Red Claws Claw Back from 17 Down for Win

Last night, with the Celtics off, I got a chance to watch the Red Claws game on Futurecast. At first, it appeared as though all was lost as they fell behind by 17 points. But, they fought hard and by the end of the 3rd quarter, they were down by just 3 and the final score was Red Claws 87, 66ers 82.
Celtic Bill Walker had a sub par shooting night with just 6 points on 2-8 shooting but he came through in other ways with 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal in 28 minutes of play. He also had 5 fouls which limited his time and effectiveness.
Jim Fossell has been doing some great writing in covering the Red Claws games.
Last night the Portland Expo crowd watched as their new team notched a gutsy win over the Tulsa 66ers. It was the sort of performance that Celtics fans will recognize, as it featured an anemic first half followed by an impressive second half. It was, by far, the most exciting game of the season, at home or on the road.
With the way the Maine Red Claws played in the first half other fans might have fled. Instead, the dedicated Maine basketball fans stuck it out, and saw the Claws come back from a 17-point halftime deficit to win the game 87-82. You can read the rest of his review here.
This is an exciting team and Austin Ainge is doing a very good job as the head coach. He would make a great coach for some NBA team looking for a young coach who can get the most out of young players. He certainly is doing it in Maine.
