Congratulations to Doc on his 200th win! Nice to have Gino come out to celebrate with him as the Celtics won it going away 118-86.
The Bench came up big for the Celtics as the starters got a rest. Leon finished with 5 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal in 23 minutes. Big Baby finished with 12 points, including his first career 3 pointer, to go with 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 1 block in 21 minutes.
As proof that white men can jump, Scal throws one down. The funniest thing about this was Tommy yelling about Scal elevating! Scal got the start in place of Perk and did very well against New Jersey's big man Brook Lopez. He finished with 9 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block in 27 minutes.
Paul Pierce had another good game with 22 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block in 32 minutes.
Rondo was back to his old aggressive self and out played Devin Harris in the key matchup of the game. He finished with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 12 assists and 3 steals in 30 minutes.
Kevin Garnett continued his aggressive play of late with 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block in just 24 minutes of play.
Ray Allen had a quiet game, taking just 8 shots and making 5 of them for 12 points, along with 1 steal in 28 minutes. Gabe Pruitt got some quality playing time and continues to look good, especially on the defensive end and finished with 9 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal in 19 minutes. .
We got our first Bill Walker sighting as he logged 12 minutes and finished with 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. His 3 baskets were all pretty impressive, especially one pass that he had to jump to catch and while in the air, he twisted around and put it in off the glass. He also played good defense in his time on the court
I really like the energy that Walker brings to the team. I think he can help the team this season if they give him a chance.
Eddie House finished with 10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal but limped to the locker room with the diagnosis of an ankle sprain.
The Celtics out-rebounded the Nets 45-32, which was pretty amazing with their height advantage. It just goes to prove that the majority of rebounding is effort and desire. Here Leon and Baby battle each other for a rebound. Someone ought to remind them that when one of the guys in white gets the ball, it's ok.
Patrick O'Bryant finished with 2 points, and 2 rebounds in 5 minutes. I don't think he has looked all that bad when he is in the game. He hustles and seems to play well. I am not sure why he doesn't get more minutes when we very much need height, especially with Perk out.
It was fun and games for the starters as the reserves finished the game out in style
