Sheed Returns - Giddens & House Win Skills Contests
Saturday, January 16, 2010
by FLCeltsFan 8:28 PM
There is good news on the injury front as Rasheed Wallace was back in practice today and plans to play on Monday when the Celtics face the Mavericks. They are still planning on a Friday return for KG as well. Doc said that he expects to limit Sheed's minute in his first game back, but then again, he said the same thing about Pierce in his first game back, right before playing him over 40 minutes.
Today's practice was designed to give the team a break to have some fun as they try to get rested up from the brutal stretch of games they just went through and before they have Magic, Hawks and Lakers to end the month.
The team had impromptu 3 Point, Free Throw and Dunk contests. Eddie House beat out Paul Pierce, Rasheed Wallace and Ray Allen to win the 3 Point shooting contest. House also beat out Ray Allen to gain Free Throw bragging rights. JR Giddens edged out Bill Walker to win the Dunk Contest with the between the legs dunk in the video above.

Comments from the Other Side - Bulls 1/14
by FLCeltsFan 7:46 AM
With Garnett out I think we may win this.
Maybe we'll learn a thing or two about talkin trash. I still want hard fouls on Rondo
Ronda has been on a tear lately..he always seems to pick us apart and rack up big assist numbers against us though. Needless to say, I'm not too confident in Rose's ability to contain Ronda
This is a big game for Rose in terms of All Star votes. With it being so close to All Star weekend and televised to the nation, the kid can make a serious push for a reserve role.
With no KG all I ask for is at least one overtime lol
IF we can somehow win with Rose outperforming Rondo.. That will be huge for his chances of making the all star game. This is going to be almost the exact same team we took to 7 games last year.. Its not impossible.
Boston is a tough team and they defend Rose extremely well, plus Rondo seems to be one of the many PGs around the league who makes it a personal mission to outplay him
I feel we have a good chance of winning this one. Lets take advantage of this injured team while we can!
I would love to see Rose outperform Rondo, but I don't see Rondo having a bad game. We haven't been able to stop him for some time now.
Rose needs to attack Rondo and get him in foul trouble, which is exactly what Rondo will try and do to Rose. Bull must show hard on Rondo pick and rolls so he can't get to the basket, if not it will be a long night.
No one on the bulls can stay with rondO. Even a kgless Celtics will rip through the bulls tonight.
One year older for our team is way better than one year older for theirs.
That'd be true, except Perkins and Rondo have used that year to get a lot better.
Derrick, Noah, Deng(returning) getting better >>> Rondo and Perk getting better.
I would except a loss if Rondo gets his teeth knocked out by Kirk like he should have last year.
I have a very BAD feeling it will be business as usual. Bulls get blown-out. They just don't match up well against most teams
Hate those damn Celtics, especially Rondo.
Bulls are going to win this game, I guarantee it
I don't care if we win or lose, as long as Kirk puts Rondo ON HIS BACK!
With no KG they are a totally different team.
No Sheed or KG should bode well for us. I hope Rose breaks Ronda's ankles.
No way this is an easy win, even without Sheed or KG. I see this game coming down to the wire or even Celtics destroying us if Allen has a good night. He's the x-factor in this game.
Rose is torching Ronda early.
Scal should not be able to blow by like that
Well, normally I'd say playing the second of a back-to-back would be in our favor except the Celtics played the Nets. So, it was more like a practice session than a game.
I think the Celtics are going to age quickly as the season progresses
Noah has certain teams and people he pulls out big games for... The Celts are one of them
Wow, running the offense through Noah can truly be an ugly thing.
BS call!!!! I hate Rondo
Oh man, I forgot how much I hated the Celtics.
Ally, no other team gets that call
What a crap call. WTH, Boston is struggling on national TV, call a 2nd foul on Rose to help them catch up?
Refs are doin all they can to even this up.Celtics wont hit ft's
Its the same BS every time anyone goes to Boston....they get all the calls
If Derrick got the calls that this little **** got he'd be averaging 30 a game.
No reason in the world that Ronda should get all these calls, and Rose usually has to bleed to get any calls.
After that call, I think it's clear who the refs are going to let win this game...
Rondo has certainly perfected how to embellish contact. You've got to give him credit for that. He's at Wade levels of embellishment.
Refs doing all they can. Celtics not helping the much with these constant clanks.
I don't understand why we get so shafted by the refs.. This has been going on for a while now.
Hinrich is playing too good offensively, time for Doc to give the magic wink to the referees.
Does Perkins play on roller skates and a club on his arm? How does he not get called for traveling every play?
The reaffirms my hatred of the Boston Celtics. I hate everything about them. I hate their coach, their players, their fans, and even their arena. And they are a bunch of chuckers.
Also can we please never let Scalabrine get a layup again. Seriously if I'm Del Negro I bring in Gray and have him give a really hard foul on Rondo, whats the worst that can happen? Gray gets tossed, so what?
We can compete with the Celtics as long as Garnett is not playing
Celtics aren't winning. Refs have done everything possible to make this close. Celtics can't hit their free throws.
Nothing a good Ronda clothesline cant fix.
If rondo is one of the budding superstars of the league. That is not a nba I want to watch
2nd quarter means refs root for the Bulls. I like it.
And we put Celtics back in the game..Goshh I hate Eddie House
Glen Davis is fat.
Back to forcing terrible shots. Luckily the Celts are playing pretty sloppy ball too.
Luol is just abusing Pierce.....hehehehehe...I love it
Rondo is an AWFUL shooter, I mean baaaaddd.
No reason Scalabrine should dribble penetrate from the perimeter all the way to the basket
No reason Brad Miller should either...its gotta be some White Blur Syndrome or something
Wow they're giving Deng a lot of foul calls.
Scal probably is cheered for more than any other player in the league
It's almost like our effort and strong performance has earned respect from the refs tonight to finally give us some calls. Why the NBA works that way I'll never know.
I want to take Rondo's and Perkins' heads and just kinda.. Smush them together in the most violent way possible.
When I watch Eddie House play another team he never makes 3's but for whatever reason he never misses against us.
Boston are losing the game, more-so than we are winning the game because Boston have been absolutely atrocious at the line. 10-21 so far.
Bulls are the better team when Celtics are without kg shed and daniels
Brad's a flopper, every team has one.
Happy to see House go to the bench.
Wheaties Fuel. Looks intense! Scariest box of Wheaties ever.
The Celtics really have no business being in this game. We have totally outplayed them all night long.
They just seemed to be lacking a bit of intensity tonight.
Just start hacking Rondo, he doesn't know how to shoot outside of 7 feet.
Games are always close when KG isn't around. When KG plays we get blown out.
We should trade for KG
Rose is so much better than Rondo it's comical.
Rondo is good for a girl though. The Bulls just beat the Celtics and the refs!
If we can win this, we'll improve to 4-13 on the road, with 2 of those road wins being over Boston and Cleveland lol.
The Bulls just beat the Celtics and the refs!
No Garnett, No Wallace, No Problem!
Great win on national television. Too bad Lebron can't take notice, maybe he'll catch some highlights on sportscenter tonight
Well I'm sure he'll dismiss it as us beating the Celtics without Garnett or Wallace, which is valid because the Celtics are a mediocre team without Garnett.
Celtics were pretty listless and made some bad decisions, but the Bulls played well on both ends.

Celtics Brace for the Running of the Bulls
Thursday, January 14, 2010
by FLCeltsFan 2:53 PM
at![[image]](http://product.images.fansedge.com/45-06/45-06418-4-P.jpg) Chicago Bulls (16-20) at Boston Celtics (27-10) Thursday, January 14 8:00 PM ET Game #38, Home Game #17 TV: TNT Radio: WEEI, WMVP TD Garden Referees: Ron Garretson, Joe Forte, Eli Roe
The tired and depleted Celtics return to the Garden to take on the Bulls. They handled this Bulls team easily twice this season when they were at full strength. But, the Bulls would love to knock off the Celtics whether they are at full strength or not. The Bulls are still smarting from the loss in the playoffs last season and will be playing with a chip on their shoulder looking get a win in Boston.
Not only are the Celtics depleted by injuries, but they are are also playing in yet another back to back situation while the Bulls have been off since Monday. At least the Celtics had an easy time with the Nets last night as he starters were able to sit out the 4th quarter and no starter played more than 30 minutes.
The Bulls have not been a good road team this season, with only 3 of their wins coming on the road. The Celtics are 11-5 at home and have been far from invincible at home this season. The Bulls are looking for their 3rd win in a row while the Celtics are looking to get their second in a row. The Celtics need to get off to a quick start and keep the Bulls from running because if the Bulls get out to a lead, I'm not sure if the Celtics have enough left to pull themselves back into it.
Probable Starting Matchups Point Guard
vs ![[image]](http://assets.espn.go.com/i/nba/profiles/players/65x90/4387.jpg) Rajon Rondo vs Derrick Rose
Shooting Guard
vs ![[image]](http://a.espncdn.com/i/headshots/nba/players/65/1981.jpg) Ray Allen vs Kirk Hinrich
Small Forward

Center
vs ![[image]](http://a.espncdn.com/i/headshots/nba/players/65/3224.jpg) Kendrick Perkins vs Joakim Noah
Key Matchups
vs![[image]](http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nba/chicago/DRoseChi.jpg) Rajon Rondo vs Derrick Rose It is personal between these two point guards ever since they faced each other in the opening round of the playoffs last season. Rondo has clearly had the edge in their matchups so far. Derrick Rose has been playing very well and Rondo has been playing big minutes because of all the injuries on the Celtics. This should be a fun matchup to watch once again.
vs![[image]](http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nba/chicago/DengChi.jpg) In the past, Deng has defended Pierce as well as anyone in the league, but in their last meeting, Pierce seemed to have found the secret to beating Deng's defense as he scored 22 points to just 4 for Deng. The Celtics will need Pierce's scoring in this game and hopefully he will once again be able to get past Deng's defense.
Honorable Mention
vs ![[image]](http://a.espncdn.com/i/headshots/nba/players/65/3224.jpg) Kendrick Perkins vs Joakim Noah There seems to be no love lost between these two centers. Noah has to be one of the most irritating players in the league and he tends to get under his defenders' skin. Noah plays hard and will be a tough matchup for Perk. Hopefully Perk will be able to keep his cool and avoid getting technicals in this one.
Keys to the Game Defense - Defense is the key to every game this season. The Celtics need to guard the perimeter as well as the interior because the Bulls have outside scorers as well as guys who can take it to the basket.
Rebound - The Celtics need to put out the effort to go after rebounds on both ends. When the Celtics get the offensive rebounds, it not only gives them second chance baskets, but it also prevents the Bulls from getting out on the break and the Celtics need to grab the defensive rebounds to prevent the Bulls from getting second chance points.
Keep Cool - This could be a physical game and both teams have some very combustible players. They need to keep their cool and not let the Bulls goad them into technical fouls.
Take Care of the Ball The Celtics have been turning the ball over way too much and must focus on taking better care of the ball and making their possessions count instead of turning the ball over.
Fast Start It is important for the Celtics to get off to a fast start in this one and take the Bulls out of the game early. If they allow them to hang around, the Bulls may steal this one at the end.
X Factor Fatigue The Celtics are playing in the 4th game in 5 days. The starters have had to log big minutes because of the injuries and Doc's refusal to play the young guys on the bench. At least the starters got somewhat of a rest vs the Nets in the first half of this back to back set. If the Celtics allow the Bulls to run, they could very well run out of gas before the end of the game.

Comments from the Other Side - Nets 1/13
by FLCeltsFan 8:41 AM
You almost have to feel sorry for the Nets fans. Having gone through the Celtics 22 year drought and some awful teams through that time, I really do know how they feel. But it didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying this game and the Comments from the Other Side.
Would like to see Yi drive to the basket more tonight instead of setting for shots. He has been off the last two games, and he needs to get going by attacking the rim.
Yi fears Perkins
Look at it the Celtics are playong with out Garnett.Rasheed Wallace is out and there starting Scalabrine and Paul Pierce is no were near 100%.
What iam looking forward to tonight is a good blow out so that our guys can get there confidence back.A blow out would mean a lot going against the Celtics.
Kevin Garnett is out and Rasheed Wallace is listed as day-to-day. We have to stop Rondo... He has been tearing it up
Nets steal this one.....
I can't get excited anymore.
I know it sounds pessimistic, but we are gonna go down early.
I was gonna go with one of my classmates who made Varsity (because of his height) to teach him the rules & "show him how pros (the Celtics) play."
Don't teach him how to play like the Celtics. He will end up getting technicals and punching people while playing basketball. Celtics are filled with bunch of thugs who thinks they are the best in the NBA
The Nets should just save a lot of people the time and effort and forfeit At least injure a Celtic and make it worthwhile.
Getting smoked already. Screw this team.
Scabarine is torching the nets and Yi looks 15mins late to rotation
Opponents come into our house and can sleepwalk to easy victory. Don't have to even try. Just let Nets bumble their way to defeat. Now we're giving away shirts with opponents logo on them. Haven't felt this down on team in many years. Laughiingstocks.
Just a pathetic effort by this team defensively...makes me sick to my stomach watching this crap.
This team basically plays like they don't care. No effort, they make a ton of mistakes, hack/foul left and right. Its a joke. This team needs to get demoted to the NBDL...
Very sad to watch They have NO Pride, they show NO emotion, they can't even put up a good effort. Make the starting 5 come off the bench...Give me a whole new starting 5.
The Nets need to watch this game 1,000 times. The Celtics are showing them how basketball is supposed to be played. They're the reason I'm still watching this game. It's an absolute clinic.
lol...wow they getting completely dismantled by the celtics bench. I imagine this team has just lost too many games, the effort is just not there. I honestly didn't think it was possible for us to get less than 10 wins but it's games like these have me thinking otherwise.
I know I'm gonna sound like an idiot but I honestly would have preferred Frank running this team until the end of the season. Kiki is just... awful.
I'm only watching to see if it's possible that we loose by 60.
This is just stupid... Someone in the crowd needs to get into a fight with Paul Pierce, pretty much he only way to salvage this game is if we can get someone on the Celtics suspended.
The first half's score,71(2*35+1) vs 35,which I have never seen before.
71-35 at halftime! WERE STILL IN THIS!
Rondo is a bum and is horrible.
Yeah he's totally the reason they're winning
Why does Boston get to have an S. Williams on its squad?
Scalabrine instead of a Garnett and Yi hasnt done anything. Love to hear from NI (Yi's apparent lawyer) about this one.
This sucks! THE CELTICS ARE NOT EVEN AT FULL STRENGHT!
Is there anyone that wouldn't do a Harris for Rondo trade now?
Wow. They might keep pace with them for the 3rd quarter. I smell another moral victory. By my count theyre almost at .500 with moral victories.
Brian Scalabrine is haveing a career game
Yi's new found aggresiveness doesn't make up for the fact that he is the worst defensive player in the league. CDR only scores in 1 quarter each game. Lee is well.. Lee, a limitied guy only getting minutes because we're that awful. Harris has regressed so much with the way he's playing it's amazing how we ever thought this guy was a perenial all star.
The officiating has been fine, some strange calls but for the most part most of the fouls on our better players were legit. The Celtics are such a better team then us in every area, it's like watching the mighty ducks play the varsity team without Adam Banks.
Nets holding Eddie House SCORELESS. Awesome D!
House hasn't been held without a point since . . . Ok, Monday. But still .
Yi just grabbed his first rebound with 15 seconds left in the 3rd quarter... He might just end up with 2 when it's all said and done..
It's more obvious than ever that the Celtics know the Nets entire offensive repertoire. They are in every passing lane and this isn't the first team that's done it. The Nets meanwhile appear to be working entirely off of defensive principles while ignoring what the other team is doing.
This team is unwatchable. That is all I am gonna post tonight about the Nets. They are a disgrace.
This is by far the dumbest team I have ever seen. Seriously... no BBIQ whatsoever..
There really is no defense for this team (on or off the court). This team truly is the worst team in the history of the NBA.
This team is terrible. The game tonight was brutal to watch. But yet, like a train wreck, I still watched.

Celtics Look to get Back on Track vs the Nyets
by FLCeltsFan 9:52 AM
at ![[image]](http://images.footballfanatics.com/productImages/_258000/FF_258624_s.jpg)
Boston Celtics (26-10) at New Jersey Nets (3-34)
Wednesday, January 13
7:30 PM ET
Game #37 Road Game #21
TV: CSN-NE, YES HD, NBA-LP 755, 756
Izod Center
Today's Referees: Bill Kennedy, Curtis Blair, Rodney Mott
The Nets have won only 3 games so far this season but they shouldn't be taken for granted because they have some players who are capable of big games. We remember Courtney Lee going off on the Celtics when he played for Orlando in last year's playoffs. Yi and Brook Lopez have been playing well. Devin Harris is an all star. They also have Chris Quinn who can get hot from beyond the arc.
The Nets are 1 -9 in their last 10 games while the Celtics are 5-5, as they battle through a series of injuries and illnesses. The Celtics are 15-5 on the road and the Nets are just 2-15 at home. The Nets have been resting since losing to the Spurs on Sunday while the Celtics are playing in their 3rd game in 4 nights.
While posting the Nets' roster, I kept thinking: "He's still in the league?" They have a nice starting lineup, but their bench is mostly expiring contracts waiting for the big 2010 free agent class. But, in spite of all this, the Celtics can't overlook this team. The Celtics have a game on Thurs vs the Bulls and it would be nice to put the Nets away early and get the starters some rest.
Hopefully everyone will keep their cool in this game because we have Bill Kennedy on the officiating crew again. The last time he called a Celtics game he followed Rasheed to the huddle in order to listen to what he was saying in the huddle and then tossed him because of it. He has had it in for Doc and the Celtics since Doc's complaints caused him to be fined for unprofessional conduct. I really don't want to be frustrated though another game where there is a biased ref making bad calls throughout the game.

Rajon Rondo vs Devin Harris
The first time these two teams met this season, Harris was out with an injury. Last season, Harris beat out Rondo for a spot on the All Star team and hopefully Rondo will remember that and be motivated for a big game instead of taking this team for granted because of their poor record. Harris missed the Nets' game vs the Spurs with a sore wrist but with 3 days rest since their last game, he is expected to play in this one.

Kendrick Perkins vs Brook Lopez
Lopez has been one of the bright spots for the Nets in an otherwise dismal season. Lopez is ranked 3rd among centers in scoring at 18.6 points per game and has 15 (20point, 10rebound) double doubles this season which is first among all centers.
Honorable Mention
Brian Scalabrine vs Yi Jianlian
Assuming that Doc goes with Scal for the start again, he will be matched up against Yi Jianlian who has been playing very well lately. Over the last 9 games, Yi has been averaging 18.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He plays mostly on the perimeter rather than banging inside and so it would seem that Scal would be the best available big man to guard him.
Keys to the Game
Limit Turnovers The Celtics must take better care of the basketball. They have been turning the ball over at an alarming rate and must make better passes and keep their focus so as to limit these turnovers.
Rebound Rebounding shows the amount of effort and desire a team has. The Celtics must bring both effort and desire and crash the boards on both ends.
Defense No explanation needed. Defense is the key to winning. Period.
Play 48 Minutes The Celtics seem to either be hot at the beginning and then let up at the end of games or they come out sluggish and have to play catch up the entire game. They must come out focused and stay focused for the full 48 minutes.
X-Factor
Fatigue
The Celtics starters have been playing big minutes recently. Key players have been out and Doc refuses to play the young guys and so Ray especially is logging 40+ minutes per game. They are playing in the 3rd game in 4 nights along with travel after each game and so fatigue could come into play in this one.
