4 Key Players For Us To Repeat As Champs
Friday, April 24, 2009
by Unknown 6:16 PM
Ok, I'm going to single out 4 players and say our chances of winning a championship this year rests on them. This is with the presupposition that we'll continue to play excellent team defense, so I'll consider "defense" a given, and won't include it here. And also, every other player will need to continue playing their normal level--this is also a given (i.e. Perk puts up his normal stats, Ray puts up his normal stats, etc). So here we go; the 4 key players for us to repeat as champs
1) Big Baby Davis
I put him right at the top of the list. Without him filling in and contributing in place of KG, we're not going anywhere. His energy and hustle on the court makes things happen. On offense, his midrange jumpers stretches the defense. On defense, his bulk allows him to guard taller players (because he can push them further out, or keep them from getting into their comfort zones), and clear space to grab boards in traffic. He's currently playing beyond my expectations, but he may be proving that this is the level he can consistently play at. When he's scoring, rebounding, and filling up the defensive stats (steals, blocked shots, etc), we're on the path to repeating as champs (but not nearly there yet).
2) Rajon Rondo
When Rajon gets going, the team gets going. When he's pushing the tempo and creating havoc, we build big leads. But the opposite is true as well--when he slows down, our offense stalls too. Rajon has the gear to play at an All-Star level, but there are periods when he's just happy to be a spectator. For us to compete in the playoffs, we need him to step on the pedal for the entire game. If he does, we're closer to be title contenders.
3) Paul Pierce
Funny that our best player (now that KG is out) is 3rd on this list--but that's how it goes. If we are playing excellent team defense, and Baby and Rajon are going at it hard and producing results, we'll be in excellent shape to compete in every game. But to put us in the driver's seat, we'll need Pierce to be the offensive force we all know he can be--carry us when we go into scoring droughts, thrust the dagger into the enemy's back to finish them off. If he does this, we've got a shot to repeat as world champs.
4Stephon Marbury
Stephon can be the difference maker who gives us the final push to the top of the hill. He showed glimpses of coming alive offensively in Game 3, and if he is on his way back to his glory days, he titls the scale in our favor. Our lack of bench production offensively has been a concern--but he may single handedly solve that for us. Because he can create plays off his dribble penetrations, he can set up Ray Allen and Eddie House for open threes, and find creases for Baby midrange jumpers. And when defenses try to play honest, he'll attack the basket and get away with murder.
Marbury has the chance to be a major reason why we come up as champs this year. That's why I have him listed here at #4. He's a playmaker (potentially, if the rust is dusted off) off the bench. If he comes through in this role, and the other three guys I have listed above him all come through with their roles, I believe we can defeat the Cavs in the ECF and the Lakers in the NBA Finals, even without KG.
I don't believe I'm being blindly optimistic here. When all is going well, we are championship material. Our shot at the goal isn't as good as it was last year, but its still within grasp if we're playing championship level defense, and the team plays outstanding team basketball.

Comments from the Other Side - Bulls - Game 3
by FLCeltsFan 11:07 AM
I´m calling for a blowout, because big baby won´t be looking like an elite PF the whole series. Time for the real Kendrick Perkins and Big Baby Davis to stand up. Gordon and Rose have good, not great games, but a well-balanced effort will give the Bulls a 2-1 series lead on Thursday night. Book it.
I'm impressed by this team, they have done this despite the refs best efforts in 2 games now
I'd like to see Benny the Bull ride a bike into Perkins during a timeout
Provided the refs give Chicago the calls like they gave Boston the calls in the Garden, we should win.
The more we can stretch this series out the better. Boston is still a better team but they are short handed and I'm hoping we can wear them down, especially if the games follow suit of the 1st and the 2nd one which went down the wire.
But our bench is far superior to theirs. Their best bench player is already in their starting lineup and the next best guy is injured and out. We have to run their bigs into the ground! But we have two starting caliber players in Hinrich and Miller and Thomas
Bulls blow out. They barely beat us in their place and in our place we should blow them out. Another thing I didn't like about the game was Rondo's BS injury. The Celtics did this last year with Pierce. I just hope the bulls win this series so bad to shut up Perkins and did anyone else catch Garnett talking smack to the bulls after the win? There's no way Boston will win this series. They are the walking wounded. What they have left is the Celtics of 07. The last place C's. Stop Big Baby and Kendrick and we'll win convincingly. Too many people are expecting the Bulls to roll over Boston tomorrow. I was talking to some people at work who don't even pay attention to basketball but are all caught up in this series and think Chicago will win easily. I'm like, wuh? My first key to this game is SPEED - RUN RUN RUN those damn Celtics until they drop. Get those fatties moving up and downcourt. My second key is to limit POTTB's. Those would be Points Off Tyrus Thomas Blocks Pierce has to have the ugliest facial hair in the league. Stern is there. That's not good. Only the big 4 get to win when he is there. He can remind the refs of 'his plan' in person. Pierce is such a whiner... He has never ever committed a foul Both Noah and TT playing like retards so far
Looks like Vinny is at it again. What was the game plan going into tonight. Don't play defense and then jack up threes? When is Rose going to start penetrating? I thought Rondo was the one with the bad ankle. The crowd looks dead already, this is not good. Bulls crowd sucks. Even that Thomas dunk didn't get the kind of reaction it would have in Atlanta or Boston. I'm SOO Sick of Rajon Rondo.. Every second that Scal is on the floor, we should destroy them. I knew Rondo was good, but dear lord he looks like the best PG in the league in this series. Flagrant? Don't know about that We got a call there. Wow **** Rondo I hate his guts. Hopefully someone can put him hard to the ground.
Rondo with 5 rebounds. This guy is going to set multiple career highs against us. Hinrich and Miller are supposed to be starter level players, but we can't make up ground when they come in against Mikki Moore and Marbury?? Maybe all the games should be played in Boston we seem to play better there than we do at home . Fat Baby Davis has 3 steals.... Rajon Rondo is proving that he, not Rose, is the best PG in this series. Haven't we figured out that Rondo can shoot yet? This is truly terrible. Well, at least Big Baby is out so we can at least have the ball stolen by a guard or something.
Miller is only 32?? He plays like he is 40 This is a recording...STOP LEAVING RONDO WIDE OPEN!!!! He is MAKING HIS JUMP SHOTS!!!'
It's time to do a Tanya Harding on Rondo. BLAM! WHY?! WHY?!
Don't bother to put a hand up on Rondo. This kid is not as good as we make him look It's like the Pillsbury Dough boy at a Masons convention. Turnovers and Bricks. Foul trouble may be our only saving grace You want to know what's REALLY bad? I'm watching this with Tommy Heinsohn. Evidently Rondo is going to play every second of the game which I would to if I were him, are we even playing defense on him? Cuz if so I haven't seen it in this series. Looks to me like he gets no pressure at all. How bout double teaming him like they do Rose? Is it that hard? Where'd Rondo foul there? Can't say the refs are screwing us tonite. We are doing it to ourselves.
Rondo can shoot, GUARD HIM LMAO @ Paul Pierces quote. He's not even a superstar in this league and clearly not even on the same planet as DWade, Kobe and Lebron. Rondo's going to average a triple double this series. BOS isn't playing any better than they have been. We are the ones losing this, and can come back in the second half. Tommy Heinsohn couldn't tell if that was a foul on Rose. FYI. Miller is only slightly better than worthless. Rajon Rondo all by himself >>> all 13 Bulls players tonight Three on Rondo. They have STEPHON MARBURY in the game. MARBURY. Let's do this. Thank God Rondo is out. He's just been amazing all series.
Rondo has 7 boards. That's as many as Noah. Not acceptable. This is all Vinny's master plan, get all the Celtics in foul trouble then win in the 2nd half. We can get this to 6 by the end of the half. It looks like the Celtics took the Bulls lightly in game 1 but now, they are all business. Why don't they show or talk about our injured superstar, Luol Deng, like they do about Garnett? Um, because they know that Deng isn't a star...let alone a superstar? Jackie Moon just entered for Boston. Seriously. They've got Scal and Marbury out there. Lol Marbs for three. Not our night. Watch how Gordon's being defended. Then watch how any Celtic is being defended. The problem isn't any individual defender. The problem is there's no team defense. It's non-existent. So far in the series we've made Rajon Rondo look like Chris Paul, Big Baby Davis look like Kevin Garnett in his prime and Perkins look like Tim Duncan. Pierce really came out and set the tone. That's what a captain does. Walking the walk. Nothing but props for Boston. Rondo is just detroying us. Even though I hate Lebron James it'll be nice to watch him destroy Boston in a 7 game series, It'll be an easy sweep. Hopefully Bron dunks on that POS. Big Baby is almost on pace for a triple double...with steals. Rondo is the reason were getting crushed. He has our entire defense on their heels and the Bulls need to deny him the ball immediately. The defense needs to be designed to keep the ball out of his hands. Rose just sags off and lets him do whatever he wants too. Not even Duncan could outrun our guards for a break away dunk. Big baby is in a class of his own. Bulls lost the series in game 2, when they choked away the lead. Now Boston is back to being the real Celtics team. The Celtics are going to win this series now. This was the opportunity for the Bulls to step up and take control of the series -- and they blew it. Even if they somehow regroup for Game 4, Boston will win the series. Because Chicago isn't winning another game in Boston -- the Celtics are focused and angry now. No one on our team can stop Rondo. He's been killing us even with Rose off the floor. Big Baby beats our team down the floor. Bulls getting beat by a team who's powerforward looks like this? Perkins was right about the Bulls. They basically just got lucky the first game. How much of this is Rondo being this good or Rose's defense being that bad? I'd say 65% Rondo beign terrific, 35% Rose refusing to even attempt to play defense Come on, playoff intensity ain't hard fouls. It's execution. Cut it out, Tyrus. How the **** did Davis not get called for a technical? Perkins is a land mass down there. Rondo never does anything wrong, you ever notice that? He's been perfect in every part of the game. He never makes a mistake. Why does he have to do it against us?? Is Rondo reproducing out there? Dude is everywhere. After watching Tim Thomas attempt to go one on one against Kendrick Perkins, I can safely say I'm done watching this game. If you turn on this team, you won't get to enjoy the forthcoming epic comeback. Fire Vinny Del Idiot. Preferably before Game 4. Well its quite obvious Rose isn't near as good as we thought, he is just a rookie and Rondo has made him look like it. Boston had KG we would have gotten swept. Rondo is 5 assists and 5 steals shy of a quad double. I'm cheering for that.
Screw Boston, they win everything. I can't wait to see them fall on their faces in round 2. We really should have won game 2. So much for the up and coming Bulls he? Can't beat the C's without KG and Powe. Well, the Celtics are just outclassing the Bulls. Just got to give them credit. Odds on Marbury to come out with this quote after the game...? ''I think I can step up with Rajon and fill in what we are missing with KG..Starbury is back!'' I don't think we will recover from this loss - this is really going to hurt our confidence being a young team. Were bad Someone put in Anthony Roberson and tell him to start a brawl with the Celtics team. Boston plays defense. Bulls don't. Even their 3rd team players are better on D than our starters. I've seen teams suck before, but this is the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked. Can we hire a defensive coach this offseason that will actually teach Rose how to play defense, someone like the guy sitting in the Celtics bench? I don't know what was worse this game. The Bulls defense or the Bulls offense. The Celtics look like they have the Bulls figured out truthfully. Boston is about 17 illegal screens away from playing a perfect game tonight. On a positive note...Vinny has been really good with his time outs tonight...I think we should have atleast a couple left for our late run So how did we let Big Baby get six steals? Reboot the Thibodaue bandwagon. C's defense looks damn dominant again. They're not showing him on camera but I'm positive that KG is doing something INTENSE right now. Absolute complasiveness from the start Please tell me English is not your first language... Eddie House, meet Anthony Roberson. He's like you, only greater.
I have a feeling the next game will almost be worse than this game. I bet we come out and Boston puts up a 40 spot after one and hits lights out from 3 and we'll be down by like 20 something and it'll take the life out of us. HAHA Rondo can't walk!!!!!!!! Brian Scalabrine looks like Michael Rappaport in that celebrity game out there. Next game is crucial. The series is far far from over. Took their best shot in Game 2, huh? I can't believe how ridiculously overconfident some people were But really though, the Celtics just played ridiculously good today. I honestly don't think you will see Rondo and Big baby continually play like the have.. WOW...there are still some Bulls fan out there who believe Rose's awful past 2 games is a result of him being passive/teammates ignoring him. Are these guys blind? How can anyone not see Boston building a wall any time he looks to penetrate? They have ADJUSTED. They are not going to allow Rose to get to the rack in a halfcourt setting. They are packing it in, trapping, building a wall....how CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS? You mean, Boston has coaching? Rondo's body has broken down due to the energy used in whipping our a**. Rondo can't walk. Now there going to start saying how big of a warrior he is for playing in this series almost like Chris Duhon and his badly bruised ribs against the Illini like 6 years ago... I'm sure he'll be fine.. But its good to see him so hurt. Repent. Stop saying bad things about Rondo. He may in fact be the son of God. I'm gonna go ahead and start praying to him just in case. Did rondo just really get carried off the court??? Was that his dwayne wade impersonation from 2 yrs ago? If so, that's funny as all ##$##$%#$ hell! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Maybe a fan took him out with a hammer. This was more about the Bulls blowing it more than it was Boston owning it. C'mon and come back to non-Bulls fan reality. We got socked in the mouth and didn't hit back. We got owned. It's shocking how one game can change our perception. Before Game 3, the Bulls were playing toe to toe with the Celtics, made their home field advantage null, basically had them on the ropes. With this loss, people will realize that the Celtics should really be up 3-0. We got lucky in winning Game 1. Even if the Bulls win on Sunday, they would need to win in Boston again, if they want to close out the series in Chicago. If this goes to 7 games, I can't see the Bulls winning in Boston.
Boston is a flat out better team than we are, even without Powe and Garnett and it's time for people to realize that. We have potential, there is no doubt about that. But there is a difference between talent and potential.
I think with a healthy Garnett they are still the best in the East. I have been very impressed with this team without KG so far. Most of that is due to Davis and Rondo. They have both taken even a bigger step this season. Rondo looks terrific. I know the Cavs are good but I just don't buy a team with LeBron and "the supporting cast". I know Mo Williams is good and they play good defense. But I would still take KG/Ray Allen/Pierce/Rondo/Perkins/Davis/House over them at this point. I have been really impressed with Davis and Rondo..wow. We were thoroughly out coached in this game.... In every facet. We need to shut Rondo down or at worst bring him down to Earth. People are calling him a Superstar now if that isn't absolutely ridiculous.
it's kinda sad that Glen Davis (who was a 2nd rounder) is more consistent then his former LSU teammate who was picked #4 overall. I think Garnett helped Davis a ton, but he has been stellar in this series thus far. I will say it again, if Garnett was healthy and the improvements of Davis/Rondo and House the Celtics are the best team in the NBA. The thing for me is, we havent had a break yet. I feel that the Celtics are playing wayyyy above themselves right now as in their role players (rondo and bigbaby). And I am really waiting for that first crack in the armor. Maybe they're just damn good (Rondo) and a lot better (Fat Baby) than the avg. Bulls fan thinks?
The Celtics are slowly but surely breaking down in front of us and I think are running on fumes and guts. We just need something to push us over the top and capitalize on their lack of players. Well, at least the Bulls didn't set a team record for futility like the Spurs just did (67 points - new franchise playoff low)

Flash Lose in OT Despite Double Double from Giddens
by FLCeltsFan 11:45 AM
The Flash went down 0-1 in the first game of the best of 3 D-League Finals. Playing at home, they forced overtime but couldn't finish as the Colorado 14ers took the 136-131 OT win.
The Flash got off to a slow start and trailed 60-35 midway through the second quarter and by 19 points early in the third. But they rallied, tied the game at 122-122 and could have won in regulation, but Kevin Kruger missed an 18-footer at the buzzer.
The Flash started the overtime session strong and seemed in control when they went up 126-123 on J.R. Giddens' second-effort layup. But with the game on the line, and pressure mounting from the Colorado defense, nothing could go right for Utah as Colorado finished on an 8-3 run.
In the final 30 seconds of the game, the Flash turned the ball over twice on two steals by the 14ers Billy Thomas and the 14ers scored off the steals and got the win.
JR Giddens had the only double double of the game with 21 points on 9-16 shooting to go with 17 rebounds, 1 steal, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. The fact that a shooting guard led both teams in blocks speaks a lot to Giddens' leaping and athletic ability.
The Flash travel to Colorado for Game 2 Friday and Game 3 Monday if necessary. You can watch the games live on NBA Futurecast.

Random Thoughts Before Game 3
Wednesday, April 22, 2009
by FLCeltsFan 9:45 PM
Larry Johnson Cartoon courtesy of WEEI
I have really been upset about Leon Powe's injury. This kid is one of the good guys. He works so hard and is just such a nice guy off the court and such a tough competitor on the court that this injury just doesn't seem fair.
Just how tough is this kid? He played 3 minutes after he tore his ACL. Every other player I have ever seen tear an ACL is writhing on the floor in pain. Yet, Leon continued to play. It says so much about Leon and his toughness and who he is. I really hope that the Celtics will offer him a contract in spite of the injury. He has fought through injury and adverse circumstances his whole life and he isn't going to stop now. He will be back. I just hope the Celtics realize what a special person he is and that he will be back in a Celtics uniform.
Good news that Scal will be back. I don't know how effective he will be after being out so long, but at this point, anything he can give will be welcome! Scal was having his best season as a Celtic before the injuries and hopefully he can get back to playing well again. Scal will be wearing a special headband to protect his head against another hard hit which is a good thing. We will need Perk, Big Baby, Mikki and Scal to all step up their game and stay out of foul trouble. I love that Scal is back and he felt good after a full practice, but if I had to choose between having Leon or Scal, I would take Leon. If Scal is hitting his outside shot, he can draw their bigs out and open up the middle somewhat. I have a feeling they are going to give him his shot and hopefully he will hit them.
If there was any doubt that David Stern and his minions want the Cavs in the Finals, it was erased in last night's Cavs - Pistons game. Have you looked at the free throw disparity in that game? The Cavs shot 43 free throws and the Pistons shot just 16 free throws. And it wasn't that the Pistons where going to the basket. That is one of the worst one sided officiating jobs I have ever seen. Terrible. How can any team beat the Cavs 3 with the refs giving them that kind of help. The Pistons could file a grievance against the refs, but since the directive comes down from the league office to call the game that way, they don't have much of a chance of winning it. We know that the Cavs and Lakers are going to get special treatment from the refs and anyone standing in their way are going to have to play the opponents and the refs as well. 43-16.... that is plain out ridiculous.
Rondo is such a tough kid. He has sprained his ankles more times than I can count this season and yet he is right back in there playing. He reminds me of those weebles toys... "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down." After another sprain in the last game, that he played through in the second half, he was supposed to sit out the two practices on the off days. He did sit out one, but yesterday, was right back out on the floor pushing the ball as hard as ever. But you have to wonder how many sprains this kid can come back from before he does some serious damage to the ankle.
I was watching the Denver game last night. The Birdman is pretty impressive. He brings a lot of energy to the game. I wonder why Danny didn't sign this guy when he had a chance to. Maybe he would have thought that Birdman's intensity and Garnett's intensity might clash. I think he would have given this team a boost. Certainly more than O'Bryant did. Detroit should be kicking themselves for trading Billups.
Predictions for tonight: Tonight I expect the Celtics to clamp down on defense and for Pierce to wake up and have a big game. The Bulls are feeling pretty good about themselves but yet, the Celtics haven't played well in either game. If the Celtics can put it together and start playing Celtics basketball (read that: DEFENSE) then I think they get the win in this game. Pierce hasn't been a factor and if he can get back on track, which I think he will, the Celtics will be a completely different team. I don't have much faith in the Celtics winning a Sunday afternoon game. But they can get tonight's game if they play Celtics' basketball.

Comments from the Other Side - Bulls - Game 2
by FLCeltsFan 10:15 AM
These comments are definitely more fun to gather when we win. It is still amazing to me that both sides swear that the refs called it completely one sided. I guess we only notice when the calls go against us. In spite of the Bulls shooting 4 more free throws and the Celtics being called for 3 more fouls, the Bulls' fans insist that the game was given to the Celtics by the refs. Enjoy this edition of Comments from the Other Side!
While I don't like Rondo and I think hes overrated. Very overrated at that but I'm hoping this will become a nice PG rivalry for the next decade. Like the D-Will - Paul rivalry of the East! I am hoping Ray Allen will continue to struggle in the playoffs. He had a couple of open looks cause of the doubles we had on Pierce but he missed them, if he continues to miss I like our chances. I'm afraid that if Boston starts to get in trouble early, they'll turn dirty. Boston leads the NBA in technical fouls, so hopefully they will indeed get frustrated but the Bulls will keep their composure. By catching Boston in an angry mood, the Bulls may have to take some hard fouls but it will be worth it in the end if they don't stoop down to Boston's level. I sure hope they keep it clean. I hate Boston sports enough as is, if they hurt our guys, especially Rose...I might just take a trip to Boston and punch anyone wearing green I just don't want to see this turn into a Celtics blowout and then they regain their confidence. Crush them now! So I noticed something after watching several highlights of game 1... Boston gave up on multiple plays. Hopefully for the Bulls they continue to give up on plays with KG out of the series! They definitely did not play like the defending champs I don't think they gave up... KG is the quarterback of that defense and they miss him on the floor. Plain and Simple. He IS their identity.
I expect the Bulls to lose tonight. Boston has had 2 days to sit and listen to the media and everyone else talk about the great job Derrick Rose did on them and that should have them fired up. So tonight their sole mission will be to shut him down.
I found this Leon Powe quote quite interesting: "We didn't realize what they do at first," said Powe. "Some people crash the glass. But some people, when they contest the shot, they take off and keep going. They don't go for the rebound. They go for the other end. I noticed that when I went to crash and I noticed my man was way down the other way. I had to start thinking of whether to crash or stay with my man. We have to come up with something for that." Little does Leon Powe know that that isn't strategy, just our team's allergy to boxing out.
Bulls by 5...
I predicted a sweep in the beginning and I'm sticking to it
This game will be solely on the shoulders of miller, salmons, and Gordon. Boston will NOT allow rose to beat them again, and will leave guys open in doing so. Doc and thibodeau will tell their players to trap rose every chance they get.
I think a lot of people are really overexaggerating how bad the refs were in game one, sure they made some boneheaded calls, but most of them were corrected by either another bad call which got the team that was originally wronged the ball back, usually on the following possession, or by the original call being reversed(salmons travel).
But, what about when Noah got decked? NO FLAGRANT? "just a hard playoff foul" - B.S.! Then you breathe on Pierce, and FOUL!
This next game, I think, is going to be the hardest of the series. Boston got embarrassed on their home floor and I could tell by their post game interviews that they felt like they blew it against an inferior team. I expect them to come out and really look for blood. You can't lose your first two playoff games at home as defending champs.
Guys, let's win the next 7 so that we're well rested for Cleveland
Philly just upset Orlando in Game 1. How about a Bulls/76ers 2nd round? Not going to happen but it's awesome that the two favorites were defeated on their home floor.
PP had 23 but if ray was anywhere near decent we may have lost. I just hope they had bad nights because of our D and not because they were cold in general.
As bad as Pierce and Allen played............. Kirk, Miller, Salmons played just as bad and Gordon wasn't up to what he usually does as far with his shooting % so if I was Boston I would be someone nervous that the Bulls bad was better than the Celtics bad
People have mentioned Paul Pierce's quote about how the Celtics didn't play "good", yet they still almost beat us. Well, it's not like it took a perfect game from us to beat them. Quite on the contrary, I actually think we played one of our worst team games of the year (with the exception of Rose, Noah, and maybe Tyrus).
I won't be surprised one bit if we SWEPT them.
I still think the Celtics pull this out, mainly because of Pierce. They'll make it to the ECF and lose badly to the Cavs, Imo.
Don't let our guards down. KG will probably make a dramatic entrance in this game.
Game 2 is the most CRUCIAL game of this season. Lose it and we're toast. The Bulls need to treat this game as the 'Game 7' of this series. Boston will throw everything including KG in it to try to win this game. Boston is dazed but ain't on the ropes.
If KG proved ANYTHING, it's that he's a warrior for HIMSELF and not his teammates. He abandoned them when they needed his support, not to mention he could help out their bigs by watching and giving advice. If I were a Boston fan, I would be so upset that the "Big Ticket" is actually "Big Baby." KG is not coming back. At his age with his miles, I'm not sure he'll ever fully come back and there is serious drama in Beantown.
I expect brutal and unrelenting foul trouble all game long for the Bulls. You thought it was bad when Pierce chucked the ball out of bound and got it back, and they called a 3 second call on Noah with 90 seconds left the possession immediately following one where Perkins was in the lane for at least 6? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
Now hold on a second. This is an evenly matched series. The only thing the first game did is confirm that. This series is going to be a war.
I think us Bulls fans have to brace ourselves here. Boston, at home, highly motivated not to go down 2-0, will probably rock us early. I think we'll give it a go, but end up losing.
Rondo is known to be a defensive player and Rose isn't, yet Rose scorches him for 36 points. But Barkley talks about Rose giving up 29 points to Rondo.
Let's get some athletic intimidation going here in the paint. Boston does not have the athletes we have inside.
Perkins is a surprisingly ok offensive player. I know he's been ok for a while, but after seeing him play in his first few seasons, "ok" would have been a monumental improvement.
Paul Pierce, 2 fouls in that possession, not called. Refs suck again tonight.
The Celts are murdering us in transition, this shouldn't be happening, we're the quicker team
Wow. Boston has a 15-2 rebounding advantage and we're only down seven?
Well Big Baby started thinking he was Steve Kerr and they just paid for it. Good riddance.
Boston stinks when they slow down their game. If we rebound more the ball more we can be on the run where we succeed.
How are we even still in this game?
Well Boston expended all that energy and they only have a 2 point lead.
Celtics don't scare nobody! Haha
Color me impressed. I knew that the Celtics stretch of lucky rebounds would end. And once it did the bulls got back in the game.
Rondo comes in and BANG (that's my Emeril impression) they go on a run.
No Perk means attack
Rondo is down...never wanna see that
You don't want this series enough son!
I hate how sports make me want someone injured
GET THE WHEELCHAIR OUT A CELTICS PLAYER IS DOWN
Somebody give Rondo an Oscar, he's not hurt, he's just acting because he's mad he didn't get the call. Remember last year with Paul Pierce, give me a break Celtics, have some professionalism.
Rondo is going to attempt a Pierce-like game tonight.
Can't complain about the refs now
LOL! Rondo is as fine as all of you guys are sitting in your chairs in front of your laptops. These Celtics just like being melodramatic.
The Celtics are running out of mediocre big men
Does it make me a bad person to want rondo to be injured? Not badly mind you, just enough so he can't come back tonight.
If I were a Celtic fan, I'd be down right annoyed - well pissed. Bulls have shot 20 free throws, to Bostons 10 on their home court.
I understand what you're saying, but Boston isn't getting many cheap calls. They're down right earning them with playoff intensity fouls.
Rondo is acting, its kind of annoying. I'm not hoping injury on the kid but if he pulled a soccer like injury, that's just annoying about Boston because they did it last year
Stephon Marbury... What a classless joke of an NBA player. I can't believe Boston signed him.
Wow...Collins said he thinks the Bulls are the better team!!!!!!!!
I think he said he thinks that the bulls think they're the better team
Celtics are very different without Rondo
I see us taking this game, C's are close to collapsing
Refs have totally kept the Celtics in this game!
Rondo will probably be back, but he'd also probably lose a step or two, That should help us on the defensive end
Doc is an idiot for not playing Rondo every minute he can. Scrubs like Marbury and Moore should never get a sniff of the court.
Glen Big Baby Davis making 15some points is ridiculous.
I feel really bad that I hope Rondo's leg falls off.
Rondo is noticeably limping.
Can you please someone explains my why Noah get's technical foul??????????????
Not sure, apparently walking is a technical for the Bulls. Taunting and screaming is not for the Celtics.
Rondo has a triple double..that kid really is something else
If we don't win this game we are in trouble. Allen is starting to find his stroke.
I hate everything Boston, it's been decided. I still like Ray Allen though, but he's more Coney island.
Awesome... Perkins pushes Noah... Flat pushes him. Foul on Noah
All the calls we were getting in the second quarter? The refs just even'd it out in the third.
It's not even like it's 5 on 8. It's like there are 10 refs and it's 5 on 15.
Rondo is moving way worse than pre-injury to me
Boston builds a wall up front against great slashers. It's not easy even for superstars. And Rose isn't even a star.
Davis is on automatic
I don't know why Davis is making shots. Probably should guard him though.
I don't get it. Davis is fat, he shouldn't be able to shoot.
Ben Gordon>Ray Allen
Perkins is KILLING us.
The offensive rebounds are downfall if we don't pull this out. Some are just bad luck, but a lot are just Perkins and Baby muscling us to death.
Tyrus doesn't match up well with their fat front court
I can't believe how much Glen Davis and Kendrick Perkins can do to us. Are they really that good?
Rondo is deadly today.
Unbelievable. Rajon Rondo **** hits a luck shot.. Give me a break!
Win or lose, Rondo was a stud
Farragut h.s. Or not, its getting very very old the camera focuses on kg. Dude has no class! he's not a true rep of Chicago!
Not sure how many more times I can take a close up of garnett cursing. He's getting more camera time than most of the bulls
50 rebounds to 36. Game story. **** worthless big men.
Boston has had lady luck on their side.
Lucky win.
Well they won't win anything in Chicago.
If we could rebound the ball we would have destroyed these arrogant bastards.
And there is no way a scrub like Perkins should be owning us.
Unless the Celtics get away with everything the refs let them get away with, Chicago has this series in 6, if not 5.
I hate Ray Allen. **** Ben Gordon owned him all night and that idiot hits a contested 3 for the win. All I have to say is a lucky win for Boston. They better like getting destroyed in Chicago. OVERRATED!
So I guess Perkins kinda....ya know made everything he said in that interview happen huh ?
Well the refs were very good at disguising their preference in this game. Let Boston push off inside all night long. Get both Bulls PGs in foul trouble in the first quarter. Never don't call a touch foul on whoever is close to Rondo. Still the Celts barely eek out a win. Not very impressive IMO.
What is with Garnett sticking his chin out with that little crap eating grin? What a punk, I hope is knee is screwed for good. I hate him.
The way the Celtics celebrated, you would think the series is over. Seriously, that town is trash and so is that organization.
All of a sudden I don't feel good about this series, that kind of loss can take a lot out of a team, especially a young one like ours..
Boston is perfectly capable of winning games on the road. Bulls blew a huge opportunity tonight. Rondo was gimpy, yet he STILL outplayed Rose by a mile.
Davis and Perkins dominated the Bulls big men. Chicago doesn't seem to know how to play physical inside. You can't expect to win games when you give up 21 offensive rebounds. That's insane. Boston also had 50 points in the paint -- which is about 10 too many.
The two days of rest will be BIG for the Celtics. That sucks for us

Giddens Leads Flash into Finals
by FLCeltsFan 9:04 AM
Celtics Rookie JR Giddens scored a game high 25 points on 12-17 shooting to go with 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block to lead the Utah Flash over the Dakota Wizards. The win was the first ever over the Wizards in franchise history. The win also puts the Flash into the D-League finals against the Colorado 14ers.
Video Courtesy of KSL.com The Flash took a 4 point lead into halftime and it was in the 3rd quarter that Giddens went to to work, scoring 12 of his 25 points in the 3rd quarter. His layup with 8:06 left in the third, extended the Flash lead to 10 points. Giddens also came up big on the defensive end, holding the Wizards' leading scorer to just 1-6 shooting after halftime.
"I think J.R. was a big key both on the defensive end and the offensive end, obviously when he got that stretch going when he kind of got on fire," Flash coach Brad Jones said. "Yeah, he was terrific tonight." The Flash will now take on the Colorado 14ers in the best of 3 Finals beginning on Wednesday, April 22, at the McKay Events Center in Orem, Utah. Tipoff is set for 9:00 p.m. ET
The Southwest Division champions, the 14ers advanced to the Finals with a 114-111 victory over the Austin Toros in the semi-finals on Saturday, April 18. The Flash, the West Division champions, earned their Finals berth by defeating the Dakota Wizards 103-93 tonight in the second semi-final in Orem. The Flash last played the 14ers in a rare double header. If you remember, it was an error around the Celtics 2 rookies that the Flash protested and won that set up the double header. They played the final 25.2 seconds of that earlier game which the 14ers originally won after Bill Walker was erroneously given his 6th foul. The Flash won both games that night.
The Finals schedule is as follows: Game 1: Colorado 14ers @ Utah Flash - Wednesday, April 22, 9:00 p.m. ET Game 2: Utah Flash @ Colorado 14ers - Friday, April 24, 9:00 p.m. ET Game 3: Utah Flash @ Colorado 14ers - Monday, April 27, 9:00 p.m. ET (if necessary) As always, you can watch the Flash games on NBA Futurecast.
