Now that Jason Terry is officially a Celtic, he proudly posted the fact via Twitter.in this tweet along with the photo above where he is proudly pointing out the Celtics' logo on his shirt.
Since the players didn't hold up jerseys at the press conference, Jason is now unveiling his new jersey number, also on Twitter. See Jason's new number after the jump.
One of the challenges for free agents coming to Boston is picking their number. In Dallas, Terry wore #31 but that number is retired for Cedric Maxwell. So, I guess the next best thing is to add the digits 3+1 to get 4. 22 players have won the #4 for the Celtics beginning with Wyndol Gray in 1947. Most recently we had Marquis Daniels last season, and before that, Nenad Krstic, Nate Robinson, JR Giddens, Ryan Gomes (who was just amnestied by the Clippers), Chris Mihm and Tony Battie.
For the team where the 6th man role was born, Jason Terry will add to the list of quality 6th men who have worn Celtic green. He has also proven himself to be one of the NBA's all-time great 3-point shooters. In fact only Ray Allen, Jason Kidd and Reggie Miller have made more 3-pointers than the Jet who has 1,788. He will definitely provide a spark off the bench and will definitely be a key player in the quest for Banner 18. I love his quote from the press conference. He has ubuntu down already.
"If they need me to wash the uniforms or sweep the floor, whatever role Doc wants me to play, I'm here to do it at 100 percent and give my all," said Terry. "That's what I've done my whole career; pretty much whatever it takes to win. Whatever puts us in the best position to win these games, a championship, I want."
