent the officiating can be. They call a nudge on one play and then let a complete mugging go on the next one. NBA officiating is like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.
Fisher fouls out on Rondo, Celtics keep possession: "Fisher came up and gave him a nudge. You can't nudge in this league! No nudging!"

And your Tommy Award winner for the game is.... Chris Wilcox. Chris gives the Celtics a burst of energy when he comes in. He played just under 16 minutes, but they were very productive minutes. He was 4-5 from the field for 10 points and pulled down 6 rebounds, 4 of them offensive and added a block for good measure.
"This guy has battled a lot of situations to just get back in the lineup, No. 1 being heart surgery." Chris Wilcox wins the #TommyAward!
