According to Chris Forsberg, the Celtics are preparing to add Jason Collins to bolster their bench.
The 7'0" Collins has been in the league 11 years, playing for New Jersey, Minnesota, Memphis and most recently Atlanta. Collins played in 30 games for Atlanta last season and averaged 1.3 points and 1.6 rebounds in 10.3 minutes per game. He shot 40% from the field and 46.7% from the line. Collins started 4 games in the playoffs vs the Celtics and averaged 2.4 points and 2.4 rebounds in 17 mpg. He is a decent post defender, so there is that. While he won't exactly set any records with his play, he's at least the right price, reportedly signing for the vet minimum. He's big and he's cheap and can defend and should be a good locker room guy.
