As most of us figured, the signing of OJ Mayo by the Mavericks signaled the end of the possibility of a sign and trade with them for Jason Terry. The Herald's Steve Bulpett reports that Danny has exhausted all avenues for a sign and trade with Dallas and is getting ready to officially sign Jason Terry with the Celtics' MLE.
The only way the Celtics can land Courtney Lee now is if they somehow work out a sign and trade with the Rockets, or if decides to sign for the bi-annual exception, which is way less than market price for him. The Wolves and several other teams are also interested in Lee, so he will get offers for more than the Celtics can give but it's possible that the lure of the chance for a ring and his relationship with Doc Rivers may lead him to sign for less with the Celtics. Danny was seen chatting with Rockets' GM in the stands at Vegas Summer League. He may be working on something, or maybe they were talking about the dangers of drinking coffee.
My solution for finishing the roster is to re-sign Pietrus and try to sign Darko and bring in two of the Christmas/Moore/Joseph trio and I think we'll have a very good team. Of course, there are always trade possibilities with Trader Dan at the helm. And, he always seems to do the unexpected. So, stay tuned for the Celtics' next move.
