5 Things Celtics must do to win tonight

Last night, the Rajon Rondo-less Celtics blew out the struggling Portland Trail Blazers, 96-78. Some will say that it was just the Blazers, while people like me think that this is the turning point. The C's are still not a powerhouse, but they are improving. Tonight's game won't be as easy as yesterday's, but I think they'll be prepared. As of now, they have momentum. They just need to keep it. Keeping momentum is number five on tonight's "Five Things" post, here are the other four:
4. FIND YOUR NEW BEST PASSER:
Tonight's game is the final one of Rondo's suspension. Obviously, nobody can fully replace Rondo, but somebody will have to be the premiere passer. I expect that either Jason Terry or Leandro Barbosa will be that guy. Last night, both of those guys had just one assist. But they each have a lot of expierience at point guard and, if Doc wants them to, could hold off on scoring and just find an open guy.
3. DON'T LET GARNETT SLOW DOWN:
In my opinion, Kevin Garnett is the Celtics' most consistent player. It seems like every game, no matter how bad the rest of the team plays, Garnett shows up and puts 15-20 points on the board. Last night seemed like his first below-average Garnett game of the season. It was an okay performance(10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists), but he didn't have his edge. I don't expect this to happen again, but he needs to make sure of that.
2. STAY IN THE GAME:
The Celtics are a team who plays better in the fourth quarter than in any other part of the game. But, when they are far behind going into the final period, they usually don't bounce back and end up losing by a lot. Last time they were in Milwaukee, they were behind almost the whole way but pulled it out in the final moments. They need to do this again.
1. OUTSCORE THE BUCKS:
You can not win a basketball game without outscoring the other team. I always say that I don't care how you win as long as you win. Win by forty or by one, I just want them to be 10-7 when I go to bed tonight.
Tip-off for tonight's game will be at 8:30 pm ET. It will be televised on CSN- New England and Fox Sports- Wisconscin. Coverage will be available here at Celtics Green. |
