Above is a photo of the Celtics arriving in Turkey and heading into their first practice upon arrival. You can find a video of their arrival
here.
A Sherrod Blakely is reporting that Doc put his Celtics right to work once they got to Turkey. When they arrived in Turkey after an 11 hour flight, Doc put his team through an hour long practice. He wanted to keep them awake because of the 7 hour time change between Boston and Turkey
"That's a rarity in the NBA where you try to make sure they don't go to bed early," Rivers said. "Usually it's the exact opposite. But because of the time change and all that, I thought if we went straight and did nothing they would fall asleep at 6 p.m. and sleep the rest of the night away."
Here's a photo of the zombie-like Celtics at their practice upon arrival.
Paul Pierce, for one, appreciated the opportunity to get into the gym right away.
"It's good for us to get into the gym," said Boston's Paul Pierce. "Just to kind of be on a regular clock schedule, just to have fresh legs for practice tomorrow morning."
Doc was planning on putting them through a normal three hour practice the next day after allowing them to get some rest. Here are some photos from their first practice in Turkey.
Here they are huddling up before they begin practice.
KG works with Melo after practice. Doc said that when KG takes time to communicate with a player it means he likes him.
And the Celtics shooting around during practice.

But, it's not all sweat and work. Here's the view from Paul Pierce's hotel room (when he was finally allowed to go there)
And finally, I had to share this from Fab. All I can say is - it's going to be a fun year.
