A.Sherrod Blakely has a good piece over on CSNNE about Danny's thoughts on the current roster and what may or may not be his next move. Both Doc and Danny have expressed how happy they are with the current Celtics roster. Danny has gotten kudos from all over on the job he has done this offseason. But Trader Danny is never completely satisfied.
"I'm always looking for ways to improve the team," Ainge told CSNNE.com. "I like our team; I like our guys. But I'm always looking. You're never going to hear me say, 'I'm done.' Because you never know what may open up down the road or in the near future. I'm not desperately looking (to add players). It's going to be tough to find players I want more than the players I have. But I'll always keep an eye on what's out there, for sure."
Once Jeff Green signs, the Celtics will have 16 players signed. Doc and Danny will, at least, need to decide on which player(s) gets cut. The choice is likely to come down to one or two of the non-guaranteed contracts that currently belong to Jamar Smith, Dionte Christmas, and Kris Joseph. Smith appears to be the odd man out in that group.
The Celtics may also sign a camp invite or two to foster more competition, but there is going to be fierce competition as it is with 3 players vying for one or 2 positions and players working for a starting spot. Danny's also always on the lookout for a player who becomes available through buyout or who is waived. He can never pass up a good deal. On another subject, is it me, or has Danny really aged since he took this job?
