RETRIEVING CONTENT...PLEASE WAIT
Please Excuse This Fact

I think its safe to say no one likes it when fans make excuses for their team when they are losing/lose. I read frequent posts by a lot of fans admonishing other fans for using excuses for your favorite teams woes. Almost every fan, at some time or another, finds themselves on one side or the other, and occasionally somewhere in the middle of this debate. Still, I find it interesting you can't argue there are real reasons as to why your team is on a losing streak.
Yes, injuries are part of the game and so are the Refs. So, at the risk of excuses the real and factual reason for the C's recent 3 game skid was simply...they need KG.
Some say well you got 3 other All-Stars in Ray, PP, and Sheed. But without KG's perimeter defense and leadership, Boston has looked lost against lower competition and mediocre versus stiffer contenders. Combine that with Glen Davis' slow return process, injuries to Daniels early on, Pierces knee infection, and Sheeds foot only compounds the loss of KG.
Last nights win against Portland shows what impact KG has for our team. Of course, it was obvious KG was slow and lacked explosiveness. However, he is the motivator and the glue that holds our team together when he's on the floor. So, I don't think its any wonder Boston won a close one last night. Without KG these close wins are close losses. Now, if we can only get 100% healthy...

Comments from the Other Side - Blazers 1/22
by FLCeltsFan 10:17 AM
Sheed isn't the only bad boy on the Celtics. I'm sure Jerryd Bayless remembers his last trip to Boston and Kevin Garnett barking at him.
I hope Jerryd tries to dunk on KG's head. I would give it about a 15% chance of success, but if he could manage it it would be the perfect vengeance for Jerryd to take.
Boston should crap all over us, especially at home. If anyone can tell me that Miller/Blake, Bayless/injured Rudy, Webster, Aldridge/Cunningham and Howard/Penders is not a very low lottery team they're kidding them self.
Ray Allen is going to have to guard one of Miller or Bayless. Either should have a field day.
Well hoping for a win, but against a Celtics team... Yikes. Maybe KG will jack up a lot and miss do to being a little rust. Doubt it, but okay.
Well we have done it with out Roy before so lets see what happens
Though I hope KG gets punched in the face
I think we goin win this game
Is it just me or does rondo remind you of one of those cross dressing prositutes you would see on cops ..lol
I catch myself thinking the same way. He's a hell of a basketball player thought.
I agree he is a heck of a baller....but lets just say I wouldn't be surprized if a kg and rondo sex scandal comes to the public
Game plan for opposing teams are to exploit the Blazers' lack of a center. Kendrick Perkins has pledged to donate a thousand dollars for every pt. He scores tonight...
Go figure another key player returns against Portland.. Lol and we loose players. Lol nice
Hate to say it but the blazers are probably going to take a big one to the chin tonight.
Its like children of the corn at the Boston game.
The C's announcers are calling LA out like crazy..
Attack the basket! Celts already w/ 4 team fouls...
Steps by KG
Bos announcers tearin LMA apart. Talking about how he plays zero defense
Sheed looks old out there \
Need to crank up the Defense. Celts are shooting +60%.
Wow 72% shooting for BOS
Blazers have no bench tonight Bos- 16 Port- 0 so far.
Por bench is there starters so your right they have no bench
LOL bos announcer on sheed "he got fouled! They didn't call it cause hes rasheed" lol wow and he was being dead serious
Wallace already at his avg, wow seems like former blazers kill us sometimes, Zach-Wallace etc, I bet some of ya wouldn't mind them being on the team now lol
I wouldn't want either of those head cases near our team. Thanks anyway.
Its like.. The fouls on Perkins works against us cuz they bring sheed off the bench..
Garnett ever gonna get called for a moving pick? This is pretty retarded
Isnt rondo supposed to be a defensive PG? Miller and bayless having a pretty good game so far on him
Someone needs to clock KG
I would have fought KG the first possession He can do watever he wants to people but doesn't like when people do it to him
KG is already acting up ? After just coming back, I swear that title he won got to his head big time
We're very fortunate to be down only 5 having given up such a great shooting percentage to Boston.
Halftime.. Down by 5 so really now damage done. We can still win this.. BAD turnovers in the first and suspect coaching. But we still can win
That foul on Andre Miller was the worse foul called I've seen all season long. That's just horrible.
Unreal, refs. When will they ever EVER be impartial?
Free throws have kept the Blazers within striking distance. If they can step up the D in the second half they just might have a chance.
the Blazers have shot more than twice as many free throws. The refs suck, but they have been calling more on them than they have on us. We shouldn't complain.
Bayless is hurt?
This is so ridiculous... Seriously!!
Celtics announcers are terrible. Andre's foul was definitely BS, and so was the offensive foul on Pierce. I don't think PP touched him.
We have played the Celtics even since the 1st quarter and we are playing with 8 players. 2 being 2nd rd rookies, and 1 over the hill center. Be happy with the fact that he has a battered team this close to one of the best teams in the league
That tommy dude is a closet racist
LaMarshmellow Cant Finish
Wow! KG FOULED LMA. NBA wont let KG foul out in his first game back.
Tired of Boston hosts Their TV commentators are terrible! I know everyone makes their team seem a little better than they really are, but these guys give Portland no credit and make it seem that Boston is the best team in NBA history.
Heinsoln making excuses Sounds like the L*ker announcers crying about how much they missed Gasol. The one guy they had out.
Howard needs a Retirement Home to go to
WOOOOOW.. Rando misses the layup
Rondo rebounds like ben Wallace
Who didn't predict this? Allen cold all night then hits the most likely game winner
The Leprechauns luck is ridiculous with the lose balls goin right to em lol
Aldridge always comes up small when it counts.
Boston u lucky...... Don't smile to big no Roy, bayless left early, and only lost by 3
They barely beat a very beat up team...and the fans are going nuts...get a grip
Garbage officiating down the stretch...
There was nothing wrong with the officiating.
Boston got lucky tonight. If Bayless doesn't get hurt we win this game. No doubt about it in my mind. He was playing great today. Next time Boston. Miller= The man without fear.
Boston wanted it more. Period.
BS The refs wanted it for Boston more. Boston was trying to GIVE us the game. IE the missed rondo lay up?
Refs basically swallowed their wistles in the 4th and OT...
If you think about it, that play where Garnett traveled and Rondo scored on should have been called. Then the Blazers win 91-89. Refs deciding the game again.
I hate to say it but but thug teams get calls and can beat on the other team and yell and gesture at the officials with no consequences but teams with nice guys seem to have the calls go against them.
The refs weren't that bad but that non call on the Rudy three is unacceptable.
I did not see a foul at all. Just because Rudy falls down doesn't mean he was fouled.
Refs were fine. They always suck, but I didn't see a problem with them. We had the game, and couldn't hold on to a rebound or make a shot to win it. What can you do!?
Celtics did not look good. They are at full strength???
Cleveland is coming out of the east. Celtics look T I R E D.
...this really wasn't a case were The Blazers played all that great. Andre Miller played well. But tonight was more of a case of Boston playing horribly. Boston kept trying to give us this game and we didn't have enough to take it.
The refs definitely did not cost us the game, we just didn't pull it out at the end, despite the best efforts from most of our guys. With that said, the officiating was absolutely horrendous. They blew calls on both ends all night, that out of bounds call that they took five minutes to review was a gimme. They called fouls that weren't on us and them, they didn't call fouls all night that were obvious. These refs basically slept the entire game, but that no call on Rudy was fine. Both teams had a lot of gripes that would be valid, I just think these refs make so much money that they should be held to a much higher standard.
This would have been a win if it was in Portland so many lame calls going the Celtics way period.
From the boxscore it looks like the Celtics had more whistles called on them then for them...
Yeah mostly cause they were hacking at every player they ever could. Celtics were bumping and pushing and slapping on every play. Next time don't talk about a game you haven't watched dude boxscore doesn't mean crap. I also like how many times a blazer player got mowed down on a loose ball with no call.

C's Edge Blazers In OT
by Loyalist 2:25 AM

KG's return is a cold night for Ray Allen, but turned into an OT win for the C's as they knock off Portland 98-95.
Boston was up 5 at the half scoring 55 points total and by the third quarter the difference remained the same despite Ray Allens (3-14) shooting woes. Ray even missed 2 technical FT's and I would like to see the stats on when the last time that happened. Pierce led Boston with 24 points. Followed by Rondo with 19 and Sheed off the bench for 14.
Both teams were able to exploit weaknesses in the other and it looked as though Boston could give up another close game when Pierce was called for charging with just over a second to go. However, Portland was unable to inbound and had to use a timeout. They failed to score on the second inbound attempt which forced OT.
Ray eventually hit a crucial and timely J which gave Boston the lead for good. In regards to KG's returning to the lineup, he seemed to struggle with his timing, speed, and explosiveness, but had 13 points and 4 boards nonetheless.

Celtics Take on Blazers, Hope for Boost from KG Return

Portland Trail Blazers (26-17) at Boston Celtics (27-13)
Friday, January 22
7:30 PM ET
Regular Season Game #41 – Home Game #19
TV: CSN-NE, CSN-Por, NBA-LP 759
Radio: WEEI, KXTG
TD Garden
Referees: Ed Malloy | Tony Brothers | Sean Wright
The Celtics won't get much sympathy from the Blazers if they complain about their injuries. The Blazers have been hit with one injury after another and come into this game with 5 key players out including Brandon Roy who left their last game after only 18 minutes with a hamstring injury. In spite of all their injuries, the Blazers have been playing very good ball and have built a respectable 26-17 record.
The Celtics are expecting to get a boost this game from the return of Kevin Garnett. He went through a full practice on Tuesday and suffered no soreness or problems the day after so he is expected to return for this game. The Celtics are almost at full strength once again, with only Marquis Daniels still out. We can expect KG to be rusty, but just his presence on the court should give his teammates a lift.
The Celtics' home court hasn't exactly been an advantage for them this season as they have more losses at home than they do on the road. Friday nights at home have been particularly rough for this team. Hopefully after having lost their 3rd home game in a row and 6 of their last 10 games overall, the team has regrouped and will come into this game focused. The return of KG should help their focus as well.

Kevin Garnett vs LaMarcus Aldridge
I am going by faith that we will see Kevin Garnett in this game. Just having KG back on the floor and on the bench will hopefully be enough to change the attitude that has invaded this team in recent games.
Keys to the Game
Play 48 Minutes The Celtics have been giving up big leads recently. The third quarter used to be their time to put other teams away but recently, the Celtics have been the team getting put away in the third quarter. They must maintain their focus in the second half of games.
Defense The Celtics have been losing their defensive focus and are playing defense in spurts. They seem to forget all about defense in the 3rd and 4th quarters as evidenced by the fact that they allowed Dallas to shoot over 80% in the 3rd quarter.
Rebound The Celtics have been getting out-rebounded in their recent losses. Much of rebounding is effort and focus and the Celtics have shown little of either in recent games. They have to grab the rebounds to prevent fast breaks and second chance points.
Focus Many of the Celtics problems are the result of a lack of focus. Whether they are blaming injuries or whatever, they haven't been following the game plan. There has been way too much individual play and not enough team play. They must get back to ubuntu and focus on playing as a team once again on both ends of the court.
X-Factor
Players Coming and Going
The X Factor in this game will be whether KG does indeed play and whether Brandon Roy will be able to play as well.

Comments from the Other Side - BONUS - Lakers/Cavs 1/21
by FLCeltsFan 10:53 AM
Watching the Cavs and Lakers play is pretty bizarre for me because I am cheering for both teams to lose. The ideal outcome would be for both teams to spontaneously combust on the court. I guess if I had to pick, I'd rather the Cavs win because although I don't like them and I really don't like LeBron, I do still like Delonte and they aren't quite as repulsive as the Fakers, who have absolutely nothing to like about them. Here is a fun look around the Fakers and Cavs boards during their game last night.
| Comments from the Fakers Side
Revenge !
time to swagger jack them back
This is get back time. Being down 0-2 in the season series wouldn't be good coming down the stretch more than likely. I don't think either team will just pull away.
Well we were 0-2 to the Magic last year too. How did that turn out ?
Bottom line is we need this game no matter what.
Payback!!!!!! I personally I don't think for a sec that LBJ and the Cavs could win the eastern conference but still... This is a must-win game!
Play hard. We have the ability to shut any team down when we put our minds to it and play like we care.
I think we get payback in this game. Christmas we looked like we were coasting through. I think our focus will be there tomorrow.
I am pretty sure we'll lose, I would love to be wrong though. After the game Kobe will either decide to hand the torch to Lebron or he'll wait until June to hand it to him. Kobe will then bow to him and proclaim "Yes Lebron you are my KING."
What a ray of sunshine How bout if the lakers win and Kobe outscores lebron, no negativity for the rest of the road trip til they play the Celtics? U can go back to the negativity when they head to Boston.
I heard something on the radio that disturbed me. When Kobe got hit in the hand, it effected his shot. So all defenders need to do is smack Kobe's finger and he'll be ineffective all game.
No Mo and no Moon makes the Cavs very short on the bench
Last year, champions were born on this road trip, beating Cleveland and Boston with a 62 in there as well... Hopefully we can get that same kind of momentum this year.
Well said, this road trip was what set us up on our journey to the championship last season. If we can get close to what we did last season, we should come out of this in very good shape.
This will likely be a LA beat-down without Mo. Him against Fisher was our big match-up advantage.
Do the Cavs ever get called for a foul? WTH. I am so sick of the damn Cavs everytime we play'em they get the benefit of the doubt.
I can't believe Shaq is out running Bynum..WTH
Ridiculous call on Bynum...
The lakers frontcourt showing why theyre the best frontcourt rotation in the NBA
You guys realize Cavs fans are going to go with the "Mo was out" card right. I'm good with it, we really can't gauge our boys against them until it's at full strength.
Both of our bigs with 3 fouls to start the 3rd.
Being serious.....the refs and league knows it the only way to neutralize the Lakers size advantage.
Did anybody see that no call when Shaq elbowed Bynum in the mouth.
That how Shaq used to play even when he was in LA.. So lets quit complaining now that he is on the other side..
WTF is James complaining about.. He gets a lot of those calls all the time..
For all you guys that called for Pau to be the main man at center..........take notes of the destruction Shaq is doing to him. Like I've said and already knew.........Pau can't play center period.
Lamar is the DUMBEST defender we have, I mean he just doesn't understand rotations at all.
Hopefully Kobe doesn't shoot us out of this. He's 4-15 since the first quarter.
We suck! We don't run our offense and we play no D!
Please someone get me a clip of that Bron flop.
Gasol is a big time choker when he's at the line in tight games.
Always misses clutch free throws, always.
We need a heart transplant and fast!
I have to put this one on Phil. The offense has zero coherence. What the heck is Bynum doing out there? Why are everyone shooting off balance jumpshots? Why is Kobe shooting us out of the game(again)? This team played with no discipline in the second half and it's no surprise the Cavs won.
The Cavs played a good game, but I'm so pissed at our soft weak ass attitude...
Pau disappeared today, Drew got scared by Shaq, was Lamar even playing?
Does anyone notice we just don't have "it" right now and this season? The only one who does is Kobe. We were winning these games last year against top tier teams and we were playing a whole lot better. We had that hunger, than anger when we played. We don't have it.. Right now.
People can lie all they want about us being so stacked and lebron playing with scrubs, but to me those guys play hardnosed defense and he has 3 of the top 8 three point shooters in the league. This cavs team is deep and poised to make a strong run at our title.
I don't care what anybody says Pau is sucking from his back to back extended summers. I told guys here he would be hit and miss all season. Tonight.......it was miss.
Sometimes players need to lose to see what they need to fix. I understand how poorly Gasol played tonight. It just means the coaches have to get the team to watch tape and fix it.
You learn more from losses anyways. I expect Phil to completely dissect the Cavs if we were to meet them in the Finals.
Yeah but we should have learned from Christmas.
I fear facing the CAVS in the final especially if they get HCA. But what worst is that I will STOP watching basketball if LeBron beat Kobe in the final and win a title. I REPEAT I don't EVER want JAMES to win a title EVER EVER EVER EVER. I don't even want him on the Lakers if it meant we win championship. My hate for James is beyond any other player
Fisher after 40 more games ain't stopping a pre-school basketball player come playoff time...not that he can stop anyone now.
The only real asset the Lakers have is Bynum. And the way he's been playing of late, his value is going down faster and faster. I mean Shaq totally wasted him tonight. And Shaq is like 20 years older
Kobe is the only player on earth where he can shoot like crap on 30 attempts and still have people defend him. No, I don't put everything on Kobe, but his insistence to shoot the ball knowing his fingers are jammed has done damage to this team.
Oh well, looks like we'll be meeting up with the Cavs in the Finals, hopefully we can still get HCA... We're not playing nearly as well as we were to start the season
We're not as hungry (or good) this year, so home court will be necessary for us to repeat. IMO. That's especially true if we face the Cavs or Celtics.
So no best team ever threads this week? Aight cool with me.
| Now, here are the Comments from the Cav's Side
Unfortunately in regards to the game, we're gonna have to hear Pau all night scream ARGHHHHHHHHH every single time he goes up with the shot...Oh, and please keep JJ away from Lamar... I've never seen a player get abused like Lamar did to JJ last year..
This one will be tough. Lakers are playing better ball lately and they will want to pay us back for the C-Mas day beatdown.
Laker fans will not be allowed to bring foam fingers into the arena.
The Christmas game can be written off as a fluke, but if the Cavs win again convincingly they have a case that they are the better team.
Kobe is hurting, so that changes the way the Lakers run their offense
Nah.....Phil and Kobe are both too stubborn to change the way the Triangle is run just because of injury. Kobe himself even said he'll still be just as aggressive, he doesn't want to give teams the advantage of thinking they can attack the Lakers differently. Besides his back is fine now, the index finger is still bothersome but it is what it is for him at the moment.
let's hope that finger iz fine enough to attempt 35 shots! God bless Kobe's wisdom
We are screwed with Mo out (against LA at least
No Moon, no Mo, Motivated Lakers = massacre at the Q.
Yes we all know that Mo Williams is the key to this team.I mean lebron is just some some scrub he cant handle the load.its all MO Williams
If Delonte doesn't play well we are screwed. We need him to step up.
Is LeBron ever going to show up for a Laker game?
Refs are calling this game ridiculously tight.
Kobe getting a lot of calls early in this one
Kobe can't defend lebron
Lebron just realized how to by pass Kobe's retarded D. Took him long enough..a Euro nobody did it in their first meeting.
Lots of BS fouls going against the Cavs so far.
Kobe is starting to play dirty to me
Kobe left his foot out to prevent Lebron from getting a highlight reel
I guess since LA is the home of Hollywood I shouldn't be surprised by the acting of the Lakers.
West and Shaq playing us out of the game
BS foul on LeBron. This is ridiculus
LeBron should really play the entire game.
We need this game I don't care if it the middle of the season. Its all about confidence swagger all those words that everyone uses. This will get in the lakers heads if we meet them in the finals.
I better not ever hear someone say that Kobe doesn't get superstar calls
Only LeBron would be relaxed enough to be rapping to the overhead music at the end of a tense game like this.
Yeah and it was eminems verse to! You could read his lips he hit it word for word! I was hyped seein that also!
The Lakers are indeed charmin soft on the inside... If we get Jamison and are healthy going into the finals, The KING gets his RING with ease..
LBJ has never even had a hangnail for an injury, Anabolic Steroids & HGH help. Kobe plays with multiple injuries don't get it twisted, Kobe is still the best player in the game. Excellent win for CLE vs. A far superior team. (from a Faker fan)
I've been consistent in the thoughts that the Celtics are a tougher matchup for us due to the interior defense and their PG's creative ability-- all of which the Lakers don't bring against this current Cavaliers outfit... In the past, sure, but not as of now..I don't see anything (and you and I have went back and forth on this when these two teams aren't playing) that suggests to me the Cavs cannot beat the Lakers come June...
Kobe played tonight without any lungs, kidneys and prosthetic heart..
Such a warrior..
In fact, I'm shocked that a guy with 8 broken fingers was able to get up 31 shots
....a preview of the finals
16 road games and 7 losses... Hmm....I question the authenticity of the Lakers record...

Broken Arrow! . . . Broken Arrow!
by bballee 10:07 AM
 I Say Again, Broken Arrow!
I get that even a very good team will struggle to compete with half its rotation missing. And it has been that bad, maybe worse. Of the starters--Pierce has missed a week and gimped through another couple of weeks, while Garnett has missed a month and when he returns will have accumulated rust and loss of conditioning. Rondo missed only one game but wheel problems are a critical issue for a game built on speed. Things have been even worse for the backup five. Three (Tony Allen, Marquis Daniels and Glen Davis) have missed months and took/will-take weeks upon their reappearance to return to full effectiveness. Rasheed’s sore foot (always a concern for a big man) and extra pounds have encouraged his proclivity to shorten the court 35’ by limiting his trip to 3-point line to free-throw line. House has only missed a game due to the flu (which made the rounds throughout the team) but has had a broken jump shot (can that be on a training room list?). Unfortunately the question of whether the assembled team can compete at the highest level, and that is the level at which the bar is set, will not be answered before the All-Star game. That doesn't, however, make it a moot question since it is a critical one, just unanswerable.
I get that it has been a half a season of makeshift lineups but that the Celtics still have a pretty gaudy record, dominate their division, and are being reassembled for play in May not January. I understand the natural, though still destructive, tendency to try to do too much when you feel your team slipping beneath the waves. I see the problems for Doc as he is constantly forced to slap together a rotation with the pieces he still has suited up. I get the problem for Danny Ainge as he left straddling the fence about rebuilding, reinforcing, or waiting out the deluge of injuries--and without definitive information as to what he has got.
I'm not pushing the panic button but only a fool would fail to note and be concerned at the rising tide of negative signs. The Championship Celtics were a team filled with urgency. The current team not so much, as their mood is more a lackadaisical and petulant pique at things not going their way. Whereas the title squad’s unselfish play some times led to passing to a fault, the current crew lean toward faulty passing. Usually the product of bailing out of an aborted drive, a too predictable swing after exhausting the inlet pass possibilities, or (especially in Rondo’s case) a pass to a vacant area that would have been occupied if the regular rotation player wasn’t in street clothes. The rebounding has been atrocious with the point guard Rondo leading the team on far too many nights and the front line caroms limited to Perkins and, well, pretty much Perkins. Turnovers have reached epidemic proportions. All too many of the losses have been team losses--they are in it together, everybody plays like dogs.
Not that there hasn't been ample individual failings. The shooters (Ray, Rasheed, and Eddie) are having awful years rivaling career lows. Pierce is back to one-on-three drives and if blocked shots were counted as turnovers he might be leading the league. Without a full complement of shooters available and producing, Eddie and Ray are struggling to get uncontested shots, and the three-point rain has dropped to a drizzle. Glen's hand has seen to it that his jumper is still missing and without lift his one-dimension as inside threat is an uphill battle. Scalabrine has been unable to hit his trademark (by that I mean only) shot, the three, and his allergy to rebounds has left the boards to the active, athletic opponents that he tries to cover. Even Rondo, as he tries to ramp up his game in the absence of a full complement of teammates, has gotten more shots blocked, thrown more passes to empty holes, and had more turnovers as opponents play him for the pass in traffic and/or his receivers are caught unprepared (Shelden are your ears burning?)
It is these across-the-board failures and flagging attitude that are troubling, and KG's return will not cure all the ills. So I am reminded of the radio message from We Were Soldiers Once calling for assistance from all available sources for a beleaguered unit in danger of being overrun by the enemy. And I’m standing here front and center announcing the issue because “You can't take any pictures from down there, sonny.”
Oddly this may be somewhat liberating for Danny Ainge because any changes (certainly big, little, or medium, and perhaps none) will be accepted in the light of "Things are getting pretty hairy down here!"

The $25,000 Baby
by Loyalist 8:36 PM

NBA slapped a $25,000 fine on Glen Davis a day after he shouted obscenities at a Pistons fan. Davis responded to being called "Fat Boy" by a heckler with alleged references to his manhood and what the fan could do with it.
Rivers said after in an interview that Davis needed to, "...grow up."
"We know what happened, and that's unacceptable. It's tough when the fans are yelling that stuff at you, but you have to be stronger than that."
According to sources, a post on Glen's (unverified) Twitter site offered an apology apparently on behalf of Davis.
"I'm a tough competitor and I'm proud of the work I've done to get in shape and be at the top of my game, That said, I shouldn't have said what I did. My apologies to the fans and my teammates."
This is Davis' second Character issue this season resulting in fines. The first being a team fine for an off-court fight with a close friend that ended in a broken thumb for Davis and crucial missed playing time. Davis' impact last year in place of an injured KG helped the C's into the 2nd round of the 2008-09 Playoffs. His being ready and focused was/is critical to the C's. Especially now that KG has had to be sidelined by injury again this year.
All this on the heals of Sheeds $35K fine for criticizing the Refs.

Comments from the Other Side - Pistons 1/20
by FLCeltsFan 10:56 AM
These comments are definitely more fun when we win than when we lose, but there are some interesting comments in this edition. Try to enjoy them in spite of the loss. I agree with Doc. This Celtics team feel like they are better than they are and feel like they can coast after getting a lead or like they can just turn it back on and they just aren't good enough to do that this season. Hopefully they will turn their attitude around because I like gathering these comments so much better when we win.
Our concern should be to reduce penetration from Rondo and don't let Big Baby get off on the inside like he has done in the past.
Our concern is getting healthy and then having the team play together long enough so we can get a really good run going after the all-star break. We're probably going to get killed by the C's right now.
Some people think Rondo is a punk (myself included). But if we had traded for Rondo, would he have been considered a scrappy Isiah Thomas 2.0?
I hope Sheed doesn't get booed. He deserves better than that.
I hate the Celtic's but I want Sheed to do well. I was always crazy about him and still miss him big time.
The thing about Sheed - if people boo him, he'll want to prove what type of player he is and this may actually be one of those five games he plants his butt in the paint for about 8 minutes and throws down 12 points while doing it.
With Sheed, it was just a question of how much he was slowing down and losing energy. I think for the most part, the fans and forumites still like him and wish him well. He had more character than some whole teams have.
I don't really miss anything about Rasheed. He long overstayed his welcome.
Garnett is out and Pierce is questionable. We might just keep this within 15.
Even without KG and PP this is going to be ugly.
The Pistons current starting frontline could be the worst in NBA history.
For whatever reason I think we have a shot at winning this one. Probably not though...
Welcome back Sheed? How bout go to hell Sheed. I hate him. I hope he retires without another win in his career
Did Rondo pay off Rip? That’s two terrible passes that’ve gone his way.
Rip needs to stop passing for the rest of the game.
Wow, Rip has no idea where he is, throwing countless terrible passes and letting Rondo drive in for an uncontested lay up….
Charlie should be posting up Scal as much as possible
Palace looks empty... Depressing
The officiating is unbelievable Pierce literally shoved JJ down for a “steal” earlier in the game.
I was pissed when Rasheed got away with a KG esque moving screen that would’ve gotten him an offensive foul, technical foul, and aggravated assault charge had he been wearing red, white, and blue.
Stuckey's getting mollested and no calls in his favor
Hey Glen Davis - You can't eat our players
Chucky was bodychecked by 2 Celtics players at once. How is that not a foul?
This Celtics team Is just loathsome. I get physically angry looking at them. And KG’s not even playing!
Rondo shoot 6-8 for 12 points! that’s just unacceptable!
Yeah, Stuckey is doing his best to give up as many points as he’s scored. Although, if we put Rondo on his ass on one of his drives, he might get a little skittish.
Well we learned one thing tonight Paul Pierce was as ugly in high school as he is now.
Thank God for Rip's amazing contribution tonight. 3 points, 7 turnovers
I bet you if we replaced Rip with a 2×4 with an angry face painted on it, we’d be tied right now.
Pierce is great at drawing contact. Sure helps when you can get calls just by flailing around a bit.
Why am I afraid that now that we’ve tied it, Boston will wake up and end up whooping us by 20?
Ray Allen vs Rip Hamilton in the battle of the useless SGs!
Turnovers!
Missed shots!
General lack of good defense!
Big Baby Davis Good lord, I hate him.
I know I'm a bit biased here But until Rondo learns to make his free throws, I can’t think of him as a truly elite PG.
I know he looks pissed without any real prompting but Perkins seriously looks like he might murder someone right now. I am amused.
I hate that guy.
Who doesn't?
Hey look, Ray Allen has stopped being useless. Rip? Not so much.
Sheed do anything interesting tonight?
Helped us come back and get the lead.
Sheed looks old, man.
Officials bailed Rip out.
I wonder if pierce is popping his jersey Tonight? Jeff@Celticsblog hates it when Detroit beats Boston. He's blaming it on KG not playing I'm sure.
Boston ain’t winning another championship with their current attitude. Too much bitching and whining for my tastes. I think Sheed being there just makes it worse.
Boston is a one and done team
Their “championship swagger” is turning into arrogance. They need to remember that they’re NOT the defending champs and they have to re-prove that they’re the best in the league, not assume it. I know KG being out hurts but they just are way too confident for their own good.
Very satisfying win. Boston is indeed an unlikeable team, and I basically like ’Sheed.
CV ain’t got the defense Sheed has.
CV ain’t got the BBIQ that Sheed has. But I’ll be damned if CV doesn’t have twice the heart Sheed has.
Ah, its always nice to see the Pistons beat the Celtics. That way all my friends that are bandwagon fans can shut up about great the Celtics are considering that they don't even know who Red Auerbach is.
It's sad that this win came on the day when the team officially got put up for sale. I hope we’re not watching the final days of the Pistons in Detroit.
Seattle Pistons?
You know what I hate?
How ESPN’s NBA page and NBA.com mention nothing about the Pistons victory…I was at least expecting a “Boston falls or struggles or misses Garnett” heading…
Ailing Celtics play poorly and lose to lucky pistons That would be the headline on espn
Slumping greatest team on earth is racked with injuries and beats itself to not win against the pistons.
My wife is doing what I can only assume is a victory dance.
Wow, if you can't tell, Your wife must suck at dancing. Sorry.
