The Celtics just might have finally reached this season's turning point with their overtime win Sunday night in Orlando, but that doesn't mean that there isn't any weight on their shoulders. They didn't play well in Sunday's game, blowing a big first half lead and then having to rally in the final minutes just to send the game into overtime. But, the point/excuse that can be made would be that that game was on the road. The Celtics, just like every other team, play better at home. Tonight, the 8-6 Celtics will host the 9-4 Brooklyn Nets. We saw what they did to OKC at home, now we will see how they matchup against Brooklyn. Here are the five things that the Celtics must do to win tonight:
5. GET COURTNEY LEE MORE INVOLVED:Courtney Lee is a great player. He is quick, versatile, and can get hot at any moment. That's why it's a shame that the Celtics are wasting his talent. Lee could easily go 8/10 if they'd give him a chance, but instead they look elsewhere on the court. In Orlando, Lee had five points on 2/4 shooting. He is very capable of scoring more than five points.
4. KEEP KG HOT:Kevin Garnett played like a superhero in Orlando. With 24 points on 10/17 shooting, Garnett led the team in scoring. There's no doubt that this guy is a future hall of famer, so continue to use him for his hall of fame talent.
3. KEEP RONDO'S STREAK GOING:As I have said before, Rondo needs to keep his streak going. Not just so he can be put in the record books, but so that he can focus more on winning. He won't say it, but you play better without that weight on your shoulders.
2. WHERE'S JEFF GREEN?:Green had the game of his life last Friday against the Thunder, but in Orlando he was silent. Against the Magic, Green had just one point on 0/9 shooting. Like Courtney Lee, he is capable of taking over a game at any moment. He just needs to remember that.1.
OUTSCORE THE NETS:As always, the #1 thing on these lists is to outscore the other team. We don't often think about this, but #2-5 could all go wrong. But if someone like Jared Sullinger suddenly scores 100 points, they could still win. That's what it all comes down to, just winning.Tip-off for this game will be at 7:30 pm ET.
It can be seen on CSN-New England and the YES Network. Coverage will available here at Celtics Green.
