Sam Amick is reporting in USA Today that the Raptors are expected to sign former Celtic Mickael Pietrus to a deal on Friday. They are expected to release Dominic McGuire to make room for Pietrus on the roster.
Pietrus averaged 6.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 42 games for the Celtics last season. He missed games for an assortment of injuries that included a hamstring injury, a knee injury and a concussion. Pietrus brings a scorer who can spread the floor as well as a good defender to the Raptors. At 3-13, they need some help.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but Pietrus has been firm so far this season saying that he would not play for the vet minimum and wanted more. The Celtics wanted to bring him back at the vet minimum but had to pass on the higher price tag. His name has been connected with a series of teams this season but none had more than the minimum to offer. He loved being a Celtic, but not enough to play for them for the vet minimum.
In other
former Celtic news, the Cavs have waived former Celtic Luke Harangody.
