Celtics Visit Bobcats Looking to Continue Streak
Saturday, December 11, 2010
by FLCeltsFan 12:21 PM
Boston Celtics (18-4) at Charlotte Bobcats (8-14)
Saturday, December 11
7:00 PM ET
Game #23, Road Game #12
TV: CSNNE, SSO-CHA, NBA-LP 755/756
Radio: WEEI, WFNZ
Time Warner Cable Arena
Referees: Dan Crawford, Curtis Blair, Matt Boland
This is the first of 4 meetings between these two teams. The Bobcats are 5-5 on their home court, but they are far from an easy win. None of those losses have been by greater than four points, and that includes games against Orlando, Utah, New York and San Antonio. The Bobcats have also shown they can beat quality opponents at home with their last three wins coming against Denver, Houston and Phoenix.
Even through the Celtics won the series with the Bobcats 3-0 last season and have never lost a season series to them, the Bobcats always play the Celtics tough. The Celtics definitely can't afford to take them for granted. The Bobcats are playing in the second of back to back games and had to travel home from Indiana overnight for this game. The Celtics had a day off between games. The Bobcats are 4-6 in their last 10 games and 5-5 on their home court. The Celtics are 9-1 in their last 10 games and 8-3 on the road. The Celtics are looking for their 10th straight win while the Bobcats are coming off a loss to Indiana.
Stephen Jackson leads the Bobcats in scoring at 18.6 points per game. Gerald Wallace is their leading rebounder at 8.1 rebounds per game. DJ Augustin leads them with 6.7 assists. On the Celtics side, Paul Pierce leads the team with 18.5 points per game while KG leads in rebounding at 9.6 and Rondo leads the league with 14.1 assists per game. This is definitely not a team the Celtics should underestimate. They are young and hungry and have a way of hanging around in games. The Celtics need to come out focused with the mindset of putting them away early.

Comments From the Other Side - Sixers 12/9
Friday, December 10, 2010
by FLCeltsFan 1:40 PM
Some interesting comments today. I'm always amazed to read comments from fans who wish a career ending injury on players. I mean, I hate Kobe and LeBron as much as the next person, but I would never think of wishing a career ending injury on them. I do wish shooting slumps and losing streaks on them, but not serious injury. Just amazes me that some fans think like that. There wasn't much hope that the Sixers would win this one in the beginning. They gained some hope at the end when their team hung in there only to lose a heartbreaker in the end. No wonder some of the Sixers fans seem rather depressed. Enjoy this edition of Comments from the Other Side...
How ironic that the Leprechauns from Beantown will be the ones to end our little fool's good hot streak. (4 out of 5) Of course we might get lucky and catch them napping on the second night of a back to back, but I wouldn't count on it.
We might steal this.. Rondo is not 100%, so he might be rested on 2nd of back to back.. But beware of Allen, he is hot lately.
Man If there is one team I hate , it is Boston. I would Love to get a W tonight.
Old team on the second night of a back to back on the road after a win, against a young fresh team that's playing better than their record. I'm going with my usual score of 104-97 Sixers.
This team is so depressing. When are we going to be good? Or At least respected?
Hope Garnett has a clunker (they seem to come more often now), that PP gets in some foul trouble, and that Meeks can hold Ray Allen to just 8-10 more than he himself scores.
We just need some attitude. When teams have a bit of attitude and swagger against the Celtics, they usually win or at least come close.

Celtics Head to Philly Looking for 9th Straight Win
Thursday, December 9, 2010
by FLCeltsFan 2:42 PM
Boston Celtics (17-4) at Philadelphia 76ers (7-14)
Thursday, December 9
8:00 PM ET
Game #22, Road Game #11
TV: TNT, CSNNE, TSN2
Radio: WEEI, WIP
Wells Fargo Center Referees: Ken Mauer, Scott Wall, Leon Wood
The Celtics face the division rival 76ers for the first time this season. The fortunes of these two teams have changed since the days when Larry Bird and Doctor J went at each other. Boston has won 10 of the past 12 games vs the Sixers and Philly has not won at home over the Celtics since 3/30/07 (six straight losses).
The Celtics are 8-2 in their last 10 games while the Sixers are 5-5. The Celtics are 7-3 on the road while the Sixers are 5-5 at home. The Celtics are playing in the second of back to back games. The Sixers last played on Tuesday vs Cleveland. The Sixers have won three of their past four games and two in a row after starting the season 3-13 and they have also won 5 straight at home. The Celtics have won their last 8 games.
The Sixers handed the Celtics their only loss in the pre-season against the Celtics second and third units. The Celtics came into last night's game with a surprisingly full squad. However, Big Baby is battling a flu, Rondo still has the hamstring and foot problems, Shaq is still battling the knee problem and Marquis Daniels experienced some swelling in his thumb in last night's game.
The biggest danger for the Celtics in this one is taking this team for granted. They are better than their record indicates and they have been tough at home. The Celtics need to come in focused and put them away early so the starters can get some rest at the end. If they allow them to hang around, they could pay for it in the end. Read more »

C's Daily Links 12/9

I love how every team's fans think that they will beat the Celtics because they are old and slow. It's also interesting how some fans felt that they would get blown out and others expected a win. The most interesting thing I found though was how they kept talking about their injuries. Did they not realize that the Celtics have been playing without Perk, JO and Delonte and with half a Rondo? Much of the talk on the Nuggets' boards was about Melo and his desire to get out of Denver. Many doubted that he was really injured and it was a ploy to urge the Nuggets to trade him sooner. Anyway, some good stuff. Enjoy!
We're gonna get blown out by 30+
Comeback game, we got this. We have too much energy for them, even on a second night of a back to back
While the nugs lose to anybody on the road, they always seem to "show up" against the elite talent. A win here would take away that sting from last night..but the Celtics actually play D.
We'll win this one.
Good team = motivated Nuggets.
Hopefully Rondo plays so we can let him shoot all day.
This should be a loss, but with the Nugs life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get

Depleted Celtics Take on Tough Nuggets
Wednesday, December 8, 2010
by FLCeltsFan 11:35 AM
Denver Nuggets (13-6) at Boston Celtics (16-4)
Wednesday, December 8
7:00 PM ET
Game #21, Home Game #11
TV: ESPN, CSNNE, ASE
Radio: WEEI, KCKK
TD Garden Referees: Ed Malloy, Kevin Fehr, Kane Fitzgerald The Celtics look for their 8th straight win as they welcome the Denver Nuggets to the Garden. The Nuggets were on a 7 game win streak of their own before losing a close game last night to the Charlotte Bobcats. The Celtics have been off since Sunday afternoon and come into this game rested, but injuries have depleted the team. Big Baby, Shaq, Rondo, and Nate are all questionable along with Perk, JO and Delonte who are definitely out. Avery Bradley, Von Wafer and Luke Harangody may get to show their stuff in this one.
These two teams are on opposite ends of the basketball spectrum. The Celtics put a priority on their defense while the Nuggets are an offensive team, averaging 105.8 points per game, good for 5th in the league. The Celtics will need to play their tough team defense for the entire game to slow down this Nuggets team that has scorers at every position.
This will be a good chance for the Celtics to get a win over a quality opponent. Both teams have been playing well. Both teams are 8-2 in their last 10 games. Both teams have just 1 loss at home, but the Nuggets haven't had as much success once they leave home, coming in with a 3-6 record on the road. They are playing in the second of back to back games after a game that went down to the wire last night. This may give the Celtics a slight advantage, which they will need given all the injuries they are dealing with. Read more »

Comments From the Other Side - Nets 12/5
by FLCeltsFan 8:31 AM
Nets fans seem to be a very depressed group and you can't blame them I guess. There's a lot of hatred for their own players and coach. I'm surprised at the fact that they've given up on Brook Lopez, though. My favorite comments were when they called Nate a mascot and then noted that said mascot just completely destroyed their All Star point guard. I love it! Also when they said that Lopez would make Shaq look old and then noted that they said that last time before Shaq made Brook look like a school girl. Good stuff today! What are your favorites?
I like our chances today actually. Expecting another close game.
I think you talking about the Jets.
Brook Lopez is going to make Shaq look old
We said that last time. Shaq made brook look like a school girl.
Actually Lopez Has handled Shaq in the past, and very well so. This year, though, Shaq is looking too good for my liking.

Celtics Visit Nets for an Afternoon Game
by FLCeltsFan 10:59 AM
Boston Celtics (15-4) at New Jersey Nets (6-14)
Sunday, December 5
1:00 PM ET
Game #20, Road Game #10
TV: CSNNE, YES, NBA-LP 751/752
Radio: WEEI
Prudential Center
Referees: Joey Crawford, Josh Tiven, Sean Wright
This is the second meeting between these two division rivals. In the first meeting between them, the Celtics lost Delonte West when he came down hard after a dunk and broke his wrist. The Celtics won that game 89-83 but losing Delonte was a big blow to the team.
This is the second afternoon game for the Celtics this season. Their only other matinee game was in Toronto and the Celtics came out flat and they ended up losing the game 101-102. The Celtics haven't lost since and hopefully they will fare better in this early game than they did in that one.
The Celtics are 8-2 in their last 10 games and 6-3 on the road while the Nets are 2-8 in their last 10 games and 4-5 at home. The Celtics have won their last 6 games while the Nets have lost their last 3. In spite of their record, the Celtics can't afford to take this team lightly. One of the Nets' 12 wins last season came at the expense of the Celtics and they are capable of beating any team that underestimates them. Read more »
