The Celtics originally were scheduled to leave for Miami after practice on Monday afternoon for Tuesday night's season opener against the Heat. But thanks to Hurricane Sandy, the Celtics will instead fly to south Florida at 5 o'clock pm on Sunday.
Hurricane Sandy is moving up the coast and could affect the northeast, including New England, on Monday or Tuesday. The storm could possibly ground flights and so the Celtics want to leave a day early to avoid the possibility of being unable to travel for their opening night game.
The team is scheduled to practice on Saturday and Sunday at home and will have a final tuneup on Monday in the Miami area.
