The Boston Celtics are signing forward Jarvis Varnado of Sioux Falls in the D-League, league source tells Y! Sports.

Varnado was drafted by the Miami Heat with the 41st overall pick in the 2010. The 6'9" power forward played 2 years in Italy and in Israel and went to camp with Miami in 2011 and 2012. He was one of the Heat's final cuts this year and hamstring issues kept him from landing one of the final spots on the Heat's roster.
In 10 games for the Sioux Falls Skyforce this season, Varnado averaged 14.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 3.9 blocks per game. Varnado is 6'9 but plays much bigger due to his 7'4" wingspan, athleticism and leaping ability. In the photo below, Varnado blocks the Kris Joseph's shot in a game between the Red Claws and the Sky Force.
