Celtics Green would like to extend prayers and sincere sympathy to the family of former Celtics great Kevin McHale on the loss of their daughter, Sasha. McHale had taken a leave of absence from the Rockets earlier this month for personal reasons.
The Houston Rockets have released the following statement:
"I extend my deepest condolences to Kevin and Lynn for the loss of their beautiful daughter, Sasha, on Saturday afternoon. Kevin and Lynn are loving and dedicated parents who will need our continued support throughout this very difficult time," owner Les Alexander said in a statement.
"Our entire organization is mourning the McHale family's loss, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers."
His daughter had long battled lupus, an auto-immune disease, and was hospitalized with a related condition. McHale took leave of absence from the team on November 10. Sasha passed away on Saturday. She was just 22 years old. My thoughts and prayers are with Kevin, Lynn and their family at this very difficult time.
Chris Wilcox of the Celtics
has long led the fight against this terrible disease. Lupus has touched Chris’ family as well. His aunts Remonia and Brenda succumbed to the disease in August of 1991 and May of 1998. His foundation works to provide funding for research and education about the desease of Lupus.
