Boston is due for a loss! Why not now? Why not us? Ok there are tons reasons why it wont be us, but you never know. Boston may totally take us for granted. They may all get wasted Thursday night whatever. Its not that we are outmatched or anything against them. Deng and Pierce have been a good matchup over the years. The backcourt will basically cancel each other out. That just leaves KG. KG normally feasts on us but he may have tired legs. The major difference is defense and that's why they have only lost 2 games. This is a trap game for Boston...they just had an emotional win over Atlanta the other night and will be returning home tonight to face an "easy" opponent... Their stupid streak ends tonight. Bulls by double digits. I would be especially ecstatic if KG gets thrown out for taunting...
I think we will struggle to hit 80 points in this game. Possible playoff matchup. Let the demolition begin. Bulls lose by 40 - you heard it here first After getting blown out last time we played them I think we can upset them this time. They won't take us seriously and that is how we win. Ugly it will be. And prevail we shall not. But, booze will be had. Boston seems to take everyone seriously every night. I haven't seen this type of night in and night out competitiveness since the Dynasty. Even if they only take us half seriously, we match up miserably against them. We would lose on that alone. We could play this team 50 times, and I wouldn't put it past the C's to take all 50. I suggest Paxson make a trade before this game so we have an excuse prior to this execution. Loosing when you suit up 8 guys provides some false hope. I expect to see a lot of Scalabrine Look at their schedule - if the Celtics survive the X-mas showdown/2009 Finals preview with LA - the only thing that stands between them and a legit shot at the 33 game win streak is Lebron... Number 5, you gotta put him on the floor or you don't come home! You can sleep in the locker room tonight. Put 'em Down Noah! Put 'em Down! I'm not gonna lie..I think we're lose . Seriously , all jokes aside I don't even know if I'm gonna watch it . I'm a die hard bulls fan but it's only so much you can take . If KG taunts rose, hes a dead man. He has a thing for PGs (calderon, bayless) If Peirce and KG start jawing at our guys we need to tell Noc to send one of the two to the emergency room. I am tired of those two mouthing off and showboating. Who cares about the game itself… personally I can’t wait for the 700 posts quibbling about whether Rose has hit the rookie wall or not. I'm trying to decide if it would be better to watch this game sober or drunk... Everythings better drunk. Even your wife <3 Bulls- 111 Celtics- 80 Rose has a 30-15-10 night, Pierce fakes another injury in embarrassment. Boston's mental toughness, their consistent hunger and aggression is flat out awesome. Rajon Rondo rebounds over Gooden... Moses Malone, I mean Kendrick Perkins again on the offensive boards. Tommy Heinsohn is going to drive me to the bottle.. It is really sad how far away the Bulls are from even being competitive with the Celtics. Especially since it was just 2-3 years ago that the Bulls beat Boston fairly regularly... Are you kidding? Every team beat Boston regularly 2-3 years ago. Rondo has SIX assists already. The Celtics are getting easy shot after easy shot. I really hate rajon rondo. A Tommy point for KG? Perhaps that should go to Larry Hughes for throwing a cross court CHEST pass against a line of defense.. Our first team can beat the Celtics bench. Is it just me or is Rondo a show-off? Kevin Garnett is an idiot...smashing his head into the base of the hoop. What does that show? Toughness? Looks like a dumbass to me. Boston's defense is insane. How can anyone hate on a team that plays defense like that every night? That's championship basketball right there. Even the bench players for Cs get calls Remember the Big Baby hype? Now Leon Powe, that guy is solid. Man they get whatever calls they want. KG looks at a ref and the whistle blows immediately. Rondo with the clean pick of Rose. That's why Rondo is so loved in Boston. He's got great hands. Well.. Letting Kendrick Perkins score 17 pts inside on 8-10 shooting is something I'd complain about a little. But then again, rather him getting hot than KG.. We seem to be leaving Ray Allen open an awful lot. If he isn't draining the J', then he's driving and feeding Perkins who has absolutely killed us with wide open layups. Boston hasn't even gone out West yet. That record isn't gonna last. Rondo just snuck up behind Gray and swiped that from him. He is such a good defensive player. I hope some day soon Rose can be a smilar type defender, because Rondo is a game changer/tempo changer on that end of the floor. Wow, KG helped Rose off the ground. I wasn't expecting that. So unselfish. Boston is a freaking juggernaut. Wow. I don't get how half the NBA doesn't notice Allen when he sprints to the corners to hit threes. Has Tommy Heinsohn EVER thought a Celtics player has committed a foul? Whats Garnett cryin about? Noah even breaths on him and its a foul Rhondo's a knat...wow. He is the glue for the Celtics. KG taunted Deng. Kill him. I'm really getting tired of seeing the Celtics getting open shot after open shot. Can someone at least PRETEND to play some defense? You know you're playing like crap when Scalabrine is blocking you. Scal: "NOT IN MY HOUSE" Wow. The C's are phenomenal. You know your organization sucks when Brian Scalabrine is having a career night against you. Did Brian Scalibrine really just make a hook shot on our defense?
I want to hire Tom Thibodeau.... The Celtics horrendous bench is better than our bench. Good: Boston. Really, really, really good. Let's fast forward to the Eastern Conference Finals already. Cavs/Celtics. Celtics are scary good when their starters are on their floor. Their bench? Meh... Can't place too much blame on the Bulls here. Kendrick Perkin is a Hall of Famer. It kills me that we might have been able to make a play for Thibodeau as our head coach, and played great defense, or D'Antoni (if Reinsdorf hadn't pissed off the prima donna) and played great offense. We got the bargain-basement first-timer and we're playing neither. Thibodeau is so sick he makes doc rivers look like a hall of fame coach when we all know he's a tool. I would've taken thib over pretty much anyone not named Phil Jackson, Jerry sloan, or Greg popovich in a heartbreat.

The Utah Flash beat the Bakersfield Jam for their second straight win. JR Giddens was in the starting lineup again after missing the last game with a wrist injury.
JR played 37 minutes and filled up the stat sheet with 25 points on 11-15 shooting, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.
Bill Walker fouled out with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in 29 minutes of play.

Player of the Game - Kendrick Perkins
by FLCeltsFan 1:13 AM
As always there could be a case made for Ray Allen (27 points) or Rajon Rondo (15 assists) or Paul Pierce or KG who quietly filled up the stat sheets. But there is no doubt in my mind that Kendrick Perkins is the player of the game. He was dominant on both ends of the court with a career high 25 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block. Perk was truly a beast in this game.

Bulls at Celtics in Pictures 12/19
by FLCeltsFan 12:29 AM
I love this picture. I wonder if that was the rebound Rondo got over Gooden. It is just a great picture with 4 of the 5 starters taking off for a break up the court.
Rondo had another great game. He didn't score alot, but he set the pace and made some great assists. He finished with 4 points, 5 rebounds, 15 assists, and 4 steals. Anyone doubts that this kid is for real, really hasn't been paying attention.
KG finished with 17 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks. He joked about the 1 rebound in his press conference and said that between Perk and Rondo he can't get any rebounds anymore.
Paul Pierce had a solid game with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. It seems that he quietly fills up the stat sheet every night. Good to see that there are no linger effects of the knee injury.
Gabe played 13 minutes in this game and here is going for the save against Linsey Hunter. He finished with 3 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. I like Gabe. He has been playing good defense and has a smooth shot. I am happy to see him getting some playing time.
Tony had a decent game with 10 points, 4 assists and 2 steals. One of his steals led to a windmill dunk on the other end. Scal had 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 block and even hit a hook shot. Didn't know he had that in him!
Wow... just wow! Lucky sure catches some air. It's a wonder he doesn't break something.
Perk was a beast in this game pure and simple. He finished with a career high 25 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 steal and a monster block on Ben Gordon. Have I mentioned lately that I love Perk?
Leon again moved ahead of Big Baby in minutes in this game and finished with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in 14:41. They don't keep stats on the number of charges taken, but Leon has to lead the league in that stat. He gets plowed over more than the streets of Boston in a snow storm. What a tough kid! Big Baby played 13 minutes and finished with 4 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist.
Ray played the most minutes of any starter at 33. The rest of the starters all played 30 minutes or less. Ray had his stroke going tonight and got more than his share of open looks and hit 10-18 from the field for 27 points to go with 3 rebounds and 5 assists. Ray's stringent pregame routine was altered before this game as he had to arrive early due to the snowstorm but it didn't seem to bother his game any.
Another great picture. My goodness... When did Rondo get built like that?!?!? No wonder he always gets up when he takes those hard hits. That's Usain Bolt in the picture with them. First we had Michael Phelps and now Usain Bolt. The Lakers may have their movie stars but the Celtics have Olympic greats.

Random Thoughts As Celtics are Streaking
Friday, December 19, 2008
by FLCeltsFan 8:05 AM
I have tried not to get too excited about the Celtics Christmas day matchup, but Lex over at Lex Nihil Novi has gotten me more and more excited for this matchup. If your Laker Hate-O-Meter is getting low, go on over to Lex Nihil Novi for a refill. Some good stuff over there. I think Lex is one of the few bloggers who genuinely hates the Lakers as much as I do.
There is trouble in Lakerland these days. First we hear reports of Bynum complaining about his role and his playing time. Now, Farmar is complaining about his role and his playing time. In the meantime, that supposed Laker defense is quickly disappearing. It takes a special level of commitment to keep up that level of defense. Apparently the Celtics have it and the Lakers don't. They barely squeaked past a very undermanned Knicks team. There have been several articles in the LA papers about how soft they are.
Also, according to the LA papers, the Lakers are obsessed with the Celtics. Vujacic refuses to wear green. They are sitting in their locker room rooting against the Celtics and getting upset when the Celtics win. The Celtics are in their heads. This was in today's LA Times:
Ratcheting up the anxiety level among Lakers fans is the realization that, as was the case last June, the Boston Celtics are a better team. . . .
Kevin Garnett's ferocity has spread to his teammates. . . .
Adding to the consternation of Lakers fans: Kobe Bryant & Co. have failed to cover the betting line in each of their last seven games. . . . Jackson is already making excuses for his team and whining about their schedule leading up to their game against the Celtics. Now I read that Gasol may be out for their road trip. There's nothing wrong with him, he is just resting up for having to face Perk and KG.
How far Antoine Walker has fallen. He is one of the more polarizing figures in Celtics fans' conversations. Some love him and some hate him. You have to say this for him, he loved being a Celtic. After he won his ring in Miami, he chided Pierce that if he ever wanted a ring he needed to leave Boston. And then he was traded to the Wolves and played very sparingly and then he was traded to the Grizzlies and never played. Now he has been waived. Danny has already said that he isn't interested but there are quite a few Celtics' fans who would love to see Antoine come back for a third tour of duty. What's that old saying? Third time's a charm? Not so sure that would work in this case.
Rondo has taken his play to another level. For a kid who can't shoot, he has the highest FG% among PG's this season. It really is a shame that he isn't getting more love from the fans in voting for the All Star game. He has proved that he can hang with the best PG's in the league and has even dominated many of them. Rondo has also become the leader on a team with 3 future Hall of Famers. This is illustrated by the fact that in the Hawks game he told KG that he would have to be the one to take over in the 4th and he also told him to relax a little. For KG, relaxing means that he would just be slightly less intense than an atomic bomb. But, it worked and it was KG who led the Celtics to the win in the 4th quarter. The key for Rondo now is to be consistent and prove that he can do this on a regular basis. He is past the rookie wall and sophomore slump and so it should be smooth sailing from here on out.
Perk has also taken his game to another level. He is one of the top defensive centers in the league now. I can point out several articles I wrote waaay back when everyone else was calling Perk a bust and I was predicting that he would one day be one of the top centers in the league. Here is one from August 2006 Here is one from October 2007. And, another from December 2006. And you can search LOY's Place and find many more. I always pointed out the fact that center is one of the toughest positions to learn in the NBA and I knew that with Perk's work ethic he just had to succeed. He just works too hard not to. I always had one ally in my defense of and love for Perk and that was the crack staff at Perkisabeast. Incidentally, Perkisabeast has gotten some love lately as well as I saw Brian from Perkisabeast on Celtics Now on Wednesday. Good job Brian! I am happy that others are now seeing what I saw in Perk all along. In case you didn't know it, I love Perk!
Paul Pierce was named Bostonian of the Year. Pierce stuck with the Celtics and the Celtics did right by him. It reminds me of the old days when Celtics spent their whole careers with the Celtics. That is why the team has so many retired numbers. Guys spent their whole career with the Celtics and not just a year or two. And, I expect Pierce's number to be in the rafters one day as well. I'd love to see him retire as a Celtic just like the old days.
The Celtics continue to play with a bulls eye on their backs. Every team gives it their best shot to beat the Champs. Rondo had this to say after seeing the Hawks give their best shot to beat the Celtics.
After watching the Hawks run at his team like a band of kamikazes, Rajon Rondo [stats] wondered where they would be if they played every game with that kind of passion.
“They’d probably be No. 2 in the league,” the Celtics point guard said. “I’m sure that they’d be a top-five team. The Celtics are facing a playoff type atmosphere in every game. Teams that are less than average against every other team in the league suddenly become contenders when they face the Celtics. It is amazing how well average teams play when they play the Celtics. It is also interesting to read in this morning's Herald that Doc has finally gotten the Celtics to tone down their trash talking but that every other team in the league seems to be picking up their trash talk.
Celtics face the Bulls tonight. This has the markings of a trap game. An underachieving team that will probably come out like gangbusters to try to take down the Champs, the Celtics coming off a big game in Atlanta, and Pierce less than 100%. Hopefully the Celtics won't take them for granted and will put them away early. I could use a good old fashioned blow out in this one. [Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]

Comments from the Other Side - Hawks
Thursday, December 18, 2008
by FLCeltsFan 8:23 AM
I was surprised that the Hawks fans weren't very talkative. On several boards, there wasn't even a game thread. For all Bibby's talk of the Celtics' bandwagon fans, Atlanta definitely doesn't have that problem. The Celtics' game was only the 4th sellout this season and even then there were javascript:void(0)empty seats in the building (and probably quite a few Celtics' fans). The Hawks are a very good young team. Atlanta needs to get behind them before another city steals them like OKC did with the Sonics. The way the Hawks are playing they deserve better support than they are getting from the city of Atlanta. I know the last couple of comments aren't about the Celtics but I thought they were pretty funny.
This is as big as the reg season gets, get this one for the city and lets help espn get off Boston's you know what.
The Celtics streak is history. They can't win in this building. They lost all 3 in the playoffs and the Hawks are better while the Celtics got worst without posey or brown. we got this one!
Hawks are 1-9 in their building. This is a tough place to win and the Celtics are going to come in overconfident with their big win streak and the Hawks will take them down a peg or 2.
I just heard that Faker Pierce is going to play. That guy fakes more injuries than anyone in the league and then comes out like a hero to save the day. I hate Pual Pierce.
How many Phantom Fouls calls will Pierce get tonight?
You know we'll be seeing crocodile tears from Pierce all night. He'll limp like his knee is hurt to begin the game. He'll limp like his back is hurt after Smoove breathes on him under the basket. He'll limp around holding his head at the end of the 1st Quarter.
PP reminds me of Fred Sanford ..... "Elizabeth - I'm coming to join ya honey!"
We're 9-1 at home They're 9-1 on road Stern better send those Boston refs if they want the W
Can't let Garnett bully us around
Ray Allen will play sparingly, spraining an ankle after slipping on Glen Davis' puddle of tears on the way to the scorer's table. * In honor of Glen Davis, the Hawks modify one of its favorite traditions, introducing CRY-CAM. Winning contestant gets a bottle of "whine" courtesy of The Grape restaurant. I'll be rooting hardcore for you guys. I loved that playoff series last year. I love your team and how they play against the Celtics. Give those babies something to cry about again. The key to beating the Celtics is keeping Rondo in check ! Rondo has been killing people lately. I think he had 25 points, 9 assists, 8 rebounds and 3 steals last game. He set a record for the fastest triple double in league history about 2 weeks ago. He is blossoming. His jumper is a major weakspot The Celtics have a lot of weapons. Containing Rondo is a lot easier said than done/ Rondo is so overrated it's ridiculous, he is completely a product of great teammates. Rondo is a beast. I wanted him in the draft even with the 5th pick. At the time he would've been a reach but looking back he definitely would be top 5. Plus we picked Shelden, a guy who was obviously a college baller and not NBA material. I notice this in the Toronto game, but it seems as soon as the other team gets T'ed up, that the refs start being very slow to blow on their whistle for a bit after that. The Celtics clearly are uncomfortable playing the Hawks in Atlanta. The refs gave the Celtics some calls I disagreed with...particularly in the 3rd quarter. KG traveled and double dribbled on the same play and they didn't call it. Pierce also had and and 1 where he dribbled after the whistle and it counted and Perkins 3 point play was a 3 second violation(although I can't blame the refs for the no-call). The play where they just gave Boston the ball after the player was clearly out of bounds was the 2nd worst call of the night after the KG double dribble.
You still have to give the Celtics a lot of credit. They pulled out a tough win on the road and KG stepped up when his team needed him. It's a long way away but I wouldn't mind playing them in the playoffs again... The Hawks and Celtics have played basically even in both games. Change a single play in either game and you get a different outcome. It just sucks we could have ended that streak. I don't think anyone is to blame in particular for this loss other than the Celtics being a great team. I don't think people realize how hard it is to beat Boston...their defense is historically good. I really thought we would win this one when we got up 6 and seemed to have the momentum. Damn refs didn't help us...I understand walking and double dribbles - apparently the refs don't.
I was at the game and the ref and the calls were totally in Boston's favor! One of the worst officiating games i've ever seen. i'm sure you all saw the foul on the Hawks when Cry Baby Pierce slips and falls. What a joke!
I have finals but f that, the study guide is taking a bee line into the bookbag.
hahahahaha same bro. got my last one tomarrow, ef studying.
hope it's not a spelling final.

Player of the Game - Kevin Garnett
Wednesday, December 17, 2008
by FLCeltsFan 11:27 PM
Once again, a case could be made for several Celtics to be player of the game. Perk came up with some bit rebounds and key defensive plays including that huge block at the end of the game. Pierce played tough in spite of soreness in his knee and had some big plays in the 4th. Rondo had another solid game and filled up the stat sheet. But, the player of the game was Kevin Garnett. When the team was down in the 4th quarter, KG came up with all the big plays. He hit tough baskets, played defense, and generally willed the team to a win with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks. He answered any critics who still insist that he isn't clutch at the end of games.

Celtics at Hawks in Pictures 12/17
by FLCeltsFan 10:23 PM
Once again, Rondo out played the opposing point guard. This time, it was Mike Bibby's turn as Rondo finished with 15 points (7-12), 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals while Bibby had 14 points on 5-16 shooting to go with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Rondo had some incredible drives to the hoop and exciting shots and he set the tone in the 4th quarter when the Celtics pulled out the win.
Perk was a beast in this game coming up with some great defense inside and a very key block to preserve the win. He finished with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 big blocks.
In this game, it was KG who emerged from the phonebooth to play Superman in the fourth quarter, setting the pace, hitting the big shots, grabbing the big rebounds and willing his team to a win. He finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks.
Paul Pierce was a game time decision and played almost 40 minutes and looked good out there. He slipped on the floor at one time and landed awkwardly which had everyone holding their breath, but he seemed to have no ill effects from the injury he suffered in the Jazz game. He finished with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 1 steal.
Big Baby again got almost 4 more minutes than Leon Powe, but Leon out played Big Baby even in fewer minutes. Big Baby had 2 points and 1 rebound in almost 14 minutes of play while Leon made the most of his 10 minutes with 4 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block.
Ray struggled with his shot once again, shooting just 5-15 from the court, but hit two very clutch free throws at the end of the game to seal the win.
Eddie House was back after missing the last game due to the death of his aunt and finished with 3 points and 1 rebound in 11 minutes. Tony Allen had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal and played some good defense in his 13 minutes. After filling in for Eddie House in the last game, Gabe Pruitt logged a DNP coach's decision.
It seemed like the Hawks beat the Celtics to all the loose balls and offensive rebounds. But the Celtics kept their poise down the stretch and somehow pulled out the 88-85 win to keep their 16 game win streak alive.

Flash Get the Win as Giddens Sits Out
Tuesday, December 16, 2008
by FLCeltsFan 9:14 AM
JR Giddens sat out the 114-108 win over the Reno Bighorns with a sprained wrist. Gavin Grant got the start in his place and made the most of it. Grant scored a game high 28 points on 10-16 shooting to go with 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. If Grant continues to play like this in Giddens' absence, JR's starting spot may be in jeopardy.
Bill Walker played 33 minutes in this game after leaving the last game after only 7 minutes with a strained neck. Walker finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks.

Comments from the Other Side - Jazz
by FLCeltsFan 8:41 AM
It seems that Rondo made a believer out of some Jazz fans after this game. I thought the graphic with the colors switched on the logos was pretty cool. It plays with your mind. The complaints about the refs were valid. However, I think the Celtics had even more cause to complain. The refs were terrible both ways but especially in the 2nd quarter, the Jazz got the benefit of quite a few bad calls.
Last year we pulled this one off. I wish we had Boozer for this game. Oh well, the Celtics are overated... Celtics have won 14 in a row. Seems like a trap game for them. Hurt team, on the road, after a bad loss. Jazz take this one in a miracle. It's going to be a pummeling, a drubbing and a sound thrashing all rolled into one. Lets not forget that the C's will be motivated by their defeat at the hands of the Jazz last season. I see no way for the Jazz to win this game. They don't have the fight that it takes. I'm not looking forward to rondo vs Williams...rondo is a fast mofo. My heart says jazz win this one tonight How to win an NBA championship: 1. Keep your only All-Star 2. Acquire two other All-Stars 3. That's it. Jazz give up 40 in the first quarter and never get within 20 for the rest of the game. Kendrick Perkins and Tony Allen combine for 50 points. Jazz beat them at Boston last year. Can it happen again?
.....well, the difference is obvious! We have 3 white guys with no brains....and they have 3 black guys with brains! ....and for this game, your going to need something stronger to drink than beer!.......and no, it can't happen again! Also, if I watch the game, and I see Kev Garnett barking on all fours at whomever he is "guarding," I'm literally going to **** in my pants and mail it to him. Road game, eastern conference, +.500 team.. Jazz lose. I hope the Jazz can prove us wrong, but the Celtics are playing out of their minds right now. Plus we suck so far this year against the East. We faced the Celts in Boston much later in the season last year as well, at this stage in the season and with where we're at, I'll be happy if we lose by less than 10.I hope the Jazz can prove us wrong, but the Celtics are playing out of their minds right now. Plus we suck so far this year against the East. We faced the Celts in Boston much later in the season last year as well, at this stage in the season and with where we're at, I'll be happy if we lose by less than 10. All I want for Christmas is for the Jazz to win this game!! The Jazz might as well just fly to the next city they are scheduled to play in....don't even land in Boston! They have ZERO chance of winning this game. ZERO! Not only are they playing short handed and poorly, then you have the revenge factor from last year when they beat the Celtics stopping their 11 game winning streak...plus, Boston is on a serious roll right now I don't care about the odds. We're going to play inspired ball and win this.
It seem that everybody is forgetting that Ray Allen only played the 1st quarter in that game. I think he's their biggest threat against us, since he's a ridiculous shooter. These refs suck We're only down by 12, shooting a whole 41 percent, holding them to 59 percent shooting, and only have 7 turnovers in the end of the first quarter! At this rate, we're only going to lose by 48, have 28 turnovers, and hold Boston to a near record night shooting! Yeah, it's definetly the refs fault that we're shooting 41 percent, allowing them to shoot 59, and have committed 7 turnovers. These refs! For not allowing us to win and beat the best team in the league, while playing so pathetic that even the thunder could beat us! This game is over. Rondo will get inside when he wants too and whenever he doesn't make a layup, Perkins will get the offensive board and dunk it. Deron looks in slow motion against Rondo. Garnett shoves Millsap with both hands and Celtics announcers want a foul on Millsap? Celts got all the calls in the 1st, we're getting them now in the 2nd. Hey! The Celtics caught the jazz disease! Now they're playing down to our level! Sweet! Jazz just need to hang around and try to steal it at the end. Milsap doing his best against the big Boston front line while Okur huddles in feeble position. Guys I do believe you are going to win this one. The Celtics are overrated, period. PS I'm a rockets fan. Rajon Rondo offensive board between Sap and Memo? Really? So Pierce gets tripped, it's a foul. Korver gets tripped, it's a **** you Rando has just as many turnovers as Deron has points..... Why does Deron keep going over the screen with Rondo??????? He cant SHOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Williams got owned by Rondo. Rondo is very good. Best player on the floor tonight. The Celtic announcers just called Memo a "great big lump of nothing" on defense.

Player of the Game Rajon Rondo
by FLCeltsFan 8:31 AM
Ordinarily, a 15 point 14 rebound game by Perk would have been good enough to win him the honor of player of the game. Or, a game when KG fills up the stat sheet with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks would have been a worthy candidate for player of the game.
But, on this night, those accomplishments were overshadowed by a monster game from Rajon Rondo who finished with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals. And he amassed those stats playing against Olympic gold medalist Deron Williams, who is considered one of the top PG's in the league. It is amazing that a 6'1" point guard can out rebound the opposing center.
Rondo mentioned in the post game interview that he is banged up with a sore back and a strained Achilles. It isn't surprising considering that he gets hit hard almost every time he ventures to the basket. From the Globe:
He seemed to take so many hits in the quarter that fans behind press row took to calling him "rag doll".
"You never worry about him getting back up," joked Celtics forward Leon Powe. He takes so many hard hits, he does look like a rag doll out there. And, he always gets back up and goes at it again. Every time he gets hit hard, you expect him to stay down but he never does. He is one tough kid!
The fact that Rondo isn't in the top 10 vote getters for the All Star game is truly sad. [Discuss this topic on the Celtics Green Forums!]

Jazz at Celtics in Pictures 12/15
Monday, December 15, 2008
by FLCeltsFan 10:21 PM
This game was anticipated as a test for Rondo against another of the top PG's in the league. I'd have to say Rondo won this one handily as he finished with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals. Williams was not even close with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. When asked if Williams' ankle could have slowed him down, Rondo said there were no excuses since his back hurts and he was playing with a strained Achilles himself. Rondo's performance was a hot topic in the post game press conference where Pierce called him a little Speedy Gonzalez out there on the court and KG made it clear that Rondo is not the guy you want to play HORSE with.
With Eddie House out of town due to a death in the family, Gabe Pruitt got the nod and scored 8 points including two 3 pointers along with 1 steal.
Kevin Garnett filled up the stat sheet with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
Paul Pierce finished with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. The entire Celtics Nation held it's breath as Pierce went down at the end of the game clutching his knee after Okur fell on it. He was helped off the court by Big Baby and Leon Powe as he limped to the locker room. But, he came out for the post game press conference and said that he didn't plan on getting tests on it and that it was a little sore but it was going to be ok. He didn't feel that it went back that far and he was able to put weight on it.
The officiating in this game had a lot of us scratching our heads. They were allowing a lot of contact one moment and calling ticky tack fouls the next. Even though it was a home game, I thought the Celtics got the worst of it, but there were bad calls on both sides. Poor Tommy was beside himself with the bad calls and no calls. It was a badly officiated game.
Big Baby once again got more playing time than Leon and played well. He finished with 4 points and 5 rebounds. Leon finished with 1 point and 1 rebound and was the recipient of several of those bad calls.
Perk was a beast in this game with 15 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists. He had one rebound and put back in traffic that prompted Tanguay to excitedly yell "Perk is a Man!!!"
Tony Allen continued his up and down play shooting 0-3 and finishing with 1 point, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. One thing that Posey brought that Tony still has to develop is consistency.
Ray Allen had a fairly quiet night with 12 points on 4-9 shooting to go with 3 rebounds and 1 block.
At times it seemed as though it was 1 on 5 as Rondo Beat everyone down the court and finished with an assortment of circus shots. This game showed that as goes Rondo so go the Celtics. In the first quarter, Rondo was aggressive and the Celtics finished the quarter up 12. In the second quarter, Rondo wasn't as aggressive and the teams finished the half tied. Rondo went back to being aggressive in the second half, giving the Celtics the win.

Is Boston too cold for Mutombo?
by Unknown 3:06 AM
If memory serves me correctly, back when Dikembe Mutombo was a free agent a couple of years ago, it was noted that he prefered to stay away from cold weather cities, and thus why he favored Houston. But now that he's hoping to play again in the NBA (and Houston has yet to return his call), he may have to broaden his geographic preference. And if he wants to wear a championship ring on his finger, he may want to shop for thermal underwear and sign on with us.
Even though he's no longer the league's most feared shot blocker like he was in his heyday, he's still a defensive presence, due to his 7 foot frame, long limbs, and timing. He's never relied on jumping ability to be a shot blocking force--it was always about positioning (both his feet and hands) and excellent timing--so that's why at 43 years old, he's still being sought after by a handful of teams.
I certainly don't mind bringing PJ Brown back for his second call of duty, but I hear he's 50/50 on that. If Mt Mutombo can deal with cold weather for a few months, he'll provide solid backup minutes behind Perk.

Walker and Giddens Nurse Injuries as Flash Lose 88-74
Sunday, December 14, 2008
by FLCeltsFan 12:38 AM
The Flash dropped to 2-5 after their 3rd loss in a row as they were soundly beaten by the Stampede 88-74. Their offense went south in this game as they went the first 8 minutes of the game without a field goal.
Bill Walker, who is the Flash leading scorer at 22.2 ppg, did not attempt a shot and failed to get a rebound in just over seven minutes of first quarter action and did not return to the game nursing a neck strain.
JR Giddens also struggled on offense, scoring just two points to go with four rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 2 blocks in 28 minutes while battling a sprained wrist. Both Walker and Giddens are listed as day-to-day.
