Once again, the Celtics faded at the end of a game. KG played very strong in the beginning of the game but like the Celtics, faded at the end. He finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. In his post game interview, he said that the Celtics have to get their defensive swagger back. I think he hit the nail on the head. The Rockets shot 49% while the Celtics shot just 43%. The Celtics have forgotten how to play that lock down defense that became their calling card last season. They are especially lax on defense at the end of games.
Paul Pierce continues to play well consistently, although he missed several wide open shots in the 3rd and 4th quarters. He finished with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.
Rondo is struggling. He finished this game with 5 points, no rebounds, and 5 assists but just seems to be missing that spark he had during the win streak. He allowed the Houston guards to get past him on defense and just wasn't aggressive on offense. Teams are taking a cue from the Lakers and defending Rondo and it has affected him. We need him to get back on track because when he plays aggressively, he makes the Celtics very hard to beat.
Ray needs some rest. His legs obviously aren't under his jumper. He has shot 11-51 in his last 3 games. He played almost 50 minutes last night and almost 40 minutes tonight. That is too much. Doc has got to get this guy some rest so that he can get his legs back under him. He is playing well other than his shot, though. He finished this game with 13 points on 4-13 shooting to go with 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.
Big Baby had a nice game with 12 points and 2 rebounds in 22 minutes and he added a lot of hustle off the bench as well.
Gabe Pruitt got some meaningful minutes and played great defense along with scoring 7 points and grabbing 1 rebound in 15 minutes. It is good to see him getting a chance to play. Eddie continues to struggle hitting just 1 of 5 shots for 2 points with 1 rebound and 1 steal.
Ron Artest spent most of his time throwing elbows and putting wrestling moves on various Celtics. He also spent some time grabbing refs after they called fouls on him. Ron is a dirty player and was glad to see him foul out of the game. At one point he body slammed Ray Allen and hit him with an elbow to the head to boot and the refs called a double foul.
Perk had a quiet game. He took just one shot and didn't score but played good defense and finished with 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks.
Scal played just 3 minutes but left the game counting his teeth after a hard collision with Ron Artest, who didn't seem to be at all phased by having Scal's teeth stuck into his head.
Leon scored only 2 points, but as always brought energy and effort off the bench as he grabbed 7 rebounds and blocked 1 shot in 16 minutes.
The Celtics have now lost 3 in a row and 6 of their last 8 games. They scored only 11 points in the 3rd quarter of this game and have allowed teams to come at them and finish off games during this losing streak which is something they haven't allowed since they started last season. Let's hope they are tired of losing and are ready to get their fire back because they have a very big game on Friday against the first place Cavs. The Cavs are now half a game in front of the Celtics and are 18-0 at home. You better believe that they will be ready for this game. Let's hope the Celtics are too.
Bill Walker scored a team high 26 points as the Flash beat the Arsenal in their opening game of the D-League Showcase being held in Orem. Five Flash players scored in double figures including Walker and fellow Celtics' assignee J.R. Giddens who scored 16 points and Kyrylo Fesenko, a Jazz assignee, who scored 12.
Walker filled up the box score with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals while Giddens finished with 16 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal. It was also reported that Walker hit his head on the backboard as he was going up to block a shot. Think the Celtics could use that kind of energy off the bench right about now?
The Flash controlled the tempo for most of the game in the 109-100 win in front of their home town. Danny Ainge and GM's and scouts from many NBA teams are there checking out the action and scouting players.
Utah (7-8) will return to action in the Showcase on Thursday against the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
It's always funny how the fans of other teams start out talking about how they have no hope and their team has to play the perfect game to win and then by the end they are talking about how overrated the Celtics are. The Celtics have been playing poorly and the other teams have been playing their best game of the century against the Celtics but yet for that one game, their team is the best in the world. Too bad they only play like that one game a season.
Basicly everyone needs to play good to great for us to have a chance...
Lookin good so far......I doin't expect to get ANY help from the refs this game though
looks like Wallace is gong to be able to do almost wut he pleases against pierce.
You know, I think Garnett may be one of the most over hyped players in this league. I mean the guy has always been a solid player but if you lok at it he has never really been able to do anything until he got with 3 other superstars. Just watchin him now garnett just doesn't scare me anywhere close to as much as Allen and piece do.
KG was my favourite NBA player. Now he is no class. I would love us to upset them.
Key Bench Player is Adam Morrison.
You know, that guy picked 3rd in the 06 draft. Capital "A" d-a-m, Morrison.
Adam Morrison is the key? Playing the Celtics puts me in a bit of a bad mood but hearing Morrison being brought up is even worse.
Rondo and Ray have been off lately, double Pierce and KG and make them beat us.
Well, Boston has had some problems lately. Either they correct those mistakes and get mad and take it out on us and beat us by 30, or we take advantage of the situation and pull off an upset.
No Raja tonight?, Hope Ray Allen has a off night. Better start my Voodoo now
13 trips to the foul line in the first, keep that up and this one's done.
I'm glad Leon Powe has made it. I liked him coming out of cal but was terrified of his knees. Great bench player, but I'm sure if we got him he would've developed a weight problem and extended minutes would've cashed those knees with a quickness.
So far the difference is the FT line for us. Boston is 5 of 11 while we are 14 of 16. As we have traditionally had a weakness at the FT line, that is a very nice stat to see.
I really hate Garnett's attitude
That was a terrible, terrible foul by Howard on Davis. No need for a hit like that.
Is Rondo European? Man he flops.
Is it me or does Rajon Rondo have weird looking shoulders?
I haven't had the chance to experience the famed homerism of the Boston announcers before, but now I see what everyone is talking about.
You think they're bad now you should have seen them when that old guy with the HEAVY Boston accent commentated. I have never seen such a homer as that guy was.
It would be nice to see them play this tough every night. If they did, we would have a winning record.
Refs have been REALLY bad tonight -for both teams.
I just think its hilarious how often Boston is going to the line.
Man we sure did get the Celtics at a good time. We always play them hard so maybe this was bound to happen anyway.
I only wish the Celtics weren't in a slump then this win would mean a lot more.
Wow, Celtics 2-5 in last 7 games. What has happened to them?
They are falling apart. Guess they should blow that team apart and start rebuilding. Maybe they could send a player or two our way.
We'll be on Sports Center tonight!!!!
C ya later Big three!
Rename them Big three LOSERS...
Teams have figured out how to control the tempo of the game and the Celtics bench is starting to look almost as shallow as our Bobcats bench has looked. The Celtics had better hope they can get Stephon Marbury or at least some kind of true backup pg. Eddie House is not that person. He is way too slow and does not shoot consistently.
Rondo is struggling. He did ok scoring with 16 points. He had 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. But, he also had 9 turnovers. That is not very Rondo-like. That tells me that he is tired. And, playing 46 minutes in the first of back to back games isn't going to help.
Pierce has been the most consistent of the starters and that continued in this game. He finished with 28 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block in 37 minutes. He also hit the shot that sent the game into overtime. They started off strong in OT but faded quickly and just couldn't keep up allowing the more energetic Bobcats to pull out the 114-106 win.
Doc played Big Baby 18 minutes and Leon 9 minutes. Leon finished with 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steal while Big Baby finished with 3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block. He also got floored by a flagrant foul and ended up taking the free throws with cotton up his nose to stop some bleeding.
Ray is tired. He shot just 7-20 and 3-11 from beyond the arc. He just doesn't have his legs under his jumper. He finished with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in over 48 minutes. This is after Doc said that we would be seeing more of Gabe (6 minutes, 3 points) and Scal (3 minutes, nothing). We are losing anyway. Why not let the bench play more and at least give the starters some rest while we are losing.
KG is tired. KG is hurting. KG had just 14 points, to go with 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block in 41 minutes. He is slow to get back on defense and obviously needs a rest.
Perk finished with 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 block in 36 minutes. He seems to be playing well and especially at the start of the OT session, he played with energy.
Tony Allen will miss tonight's game vs the Charlotte Hornets. According to the Globe Tony injured his ankle in the game against the Knicks on Sunday. He may also miss the game on Wednesday vs the Rockets. Also mentioned is the fact that Doc plans to use both Gabe and Scal more regardless of Tony's status. I am not so sure about more more Scal, although he was one of the few who showed some effort in the Knicks game, but I am excited to see more Gabe.
We are starting to see a rush of players released as players still on rosters by Friday are guaranteed for the rest of the season. Clippers waived Fred Jones and Paul Davis yesterday and today we get the news that the Bucks have waived Austin Croshere. This is interesting. Croshere is 6'10" and would fill the need for a veteran with size off the bench. Teams could possibly claim him and the remaining $797,581 of his contract off waivers.
When asked if the Celtics are interested, Fegan said: "I hope they are. That's one of my first calls today. He makes a lot of sense for them. (Celtics president) Danny Ainge always told me he likes him."
All we gotta do is keep a man infront of Rondo and he'll be slowed down
Do ya kno that "He got Game" was referenced to marbury but since he couldn't act, they got ray Allen as a replacement
Praying I'm wrong, but I like 112-88 Celts, 4 blown layups for Jeffries, D'Antoni getting T'd up and Tim Thomas having a very sore toe but taking comfort in the fact that Glen Davis tells him its ok to cry sometimes
I'm hoping for a knicks victory, the Celtics have been losing lately, but so have the knicks, the Celtics are a beatable team, but for some reason the Celtics always play an amazing game when they face the knicks.
Knicks shock everyone and somehow pull out a win.
So do you guys think we'll lose by less than 10.5 points?
Knicks win by 20 or 30
Miami will be happy after this one, the Knicks will shatter their record for worst loss in NBA history tonight.
I hope the Celtics lose this game, I mean.. .no way we can win on our own
keys to the loss - They are the Celtics And we are the knicks
Rondo hit a three.. Damn, that comet must be headed for earth!!
Will we see Big Baby cry tonight? I hope so.
What the hell with some of these fans cheering everytime the Celts make a damn basket
I can't believe so many people cheer for the Celts at the Garden.. Sickening
Harrington, JJ2, and Curry are in an elite class of players who lose the ball so easily.
Did duhon just outjump Tony Allen?
The fact that this game is this close is amazing It’s a shame Q-Rich is playing so poorly, he really hates the Celtics.
How is it that we keep losing house.. That bum is on the floor and in this league for one reason only... One reason!!!!!!!!
Boston reaches more than any team and no foul calls.. They reach every time down.. Every time..
Garnett's arms must be like 100f long. How did he get that shot?
So garnett has two fouls and the refs are going to be damned to call foul 3.. They might as well let him bring a bat out onto the court and just do the hack job right!!!!
The Celtics = Dwayne Wade status to the refs.
Is it just me, or do the Celtics get A LOT of help from the refs?
How many times a game does Garnett drop the F bomb?
This game just reaffirms my disbelief in the integrity of the NBA. The refs are so Cetlics biased its ridiculous....And WE'RE THE HOME TEAM!
Pierce will get any call he wants...
A good head faker in pierce vs. A guy who bites head fakers in Richardson is the worst matchup ever!
I'm getting sick of these Celtics
I used to like KG, now I just want to punch him in the mouth
How is that not taunting on kg ?
I don't like fake tough guys...Celtics have about 5 of em!
KG is a punk. I used to like him now that he is a Celtic I can't stand him
Rondo is a joke..
If Rondo is an all-star, I should be on the Olympic team
Chandler OWNS Garnett on both sides of the floor.
Kendrick Perkins got a big face.
I have always thought Rondo was a scrub. I have not been fooled by him for one second of his career. I love how people always ignore who someone like him is playing with. Anyone on this board would average 4+ assists if we played for the Celtics. I know for a fact I can shoot better.
Scalabrine owns us.
Wtf happened to our Knick team? I was so set on us tanking, but I don't know what to think now.
Scalabrine is a bum
Why aren’t they playing Powe? Idiots…
Please beat Celtics! Can't stand KG and the Cs THIS YEAR. Winning has went to Kg's head
Celtics playing like chumps tonight! Gotta love Clyde!
Who the hell is applauding Pierce in MSG??
If we keep leaving scalabrine open, I'm gonna have a heart attack
Celtics bench= 22 points Al Harrington = 30 points Did I say the Celtics’ bench is thin?
WHOAA, the nicks playing great defense and executing well offensifely in crunch-time against Boston, didn't know that this was possible!
HAHAHAHAHA Doc is waving the white flag. Nice game, Celtics.
Dig this....The top 3 teams in the East all fall to sub .500 teams today, and The Pistons nearly lost to the Clippers Great game and great effort tonight All that being said, I still want ping pong balls.
Paul Pierce was the only Celtic who seemed to have a pulse in this one. Rondo played timidly and settled for jumpers rather than being aggressive and going to the hoop. KG, Perk and Ray were a step slow on both ends. The bench was ok at best. Paul Pierce with 31 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal in 41 minutes had a nice game, but since he was the only Celtic who had a nice game, picking him for player of the game was a no-brainer.
This was a low point for the Celtics. I am still trying to figure out how this team could win 19 in a row and be so dominant to start the season and now lose 4 of their last 6 games and so completely forget how to play defense and team basketball so as to let the Knicks look like a playoff team. I just don't get it. Wilson Chandler had 31 points. Al Harrington had 30 points. Where did the Celtics defense go?
KG has been mentioning how his leg hurts lately and tonight left the game limping. It makes me wonder. He played 29 minutes and finished with just 6 points to go with 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 5 blocks. He certainly didn't look like the defensive player of the year as he allowed Wilson Chandler to go all around him for 31 points.
Paul Pierce was the only starter who seemed to have a pulse in this one. He finished with 31 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal but had to play 41 minutes to get them.
Ray Allen finished with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in 37 minutes, but was 0-9 from beyond the arc. Perk was a step slow on defense all game and finished with 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block in 29 minutes.
Rondo was fairly passive in this game and settled for jumpers instead of taking the ball to the hoop. He was 1-7 from the field and finished with 3 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal in 25 minutes.
Scal played 12 minutes in this one but no one else was stepping up so why not? He finished with 4 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block and did play some defense. The bench as a whole was not very impressive. Tony continued is inconsistent play with 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist in 15 minutes. Eddie had 5 points on 2-6 shooting along with 5 rebounds and 1 assist in 23 minutes. Gabe and O'Bryant played the last 1:36 after Doc had thrown in the towel and weren't a factor.
Leon as always played hard and finished with 5 points and 6 rebounds in his 12 minutes. Big Baby finished with 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assist in 11 minutes.
The hardest part about watching this game was watching the Knicks out-hustle the Celtics on both ends of the court. The Celtics were out-rebounded 46-45 and rebounding numbers usually show the effort a team puts out. The Knicks played great defense and the Celtics seemed to have forgotten how to play defense. I really hope the Celtics figure out how to get back on track because watching efforts like tonight isn't fun at all. There is no way the Knicks, playing just 7 players should have beaten the Celtics. The Cavs lost tonight and the Celtics had the chance to put some space between them and they didn't take advantage. Maybe they are tired. Maybe they are hurting. Whatever the problem, hopefully they will figure it out and get back on the winning track soon. It's not going to get any easier.
First of all, rumors are swirling aplenty. Of course there are the Marbury rumors. He has talent, there is no doubt about it. But, would he fit with ubuntu. My thoughts are that he wants a bigger role than the Celtics are willing to give him. He has never been willing to take a back seat for the good of the team and I am not sure he will be able to now. I am reading On and Off the Court by Red Auerbach and in that book, he constantly talks about how the Celtics were always special because of the class their players showed on and off the court. It wasn't long ago that Marbury was making headlines for taking MSG employees out to his truck for sex. Not exactly the kind of player that Red would have gone after. Marbury and House have had a running feud and KG and Marbury didn't part on good terms. The Celtics have great chemistry and it would be a real shame to mess it up. But, I have to believe that if Danny makes him an offer he will get into his head and make understand what is expected of him.
Also in the rumor mill is the fact that Robert Horry is open to coming to Boston too. Now, Horry I can see here. Big Shot Bob would go a long way to replacing what Posey brought to the team. And I am sure that he still has a finger open for another ring. And, he would give us some length off the bench, which is something this team needs more than a back up point/shooting guard.
Other rumors have been going around about Joe Smith who may or may not be bought out by Oklahoma. Smith would be a good fit for the Celtics but if he is bought out, there will be quite a few teams vying for his services including the Cavs, which may very well be his first choice. Speaking of the Cavs, they are the team that worries me most. They are playing very good basketball and will be tough to get past. The Celtics are just a game ahead of them right now and they have been coming on strong. Ilgauskas could be out for awhile with a bone chip in his ankle and maybe that will allow the Celtics to open up a little breathing room between the two teams. It is also scary that the Cavs have Wally's expiring contract that could bring them in an even better player at the trade deadline.
The Flash are hosting a showcase this week and you can watch the games for free online by going to this site. JR Giddens and Bill Walker have been playing very well for the Flash and this would be a good time to see how they are doing for yourself. You can watch some of the past game from the archives located here. And, the schedule for the Showcase can be found here.
The Grizzlies' Sunday game against the Mavs is the first game that Darius Miles will be eligible to play in. Let's hope that he plays and then plays in 9 more. I don't like the way the Blazers have handled this and I believe that they deserve to be on the hook for his salary.
There has been a lot of KG hate around the league. It is safe to say if their team had him, it would be a completely different story but I have read many comments lately by fans who say that they used to like KG but now he is a punk and they can't stand him. He is still the same player he has always been but yet, because he is on the Celtics and they are winning, they have decided that he is a punk. In case you missed this on ABC, here is a very great piece on KG very well worth watching.
You really have to give Perk credit for controlling his emotions out on the court recently. After picking up 9 technical fouls in about the first 15 games, he hasn't picked one up since. He said he was going to do something about the technicals and he has. I love Perk! And, Perkisabeast has a great story about little Kendrick who is making a splash in modeling. Kudos to both Big Perk and Little Perk.
Other than a couple of brave souls, most Wizards' fans realized that there was no hope for this game after the Celtics' west coast trip. There were some complaints about the refs and when Tommy says he likes the refs, you know they are calling everything for the Celtics. It seems that for every team the death knell for them is seeing Scalabrine in the second quarter... that signals the fact that their team is terrible.
Our soft frontline is going to get abused by the C's. I expect Perkins to make Andray look pretty bad.
Wow, I am still in denial that u guys beat us. Anyway, good luck against Boston. Please beat them, please........ (from a Rockets' fan)
I'm feeling an upset!!!
Stop Rondo's penetration. Don't let him set everything up or get easy buckets at the rim. No doubling on Garnett...he's going to get his in the paint. Focus on locking down the outside shooting. Match DMac on Pierce. I really want to see if DMac's athleticism and length can slow him down. Caron start at the 2, and body up Ray Allen. See if a little physicality can get his show off rythem. Pop Perkins head as that little balloon just doesn't fit on his shoulders. Share the ball as we are going to need everyone to contribute offensively. Oh yea....and don't get beat by 34 points!!!!
I really don't like Boston. It will make my day if we can beat them. We had their number last year, don't think the same this year
Scalabrine in the first quarter? Ouch.
We suck so bad that doc rivers put scabs in to play in the first quarter.
They have fake fan noise running in the arena, most pathetic thing I have ever heard of for an NBA team
How is Boston not incredibly embarrassed to be pumping in artificial crowd noise? They're the reigning champions, arguably the most storied franchise in league history - act like it!
LOL!!! The Celts are giving their back-ups some practice tonight against our D-league type play. Why bother winding your starters when you can beat the Wiz with your back-ups.
OMG....they've more than doubled our score.javascript:void(0)
Not that it matters, but these refs are HORRIBLE. Rondo got away with a blatant travel, and everytime one of our players goes up for a layup, they get mauled.
Right now we're on pace to score 60 points....for the entire game.
Celtics announcers calling it "embarrassing" how no one there at the rim to challenge Pierce and co. Once they drive past their man... Maybe if the wiz actually WERE more embarrassed they'd actually do something to change it...
By my count I think that's the 3rd time a Boston player should have had a flagrant called on him and the refs have done nothing.
Does anybody want to guard Pierce tonight???
Etan Thomas' defense makes me cry....
This whole team make me want to cry
Rondo with 7 assists already?!? Wow. He and Pierce have killed the Wiz so far.
I'm positive it was Boston's goal to destroy us this year because of last year.
Yea the no calls for us this year have grown to a ridiculous level. It feels like the NBA is against us. We could finish with the 2nd worst record in the league...I bet we're still the first team drawn in the lottery for the last pick.
It's embarrassing to watch their bench players absolutely destroy us. Pierce and Garnett don't even need to come back in this game.
It really is embarrassing because they have such a crappy bench
KG just single handed punked Juan and Javaris. If he was up 1 second earlier it would of been the most embarrassed play of the year for us
No push on Jamison??? Even though I guess our play doesn't warrant foul calls.
I kind of expected this. The Celtics were coming off a bad west coast trip and they get the worst team in the eastern conference. Of course they were going to push the pedal down and kill us especially after what we did to them last season.
I'm pretty sure Pierce hasn't missed a 3 yet. Yet, everytime someone passes him the ball, the nearest defender is only 7 feet away. Can an interim(sp) coach be fired???
The Celtics are such *******s...full court press???are you serious??? I'm glad I'm not an announcer for the Wizards. No way I could keep my composure like Steve and Phil. I'd be cussing, and calling out the team for lack of effort and execution, and stupidity.
30 point lead and they are playing their starters LOL I guess we are the easy win to get their mojo back after Kobe handed them their a**es
The Flash were down just one point at 89-88 with just over 2 minutes to go but the Toros' defense forced a combination of turnovers and missed shots that allowed the Austin Toros to pull out the 97-88 win over the Utah Flash. The Toros were the Celtics original D-League affiliate, coached by the late Dennis Johnson.
Bill Walker finished the game with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block. J.R.Giddens, still playing with a sore wrist, finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks.
The Flash (6-8) will take on the Anaheim Arsenal in Tuesday's nightcap of the NBA Development League Showcase in Orem at 7:15 p.m.
Although KG didn't score a lot, he set the tone early with his hustle. He finished the game with 10 points (5-9), 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block. The Celtics were dominating the game enough that KG played only 25 minutes in the Celtics 108-83 beating of the Wizards.
Perk had a nice game with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks and his customary tough defense inside in 27 minutes of play.
Paul Pierce was feeling it on offense in this game shooting 9-10 from the field and 5 of 6 3 pointers. The Celtics as a team shot 60% from beyond the arc. Pierce also finished with 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 block.
I love Leon! This kid works so hard every minute he is on the court. He played just over 14 minutes and finished with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 1 assist. The bench as a whole played very well in this game. Big Baby finished with 2 points 1 rebound, 1 assist, 3 steals and 1 block in 18 minutes. Patrick O'Bryant got just 5 minutes but looked good, finishing with 4 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist. Scal played 10 minutes, including some 2nd quarter minutes and finished with 5 points, 1 rebound and 1 block.
Eddie House led the bench scoring with 11 points to go with 3 rebounds and 1 assist. Tony had one of his better games of the season with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Gabe Pruitt played most of the 4th quarter and finished with 2 points and 2 rebounds.
Rondo came out aggressive early and finished with 10 points, 3 rebounds, 14 assists, 1 steal and 1 block in 27 minutes.
By the end of the game Gino was dancing and the starters were on the bench laughing and enjoying the game. This was a good way to come home from their less than successful road trip. They got some rest and came out and played a team game all around. Now let's go to New York and get it done on the road.
