Ray Allen Uncertain for Road Trip
Saturday, November 28, 2009
by FLCeltsFan 2:02 PM
This just posted by Chris Forsberg on Twitter:
Doc says Ray Allen is away from the team due to an issue with his son, Walker. Wouldn't elaborate, uncertain on road trip status. And from the Globe:
Celtics guard Ray Allen missed practice Saturday to be with his son, Walker, who was hospitalized, according to a team source. Allen's status for the Celtics' visit to Miami Sunday has not been determined.
Walker Allen, who suffers from diabetes, was hospitalized Friday. Ray Allen scored 20 points in the Celtics' 116-103 win over Toronto Friday night, leaving the game with 2:08 remaining to visit his son.
My prayers are with Ray and Shannon and Walker. Hopefully it is not serious and he will be on the trip with the team but family comes first. I know how hard it is to have a sick child. Nothing else matters at the time.
Marquis Daniels practiced with the first team and will probably get the nod to start if Ray can't make the trip. Those who have been calling for the team to trade Ray may get a glimpse of life without him.
UPDATE
This just posted by WEEIGameday
Ray Allen is with the Celtics and traveling with them to Miami for Sunday's game.

Walker Sees Action with Red Claws
by FLCeltsFan 12:40 PM
From Chris Forsberg on ESPN
Celtics forward Bill Walker, assigned to Maine of the NBA Development League last weekend as he recovers from recent knee surgery, scored a team-high 25 points as the Red Claws fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, 112-95, in their season-opener Friday night.
Walker connected on 8 of 18 attempts overall, while adding 11 rebounds, 2 assists, and a blocked shot. He did commit a team-high five turnovers in 32 minutes, 45 seconds of action. Their next game is tonight Sat, Nov 28 at Dakota at 8:00 PM ET. Since the Celtics aren't playing tonight, you can catch the game on NBA Futurecast.

Comments from the Other Side - Raptors 11/27
by FLCeltsFan 10:36 AM
One thing I have to say about the Raptors fans, they might not like their team very much but they sure to talk about it a lot. One board had over 90 pages, one had over 50 and a third had over 20 pages. Most of the posts were trashing their own team, but there were a few gems about the Celtics too. Enjoy!
Team might as well forfeit and head back to T.O....
Excuse me, while I go and have a nightmare about the next game.
Prediction
Raptors come out firing
67-55 at the half.
Everyone is excited at how quickly this team turned around
Final Boston 116 - Toronto 98
There's no "D" in Toronto Raptors... But there's a crap load of "O's"
Sad thing is, despite this negativity, they actually will show up for this game and lead for a decent amount of the game, but then go back to their old ways in the 2nd half. What a predictable team we have on our hands..
Prediction: KG shoves CB4 to the floor 3 times and CB4 just shrugs it off...rest of the teammates don't stand up for CB4 because they're pussiesJose GEts burned on D repeatedly, Tries to make up for it by handing Gatorade to the rest of the bench Boston has a 20 pt lead at the 8 minute mark of the 1st quarter
Prediction: Garnett goes up to Jose and punches his defence-less face.
Then when Jose's down, I hope KG sacks him too, then proceeds to go over to the bench and sack Jarrett Jack along with Jay Triano and Antoine Wright....he is allowed to do this without suspension. He gets a by in the first round of the playoffs if he does it.
Don't really have much confidence in this team right now
There gonna win this one for sure.
Boston is Overrated and we're underrated cause we lost today.
I call a Hedo buzzer shot Raps win 108-107.
In an effort to sustain the one step forward one step back theme, I suggest we will win one of the next 2, followed promptly by threads about how big we should build our trophy case, and lose one of the next 2, followed promptly by threads about where we should hide the bodies.
Best case they play like they did against Phoenix, lost in the 4th, worst case we get blown out like in Denver.. Either way, no chance for a win here.....
I am almost praying for a beat down like the one we got from Denver last year so we can finally get rid of JT and get a real coach like Saunders or JVG.
Its the physical players that bully us. And unfortunately with KG/Sheed/Perk/Rondo that's just whats going to happen Friday. Guys like SJax/Gwall just killed us because they are physically taking it to our wings, this time it will be the bigs turn to get bullied.
KG "I'M'A BULLY THESE N.... O wait, white guys."
I guarantee you Jay will pull out his starters for the game after 1 quarter once we're down 20
Like 'em or hate 'em, Celtics at 80% effort will still beat the Raps comfortably. Celtics, 116-88.
Boston beat Charlotte by 33 earlier this year, we lost to them by 35... Uh-oh.
We sure don't play like we should be we always play Boston well and the Celts are very shaky right now. Close game, Raps win...
I'm actually feeling a win here tonight. The Celtics have been struggling big time lately and will under estimate the Raptors thus resulting in a loss for them!
If the game is close, the Raps should start hacking Rondo. He is shooting 33% from the free throw line
2 bosh killers on the same team. I expect another horrible game from bosh.
I don't care what happens if I get to see someone put KG on the ground. It's a shame the Raptors are a team of nice guys.
I hate KG and Rondo
Sheed is still a but chunky and not in his best game shape.
KG is still a bit gimpy.
If there's any time for Bosh to shake off his demons against these guys it's now. Statement game for him.
There is no way we are going to beat them...They actually play defence we have like no chance cause our defence is our offence LOL
I'm expecting the Malace at the Place, Air Canada style. If Garnett starts acting like the racist dick he is, and start waving fingers at our players, I wanna see someone their beer at him.
I wouldn't waste my ice cold beer on that clown.
Chris is completely indimidated
Our shots are going in now but during the second half when Boston tightens their D and we hit a wall, the game will be over
Interesting fact so far: Boston have so many points in the paint and all of them uncontested = 0 free throws for them
Wright is a freakin black hole. He's like a fat kid with a candy bar. Once he gets his hands on it, he ain't givin it up for nothin.....
Rondo looks like he's just messin around out there. He pretty much knows he can do whatever he wants at will.
Hahaha, Boston's shooting 83%. Hahahaha
Sheed only got the tech to make the game remotely interesting.
Sheed is still one of the most entertaining players in the NBA. Hes fun even when hes screwing around.
Looks like we have a fresh new excuse for the Charlotte game--they're killing the Cavs right now.
What happened to the Celtics league best defense. Did they decide they didn't need to try defensively tonight to beat us, so they might as well chill out and have fun?
When a team normally as detail-oriented and intense as Boston just goes through the motions like this, what you've got is a case of taking a game for granted.
Now we know why bosh never passes...
Because he can't.
We used to play up to our opponent.
That takes too much effort though.
So we found a way to make a team play down to us.
Most quiet crowd of the season...
Their voices are gone from cheering so much. It's not every day their team scores on every possession.
I wish Boston would start taking this game seriously right now and blow us out. Instead of waiting and winning by only 10-20 later in the game. Give this pathetic group more excuses to keep this garbage piled together.
Finally they whistle KG for manhandling Bosh
I'm pretty sure Boston is treating this like a scrimmage and getting some cardio in, and wer not winning anything lol.
Anyone notice Bargs run back and do a good job on Ray Allen after turning it over??? No, cause hes is the lazy and doesn't care and cant defend mah grandma....
Amir picks up fouls quicker than Eddy Curry35. eats bigmac's.... He has 3 fouls in 5 minutes tonight.
35 year old Ray Allen has more energy than our whole team.
Throw Pierce to the floor please. If you're going to use a foul, USE IT.
Wright needs to stop shooting NOW!
I will hire one of you to go take out Wright's legs. No joke, I'll pay you 1000 dollars.
$2000 an you have a deal.
As the season progresses, you will up that number.
Shoot, I'll do it for free man...just provide a crow bar, a six pack of Heinikens, and a ski mask and I'm game.
Our whole team is a team of scrubs
The refs decided it was time to get Hedo out of the game since he was beginning to burn the Celts. Just like they did to Bargs at the last game vs Orlando.
Even Kendrick Perkins dominates bosh - barg duo.. Worst defense in nba history
Perkins is a real center and has 40 pounds on Bosh, there's no way Bosh should have to guard a guy like Perkins unless on a switch.
If Pierce is just going to smash his fat ass into the paint every time at least make him pay for it.
This is the most frustrating raps team ever. I really hate this team
Daniels looking like the next Kobe against us
Why do I bother on being a Raptor fan?
H man PIERCE IS NASTY! That was fierce .... Pretty huge offensive foul though lol.
Sick stuff though.
Dirty play by Pierce.
I wish reggie was on the floor because he would punch pierce in the face next time he drives.
Our coaching staff should have started a brawl, it's not like they're doing any coaching.
Watch this **** get posted on nba.com as highlight dunk of the day. **** dirty play.
That play culminates tonight, Boston is just a tough team, we're not . . . Offensive or not, our team just got dunked over and bitch slapped.
Bosh is angry @ KG for letting Pierce hurt him.
I have the solution to our problems. We need to free Marcus Banks . I can't see how he can do any worse than Jose out there.
Perk 4 mvp
We need a Big like Perkins at the C position for this team to ever be successful...
Utterly disgraceful.
The complete void of D is incidental to me to the fact that not one guy confronted Pierce after flattening Bosh.
What was once incompetence is now that plus cowardice.
sometimes I wonder which one I hate most pierce or garnett?
I hate Scalabrine ... The guy eats his own press as a fan favourite.
How can they say we are inconsistent. We consistently play no D, suck on 3rd Q, and shoot jumper after jumper.
Wow. I like watching a lot of these aging veterans on the Celtics get back on D every time and all of our guys in their primes walking up the floor gassed.
Priceless.

Division Rivals Square Off at the Garden
by FLCeltsFan 1:06 PM
at
Toronto Raptors (7-9) at Boston Celtics (11-4)
Friday, November 27
7:30 PM ET
Regular Season Game #16, Home Game #10
TV: CSN HD, TSN, LP 754
Radio WEEI, CJCL
TD Banknorth Garden
Referees: Derrick Stafford, Tony Brown, Ed Malloy
The Celtics are undefeated in division play but they have struggled in their last two games against division foes as it took overtime to get past the Knicks and then a 3 point win over the Sixers in which Paul Pierce played 43 minutes.
The Celtics have been struggling on both ends of the floor but then, so have the Raptors. The Raptors have lost four straight on the road after a 116-81 loss at Charlotte on Wednesday. Toronto shot a season-low 34.5 percent and scored 35 second-half points in that contest. They have allowed seven straight opponent to score more than 100 points and are giving up 108.6 points per game, which is the worst in the Eastern Conference.
The Raptors are a 3 point shooting team and although they have been struggling, if the past few games are any indication, they will find their shooting touch in time to torch the Celtics in this game. The Sixers aren't known as a perimeter shooting team and yet were hitting from everywhere on the court in their last game.
After this game, 7 of the Celtics next 8 games are on the road. A win in this game would give them confidence and momentum going into the next tough stretch of games.

Key Matchups
vs ![[image]](http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nba/toronto/CalderonTor.jpg)
Rajon Rondo vs Jose Calderon
It doesn't get easier for Rondo as he faces yet another tough matchup. Calderon is a quick PG who will give Rondo problems if he doesn't bring his A game.
vs ![[image]](http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nba/toronto/BoshTor.jpg)
Kevin Garnett vs Chris Bosh
Chris Bosh is one of the top young power forwards in the game today but he always seems intimidated by KG and rarely plays well against the Celtics. He averaged 16.5 points on 42.9 percent shooting vs the Celtics last season, well below his season averages. Bosh is leading the Raptors in points (25.4), Rebounds (11.9), and Blocks (1.2) and so it is important to slow down Bosh Let's hope that KG continues to intimidate him in this game.
vs ![[image]](http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nba/orlando/Turkogluorl.jpg)
Paul Pierce vs Hedo Turkoglu
Turkoglu plays Pierce very well and he always seems to have a good game vs the Celtics. More than once, he pulled out a win for his team when he was with the Magic. Pierce's defense will be needed as much as his offense in this game.
Keys to The Game
Defense, Defense, Defense The Celtics must find their defense again. They have been allowing way too many open shots and easy baskets recently. They need to get back to what has made them such a tough team. Against the Raptors, they especially need to tighten up their perimeter defense as they are a very good 3 point shooting team.
Rebound The Celtics have to crash the boards on both ends. Defensive rebounds prevent second chance opportunities for the Raptors and Offensive rebounds given them extra shots along with preventing the fast break for the Raptors. Rebounding is mostly effort and desire and the Celtics need to be showing both of those things.
Take it To the Hoop The Celtics need to take the ball into the paint and either get the score or draw the foul. Quick 3's are not good offense, especially the way they haven't been falling for them recently. They need to run the offense and move the ball and make the extra pass.
Play 48 Minutes Recently the Celtics have been playing in spurts like they think they can just turn it on and off. They need to come out strong and build a lead in the first quarter instead of digging a hole that they have to work harder to get out of. They also need to keep their effort up and not allow the Raptors to get back in the game if they get up. They've been able to win the last two games with up and down play, but just barely.

Comments from the Other Side - Sixers 11/25
Wednesday, November 25, 2009
by FLCeltsFan 11:06 PM
Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving! Today I am thankful for each of you in my Celtics family.
My prediction no Lou Williams possibly no Elton Brand 76ers go down hard to the Celtics..
All in all, we're just shooting bricks for John Wall.
You know...I have the feeling this is a night for a "moral" victory. Not an actual win mind you, but a loss that I'm sure everyone in the locker room will feel not so bad about. A couple quotes about how they are just this close to being a really good team and how they can see it all coming together.
Ahh the only thing I hate more than kg....Celtic announcers.
Eddie Jordan: Please stop running your stupid college gimmick offense, secondly please sit Dalembert. That is all.
Brezec is in to beast the Celtcis better watch out!!!!!!
These ain't the same Celtics. I don't feel an NBA Champion from them.
They ain't hungry.
The Celtics are playing down to the level. They will turn it on soon.
Their no longer NBA title contenders. Now they're at the level of a borderline playoff aging team.
Wow Rondo kicks that ball and they just let it go for a PP dunk?!?!
They are playing good so far. Boston's bench isn't nearly as good as last year with Big Baby out and Powe gone. Sheed is a shell of the player he used to be, he just shoots 3's all game.
Kendrick Perkins and Kevin garnet, hold and push people around and almost never get called. Sam gets called for everything
They play better, offensively, without Brand, the defense is better without both Williams and Brand. That's sad and scary.
And Sammy is still a goddamn idiot. Why would you commit a foul on KG at the 3pt line? And now that.
Celtics can't pull away on there own so they got to get dirty now.
KG's messing with their heads..
He the best in the business at it. Remember the Calderon incident?
The Boston Sterns are at it again.
Kevin garnet out their trying to bully people around. Kapono wasn't havin it, thad looked scared lol
Prizmo looks like he almost threw his back out trying to defend garnet jumpshot.
He doesn't have a back. He's all heart.
Willie Green is having one of those games he frustrates you because it happens four or five times a year.
Dre needs to take some pointers from peirce about taking the ball to the hoop. I mean damn he would rather shoot jumpers that's not his game
Why did Rondo draw two defenders???? Wow, have some sort of defensive awareness.
Thad Young might be the worst finisher in the NBA
Not might be, he is the worst finisher in the NBA.
Wallace has the rep and there's no way that none of the other refs saw it. Wallace's elbow was vicious, Dalembert did no different than any other player in the NBA would have.
Pierce is the franchise. He is clutch.
Rasheed is done, he needs to go home. He is a jump shooter with no legs left.
This is the perfect scenario of how the Sixers, or any poor team, can beat the Celtics. The Celtics are ahead the entire game so they feel confident they are going to win and then just at the end the Sixers might get hot and the Celtics might get cold and the Sixers win. Still a long shot but it is a possibility.
And Pierce gets away with a reaching foul while taking a "charge". Horrible call.
That play right there is the main difference between Pierce and Iggy. Pierce would have pulled up and hit the 10 footer. Iggy drove the lane out of control and drew the charge.
Come on, that's an awfully ticky tack indictment, especially when you really look at the play. Iguodala didn't charge, Pierce wasn't set, reached in and got away with it. Getting away with a foul isn't something to give someone that kind of credit for.
You gotta be kidding me. Fall away jump shots from Rondo?
Doc Rivers turned out to be a good coach.
Disappointing end even though before the game I had little doubt we'd lose
Great performance by the team. Jrue Holiday and the team got roughed up by the Boston Sterns but they fought back
Tonight was a good game and the I'm glad Sixers played well. Having said that, this team sucks and it is for the best that they lost the game. They could be 4th in the lotto standings by Monday.

Celtics Looking To Start New Win Streak as they Host the Sixers
by FLCeltsFan 2:16 PM

Philadelphia 76ers (5-9) at Boston Celtics (10-4)
Wednesday, November 25
7:30 PM ET
Game #15, Home Game #9
TV: CSNHD, TCN-P, NBA LP 754
Radio: WEEI, WIP
TD Banknorth Garden
Referees: Joe Crawford, Eric Lewis, Scott Wall
The Celtics beat the Sixers 105-74 in their first meeting this season. I am sure the Sixers are coming into the Garden with revenge on their minds, especially if they have been watching the way the Celtics have been playing recently.
The Sixers are playing in the second of back to back games and in the 3rd game in 4 nights while the Celtics have been off since Sunday. The Sixers game last night went down to the wire as they lost to the Wizards by one point. Hopefully, fatigue for the Sixers and rest for the Celtics will translate into a win for home team.

Key Matchups
vs ![[image]](http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nba/phil76/LWilliamsPhi.jpg)
Rajon Rondo vs Lou Williams
Lou Williams is a young point guard getting is first chance at starting and is making the most of it. In their first meeting this season, neither PG stood out but Rondo had slightly better stats with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals to 7 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals for Williams. Rondo needs to be aggressive and go at Williams and he will be able to take advantage of the matchup.
vs ![[image]](http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com/nba/phil76/BrandPhila.jpg)
Kevin Garnett vs Elton Brand
This is a matchup of two recovering stars. Brand was out all last season for the Sixers and KG missed the last two games vs Philly with the flu and then the knee injury. KG has a height advantage but Brand has a power advantage. Neither player is quite 100% yet, but both can cause trouble if they get in a groove. KG and Perk will have to work together to guard the interior against a strong Philly front line.
Honorable Mention
Paul Pierce vs Andre Iguodala
Although Iguodala is playing the 2 guard, it will most likely be Paul Pierce who will be charged with trying to slow him down. Iguodala is the key to the Sixers attack. He leads them in points, rebounds, assists, and steals and the only category he doesn't lead them in is blocks. So, the key to slowing down the Sixers is obviously to slow down Andre Iguodala.
Keys to the Game
Defense
As I have said before, defense is going to be the key to every game this season and to winning the championship. The Celtics have talked alot about defense, but have been slipping in playing it in recent games. They need to get back their commitment to team defense.
Rebound
The Sixers have a good rebounding team and the Celtics have to crash the boards to prevent the Sixers from getting second chance baskets and they also need to crash the offensive boards to keep the Sixers from running the break, which they do well. The Celtics are next to last in offensive rebounding. Much of rebounding is effort and desire and the Celtics must show more of both.
Play 48 Minutes
The Celtics have been coming out flat and making runs only to go flat again. The Celtics need to get back to strong starts and playing the entire game instead of digging a hole in the beginning and playing in spurts.
Use the 3 With Caution
Live by the 3 and die by the 3, and the Celtics have been dying by it recently. If the 3's are falling, they are a weapon, but if they aren't, they need to go to the basket. The Celtics have been over relying on the long distance shot and they need to get back to driving to the hoop and either getting the score or drawing the foul.
