I've always been a glass half full type of fan. Or maybe more like a glass three quarters full. I mean, I was even excited about that team the season before the big trade that brought KG to Boston. So, it's no surprise that I'm pretty much beside myself going into this season. And, the more I see, hear and read, I get even more excited. A. Sherrod Blakely reported that KG was working with the young bigs after practice. And the best part is that the young bigs were listening and soaking up every bit of knowledge that KG imparted to them.

"For him to step out at the end of practice, knowing he's probably tired and just speaking upon us about things we can do better and work on means he's a great teammate," said Jared Sullinger, Boston's first-round pick out of Ohio State. "He's been great so far. I don't expect it to change. It means a lot to us young guys."

"Oh man, it's great," said Melo, who like Sullinger was was drafted in the first round last June. Melo came out of Syracuse. "Everyday, I watch him play and try to learn everything that he does. After practice, he come to us and explains the stuff we had problems with. It's great."

KG is one of the best ever to play the game and the fact that he is willing to pass his knowledge of the game on to his younger teammates and to mentor them, is one thing that sets the Celtics apart from other teams in the league. The Celtics were able to bring in some talented young guys this season and they are only going to get better under KG's tutelage.


The Celtics have a deep bench this year. There were many games last year where the bench struggled to score. In game 7 of last season's Eastern Conference Finals, the Celtics reserves scored 2 points. That's not a misprint. They scored TWO points. Here is Jason Terry's response to that stat.

"When that stat was thrown out to me a week ago, I was embarrassed," Terry said. "I was disappointed. They said in Game 7 the bench scored two points. That's unacceptable and it won't happen while I'm a Celtic."

Jason Terry is set to assume leadership of that second unit. And, Danny has restocked the bench so that JT will have plenty of help. And Doc has so many pieces to mix and match. He can go big or small or in between. He can put out a half court team or a running team. It's going to be so exciting to see this all come together.

In the past, we've heard Doc promise to run more every season and then we'd see Rondo run and then have to dribble around while waiting for the rest of the team to get up the court and set a few screens to get Ray Allen open.  Then last year,  Rondo finally got his running pals in Chris Wilcox and Avery Bradley.   This season he'll be in his element with many more players to run with him.  And this season when Doc said they plan to run more,  I actually expect to see it.




How can you watch this video and not get excited???? Oh, and an interesting note from this video is that Rajon has taken to calling Ray Allen "Number 20" instead of using his name..  Shall we call henceforth just call him "He Who Must Not Be Named"?
