Jason Terry and the Celtics have agreed on 3 year/$15 million contract pending one last check with the Mavs to see if they would counter. That speaks much to the Jet's character and loyalty. I can understand why he would want to give them a chance to counter after spending 8 years there and winning a championship with that team.
It would seem as though the Mavs are moving on and won't be making a counter offer.
ESPN Dallas is reporting that Donnie Nelson, in essence, said goodbye to the long time Mav.
Mavs president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson, moments after Deron Williams broke the news that he will re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets, all but bid Terry farewell.
"What Jet did for this city and franchise will never be forgotten," Nelson said. "He's one of the greatest clutch performers in the history of our game and even a better person. We wish him nothing but the very best."
Sounds to me that they are moving on and we just wait for the formality of the July 11 signing. Good news for the Celtics.
