Comments From the Other Side - Lakers 2/10
Friday, February 11, 2011
by FLCeltsFan 8:23 AM

I read a lot of fans comments after every game and I can honestly say that Lakers fans are the most delusional and ignorant of any fans in the league. The first half they were all about how horrible the Lakers are and how they need a trade and how the Celtics are the better team. Then at the end all of a sudden they are the best team in the league again. And I think the most ignorant comments of all were these two "Their missing pieces weren't significant pieces." and "The Lakers were without Barnes. It levels out." Ummmm Ok. The Celtics were without Shaquille O'Neal, Jermaine O'Neal, Semih Erden, Delonte West, Marquis Daniels, and Nate Robinson and along with all the injuries, Pierce was playing with the flu. That means NO back up center, small forward or PG and them missing Barnes levels it out. Like I said ignorant and delusional.
And, I've never seen fans who complain so much about the referees as these guys. And again, they are delusional. One comment says the Celtics are getting ALL the calls and the next talks about how many Celtics were in foul trouble. And Laker fans have a lot of nerve to complain about any refs when the refs literally handed them the title last season. As far as the loss is concerned, I would say that the Fakers are still without a quality win. The last comment shows that there is at least one Lakers fan that isn't completely delusional. Knowing that they were without backup, some of the starters held back, knowing they would be out there longer and couldn't afford to foul out. Pierce was a step slow. Also, I think breaking the record took a lot out of Ray. He wasn't the same after the record breaker. Some of that was foul trouble and some was that he was just emotionally spent. So, I'm not worried about this loss. The Lakers can feel like they won it, just like they did with the title last year. But in their hearts they have to know that they haven't really won anything.
Big game, we gotta prove that we can beat elite teams
This is a huge game.. I want to win this one so bad
Yah I still got a bad taste from losing to these guys 2 weeks ago
Is anyone buying this "pierce is sick" bull? What a load of bull. Can't believe they expect us to believe that about Mr wheelchair. Pretty sure the lakers aren't gonna buy it either. Pierce is probably gonna enter the arena with an IV hooked up to him just for show.

Celtics Host Lakers as Ray Goes for the Record
Thursday, February 10, 2011

Los Angeles Lakers (35-16) at Boston Celtics (38-13)
Thursday, February 10
8:00 PM ET
Regular Season Game #52, Home Game #29
TV: TNT, TSN2
Radio: WEEI, KSPN
TD GardenReferees: Scott Foster, Derrick Collins, Scott Wall
Just 11 days after the Celtics beat the Lakers in LA, these two rivals meet once again, this time in Boston. In their first meeting, Perk was just coming back and came off the bench while Shaq started. Shaq failed to score, picked up five fouls and recorded two turnovers in 12:42 of action but he did pull down 6 rebounds. Shaq is doubtful for this one and Perk is back in the starting lineup and with 8 games under his belt, hopefully is ready to man the middle in this game because the Celtics are very thin at center with Shaq, JO, and Semih all sidelined with various injuries.
Also in that game, Rondo had a very quiet first half but came alive in the second half to bring the Celtics back from a 7 point deficit and to lead them to the 13 point win. The Celtics will need Rondo to be aggressive from the beginning in this one because the Lakers can't be expected to fold down the stretch in both games. So the Celtics need to get off to a good start.
Kobe had 38 points in the first meeting between these two teams. But, the key stat is that he didn't have a single assist as he tried to win the game on his own. The Lakers as a team had just 10 assists while the Celtics as a team dished out 34 dimes. A key in this game will be whether Kobe tries early to get his teammates involved and whether they respond. It is always better for the Celtics when Kobe goes into hero mode.
The Lakers have won their last 2 games while the Celtics are coming off a loss to the Bobcats. When last they met, the Celtics were coming off an embarrassing loss to the Suns while the Lakers were coming off an equally embarrassing loss to the Kings. Both teams have had 2 days off prior to this meeting. The Lakers are 5-5 in their last 10 games and 16-8 on the road while the Celtics are 7-3 in their last 10 and 23-4 at home.
The Celtics bench is depleted with injuries to 3 of their centers, Delonte and now Quisy. The remaining reserves must step up in this one to give the starters enough rest to be able to execute down the stretch. Adding drama to this game (as if it needed any more) will be Ray needing just 2 3's to take the all time 3 point record. Hopefully that won't distract Ray or the Celtics and they will use it as incentive to come out and take control and use the home crowd to carry them to a sweep of the hated Fakers. Read more »

Comments From the Other Side - Bobcats 2/7
by FLCeltsFan 9:44 AM

I don't know where the notion comes from that the Celtics get favorable treatment from the refs. For the most part this just isn't so. These Bobcat fans watched the game through orange colored glasses. Last night the Bobcats shot more free throws than the Celtics and the officiating wasn't one sided toward the Celtics. They let a lot go on both ends. I did think that Fitzgerald was a bit quick with the T's on Jackson but he did the same thing to KG in the Knicks game - 2 quick T's and out for pretty much nothing. Not too worried about this loss. Back to back on the road and short handed on the bench. The Bobcats played way over their heads and the Celtics didn't come to play in this one. So... it's on to the Fakers.
I don't care who wins tonight, as long as it's a good game I'll be happy as a clam either way.
No chance tonight. 0. None. Zilch. Nada.
If we played 100 times, don't you think we'd have a chance to win at least 1?
There old so around game 98 they might wear down and let us win one.
Yeah, I guess maybe we could win 1 out of 100. So I should rephrase... We have 1% change of winning.

Celtics Take Quick Road Trip to Face Bobcats
Monday, February 7, 2011

Boston Celtics (38-12) at Charlotte Bobcats (21-29)
Monday, February 7
7:00 PM ET
Regular Season Game #51, Road Game #24
TV: CSNNE, SSO-CHA, NBA-LP 751/752
Radio: WEEI, WFNZ
Time Warner Cable Arena Referees: Ron Garretson, Marke Ayotte, Kane Fitzgerald
This should be an easy game against a sub .500 team for the Celtics sandwiched between games against contenders. It should be an easy game, but for some reason, sometimes the Celtics forget to show up in games that should be easy. It would be easy to take the Bobcats for granted after facing the Mavs and Magic in their last 2 games and looking forward to another game vs the Lakers on Thursday and then another big game vs the Heat after that.
The Celtics are 2-0 vs the Bobcats so far this season, winning big (92-62 in Charlotte and not so big (99-94) in Boston so far. They have one more meeting after this one. The Celtics are playing in the second of back to back games while the Bobcats have been off since their loss to the Mavs on Saturday. The Celtics are 6-6 so far this season in the second of back to back games.
The Celtics have never lost a season series to the Bobcats. They swept the series 3-0 last season. The Celtics are 18-5 overall all time against the Bobcats and 8-3 on the road all time vs the Bobcats.
The Celtics are 7-3 in their last 10 games and 15-8 on the road. The Bobcats are 6-4 in their last 10 games and 12-12 at home. The Bobcats have lost their last two while the Celtics are coming off a big win over the Magic. This could be a trap game if the Celtics see it as a break between contenders. Hopefully they come out strong and take care of business early. It would be a mistake to let them hang around because they do have some very good players who could lead the Bobcats to a win if the Celtics let them gain some confidence. Read more »

Comments From the Other Side - Magic 2/6
by FLCeltsFan 10:06 AM

Good game. I had to chuckle about Magic fans talking about Celtics fans complaining about the officials and then proceed to complain about the officials throughout the game. The Celtics did end up with a big free throw advantage but I thought the refs pretty much called the game even. They missed some calls both ways. Maybe I was looking through green glasses but I didn't see blatant favoritism. The Celtics were the more aggressive team and the Magic were shooting jumpers. Jeff Van Gundy was so irritating with his rant about how Howard gets abused and the refs don't protect him. Then when they showed Howard shove Perk out of bounds with no call, JVG had nothing to say. Believe me, Howard gives as much as he takes. He swings those elbows all the time and gets away with it. My favorite comment was the one talking about Perk committing a fragrant foul. What's yours?
I was incredibly surprised to hear they didn't fine or suspend KG for touching a ref not once, but twice.
Yeah, I don't know how he continues to not get disciplined for his antics. Oh wait, yes I do, he’s KG and plays for the Celtics.
He clearly plays in his own league with his own rules Amazing how the NBA seems to bow down to this thug.
Honestly, the way we've been playing recently my expectations aren't that high, but I just want to see some effort and intensity on the defensive end regardless of the result.
The Celtics struggle against team that makes them run, we need to run every possession ,we cannot let them set their half court defense.
Gonna be a close game both ways tonight. Dick Bavetta is calling it
We gotta get Boston tired. The more tired they get on defense the poorer they will play on offense. Also gotta try to force rondo to shoot jumpers.
I'm at a loss for words... Jon Barry just picked us to win..
KG should not be playing in this game. He elbowed JJ Barea on purpose, and then actually slapped a REF's hand away. Twice. But he most likely will be playing since KG is intense. Without him, I think we win.
Garnett, unfortuntately, is a guy who can get away with anything in the league strictly because as you said he's viewed as "intense". I hate Garnett, he's a thug and one of the dirtiest players I can recall, especially of his generation.

Celtics and Magic Clash on Super Bowl Sunday
Sunday, February 6, 2011

OrlandoMagic (32-19) at Boston Celtics (37-12)
Sunday, February 6
2:30 PM ET
Regular Season Game #50, Home Game #27
TV: ABC, CHCH-TV
Radio: WEEI, WDBO, ESPNR
TD Garden
Referees: Dick Bavetta, Jason Phillips, Olandis Poole
This is the third and final regular season meeting between these two teams. The Magic won the first game in Orlando on Christmas Day 86-78. The Celtics then came back and returned the favor in January with a 109-106 win in Boston. This is the rubber match for bragging rights and the tie breaker should they somehow end up with the same record at the end of the season.
In their first meeting, Rondo was out and the Celtics had just 15 assists and shot just over 35%. KG was also playing his first game back after missing 9 games with the calf injury. On the Magic side, they had just made the trade to bring Turkoglu, Richardson, and Arenas to the team. Both Shaq and Howard sat out most of the game with foul trouble. In the second game, the Celtics had Rondo back and got back to a more Celtic-like 25 assists and shot 60% for the game.
The Celtics are coming off a tough loss to the Mavericks after a successful 3-1 trip out west while the Magic are coming off of a big win over the Wizards after a tough loss to the Heat at home. Speaking of the Heat, they trail the Celtics by just 1.5 games after Friday's loss to the Mavs.
The Magic are 6-4 in their last 10 games and 14-12 on the road. The Celtics are 7-3 in their last 10 games and 22-4 at home. The Celtics tend to get up for big games, especially after a big loss. The Mavs became the first team to beat the Celtics twice this season and I'm sure the Magic would love to join them in that exclusive club. The Celtics won their first afternoon game on ABC against the Lakers. They are going to need that same kind of effort to come out again with a win. Read more »
