Comments from the Other Side - Wolves
by FLCeltsFan 9:04 AM
I think we'll win the game against the C's because half our team is playing against their old team so they will be pretty motivated I hope Al and Love just shut KG down, looking at how KG has been acting since the playoffs last year, and the incident with Calderon just last week or so, has made me think back to all the crap that he used to get in, like the time he got in the fight with Anthony Peeler when we play Sacto in the Western Confrence Semi Finals, and the Antonio Mcdyess fight when KG threw the weakest punch ever. I have really come to dislike KG lately.
Looks like if BOS loses, they can't blame it on being tired. They were up by 20 on the Pistons after three quarters, and nobody played 30 minutes. I wonder if Big Al's smack to KG last year is gonna come back and haunt him a lil tonight? You know, "We both have no rings"? LOL We'll most likely lose...by a lot.. But if we won this game id be happy for the rest of the season Should be fun to watch Love and Powe go at it. KG is obviously intense but the rest of the team sleepwalks until the 4th Ah Boston broadcast...as bad as it gets Yeah, listening to the Boston commentators is going to be brutal. Al was born in 1985. I have T-Shirts from 1985. And how old was Jordan when they someone said he couldn't play defense, then won the Defensive Player of the Year Award the next season? He had to be older than Al. To sum up: Shrink is cheap, and needs to buy new T-Shirts Al Jefferson is a bigger, younger Mike Jordan Wolves benchis greater than Boston But Wolves starters is less than Boston LOL @ the crowd that's pathetic I've heard louder crowds watching golf You guys see all of those dammed traitors in the crowd? This game is barely watchable. The positive is that we can't choke in the 4th quarter I think the crowd has more energy than this team. Having 3 plays on offense doesn't help either against a good defensive team....or any team really Seriously highschool teams have more offensive sets than we do its pathetic. If I suited up id be able to play in this offense I know every play
If Wittman is staying for the rest of his contract i dont know how much more of this team i can watch Im all in favor of an entire roster overhaul Including trading Al Jefferson.

Player of the Game - Rajon Rondo
Friday, November 21, 2008
by FLCeltsFan 11:24 PM
For the second game in a row, Rajon Rondo set the tone for the game. He was aggressive on both ends of the court. Here are his stats for this game: 13 points on 5-13 shooting including 2-3 from beyond the arc. One of his 3 pointers was from downtown Minneapolis to beat the buzzer at the end of the first half. 7 rebounds - is there a better rebounding point guard in the league? 5 assists 3 steals After struggling in a few games, Rondo has been spectacular in his last 2 games. He is making a good case for voting for him to go to the All Star Game. Which reminds me... Go here to vote for the 5 Celtics on the ballot.

Celtics at Wolves in Pictures
by FLCeltsFan 10:52 PM
It was an emotional homecoming for KG, playing in his first game in the Target Center since his trade to Boston, but he kept his emotions in check and finished with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block. One thing I have noticed is that KG has been getting at least one alley oop per game lately.
In the last two blow out wins, Gabe Pruitt has gotten some minutes: 12 against the Pistons and 4 tonight. He finished with 5 points. Patrick O'Bryant has also gotten some minutes in the past two games as well finishing with 1 block and 3 fouls in this game.
Rajon Rondo has played very well over the past few games. He posted in his blog on Yardbarker that he has changed his pre-game ritual and thinks that helped. Whatever he is doing, he needs to keep it up. He has been aggressive in taking the ball to the basket, hitting jumpers and generally been setting the tone for the game. He finished this one with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.
For the second game in a row, Pierce didn't have to take over offensively but he found other ways to contribute. He finished with just 12 points but also had 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
Leon Powe continues to make a case for more minutes as he finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds in just 19 minutes. This guy personifies the word hustle. I love Leon. Leon was needed tonight as Perk was in foul trouble much of the game and fouled out with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 block.
The KG/Big Al matchup was a good one. Big Al scored 23 points but shot just 8-20. I really miss Big Al. I love KG and am glad the we have him, but I just wish we could someday get Big Al back as I think he is going to be a very special player and he's a good guy. I suspect that part of Perk's struggles stem from playing against his good friend once again.
There were quite a few Celtics fans in the crowd. I have never heard a crowd so dead though. They didn't seem to have much emotion for their team other than some boos in the 3rd quarter. I have never been able to figure fans booing their own team. Booing them definitely won't spur them on and encourage them.
Like Pierce, Ray didn't need a high scoring game but also found other ways to help with 11 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists.

The Green's Post Game Quotes
by Loyalist 5:26 PM
Kevin Garnett:
"When we put our foot on the gas, I don’t think we looked back,”
"It was a huge game for us. This is probably one of the better team, not only in the Eastern Conference but in our league. It’s a team that we might see later on, so the more the merrier. We knew that we had to bring it.”
"We watched them play Cleveland [a 96-89 Detroit win Wednesday], and we knew that we had to bring it. For the most part, we were talkative, we had energy, and I don't think we looked back."
Paul Pierce:
"We think Rondo matches up with Iverson quickness for quickness,”
"You know, especially when you don’t expect him to outscore Iverson, it’s a big plus on a night like this. It just takes a lot of pressure off a lot of other guys. Nobody really had to have a huge night. It was a great team effort with Rondo leading the charge.”
“I think we really match up a lot better with them this year, than we did last year, especially with the Chauncey Billups factor. Even though Iverson is a great player, we don’t have to worry about their point guard posting us up.”
Doc Rivers:
"The key to the game on the board before the game, if we can force them to play against our halfcourt defense, then we like our chances. If they get into fast break basketball, I like their chances.”
“Yeah, Tony, just the entire bench, but Tony was huge,”
"Rondo won a couple matchups last year when his speed was a factor,"
"So, yes, it's a bonus whenever you can win at that position against the."
"Our spacing was great,"
"We talked about it a lot during the first quarter during timeouts - our spacing was bad. We thought we had driving lanes but we were kind of walking out to the 3-point line to get space instead of spreading out and taking guys with them. I thought they did that in the second quarter, and that all owed guys to drive to the paint."
"The guys were terrific,"
This was one of our best efforts of the year on both ends of the floor. I thought we had great focus tonight, played with a great purpose on both ends."
“We talked about it this morning, if we could force them to play against our halfcourt defense, then we like our chances. If they get into fast-break basketball, I like their chances.”
Eddie House:
"Things started going the other way, but then we started making subs,”
"We were playing well together.”
"This is a tough place to play, and we're one of the elite teams in the league,"
"Coming in on a back-to-back is tough against any team, but especially coming in here. Not making any excuses for them, we just played hard today, played well offensively and defensively. We forced a lot of turnovers (16) and that was a good thing for us."
"The thing with Doc is that if he senses a unit is playing particularly well,"
"he tends not to mess with it. He rides it until the wheels fall off. We were out there playing well, so he kept with it."
Tony Allen:
“Doc told us before the game,”
“that our bench had to be better than their bench. We took that as a challenge. We were fortunate enough to play hard and execute on plays and get some stops.”
“Basically I saw guys driving with their heads down, and I just took a reach in there,”
“They could easily have gone the other way.”
“I just take what the defense gives me,”
Kendrick Perkins:
"We've just been going out there, moving the ball,"
"Guys are not worrying about themselves. We're just playing together, and that's the key."
Ray Allen:
"Beating the Lakers and the Cavs, that speaks volumes, you knew they were going to get better. They had to get comfortable with Allen and Allen had to get comfortable with the system."

Walker headed to the D-League
by FLCeltsFan 11:07 AM
According to Marc Spears in the Globe:
Bill Walker, who has played six minutes in two appearances, confirmed he will be sent to the NBA Development League today.
Walker has such a great attitude and work ethic. You have to like this kid. He came in and worked his way onto the team and now, instead of being upset about being sent to the D-League, he is excited for the chance to play and improve.
"It’s not a demotion at all. So you have you to get that out your mind,” Walker said before Thursday’s game against the Detroit Pistons. “It’s the reason that why they created the D-League, so that instead of having guys sitting on the bench, not staying in shape, they can go down there and play.”
“I welcome it,” Walker said. “If it happens, I’m looking forward to going down and playing against someone other than my teammates.”
“[I've learned about] just having a pro pace without rushing yourself, knowing your limits, staying within your game,” Walker said. “Just little things I’ve been learning, picking up stuff from Paul (Pierce) and the pace he plays at. He doesn’t go any faster than he wants to and he makes use of every move he uses.” I really like this kid and can see him really making some noise in the D-League and I can also see him coming up big for the Celtics in the second half of the season.

Comments from the Other Side - Pistons

Here's to back-to-back wins vs elite teams! Wish Garnett would've gotten suspended for this game, haha. They made sure he was back for this one. If we beat them, we gotta do it in style especially with garnett present. For the most part, the Celts bigs feast on timid players (i.e.- Pau Gasol in the finals). Leon and Perk have become such good position rebounders, that it seems that only the most savvy rebounders play well against them (like K Mart the other night). I can't understand it; when we play Boston rondo shines but Stuckey s***s. When I see Boston play defence they make me feel jealous.
This is gonna be a very frustrating night if we don't play a better D. Good foul Rip. Smack the arrogant Allen! Perkins, go eat a tray of hot dogs at halftime slob.
You gotta play the Celtics... So why not LEARN how to beat 'em?! Atlanta did, Cleveland did, hell, even Denver did. You gotta go at 'em, you gotta take 'em out of their halfcourt set. Rondo abusing Iverson like he did Chauncey in last years ECF's. This is sad. They came out from halftime and look like they don't even care. Poor poor performance tonight. Another spanking by the Celtics.
Celtics are putting on a clinic OMG Scalabrini shoots the 3. And Bostons bench continues to kill us. Same old story. I thought we were supposed to have the bench advantage. Ugh. Boston lead the bench points at the half 21 - 6. It's obvious we can't defeat Boston, which means we can't win the East, which means we won't win a 'ship this year. So, what's the next move... I just still don't believe Boston is that much better than this team....I really don't.... Rebounding wins games, rebounding wins championships. That is EXACTLY why Boston IS that much better than us! You know what's revealing? The Big Three didn't do jack. Rondo and their role players punked the Pistons again.
It makes me sick how much we always let Rondo drive in the lane on us. Somebody needs to lay hiss *** out! Their bench scrubs are outscoring us We're getting owned in every aspect of the game and we still have starters playing. Pistons should sit down and study Celtics tapes, and mimic them. They play true team basketball and great defense. It's just like the first game against Boston this year. Iverson or no Iverson, Dice or no Dice, they're going to beat us if we continue to suck both defensively and offensively. Yep, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion: Boston will beat us should we meet in the playoffs, and now they're going to sweep us. Sad truth. The Celts are so much better than us it's not even funny. Our ONLY hope is to get the #1 seed and hope the Cavs can knock off Boston in the 2nd round. We're championship contenders. Difference is that Boston is actual champions, and they're showing it. We can beat Lakers and Cavs, other contenders, but we can't beat the actual champs.

Player of the Game - Rajon Rondo
by FLCeltsFan 9:13 AM
The player of the game was Rajon Rondo. He set the tone from the beginning on both ends of the court. He clearly out-played Allen Iverson. Rondo outscored Iverson, 18-16, and had eight assists to Iverson's four. Rondo hit seven of 11 shots from the floor and 2 of his misses were flings at the end of the quarter hoping for a miracle. Iverson made only 5 of 13. And, Rondo played 8 fewer minutes than his counterpart.
Honorable mention has to go to Tony Allen who was a spark off the bench on both ends of the court. He finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, and 2 blocks in 27 minutes and he anchored a very stingy bench defensive unit. Best of all, the play of the bench allowed the starters to keep their minutes down, which will be key in tonight's game against the Wolves.

Pistons at Celtics in Pictures
by FLCeltsFan 8:11 AM
The Celtics defense and rebounding effort were big in this win. The bench defense was the best effort from them so far this season.
Pierce's heroics weren't needed in this game as he played only 28 minutes and finished with only 9 points to go with 4 rebounds and 3 assists. In fact, Pierce's 28 minutes were the most of any starter.
KG's good luck ritual to start the game is obviously working. He had a very relaxing game in this one with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals in only 25 minutes of play.
Rajon Rondo had his way with Allen Iverson, outplaying him in just about every facet of the game. Rondo finished with 18 points, 1 rebound, 8 assists, and 3 steals in just 25 minutes. Rondo frustrated Iverson on both ends of the court the entire game.
Tony Allen led a very active bench with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks in 27 minutes. Tony loves the Pistons as his last big game was when he scored 23 points against the Pistons in their last meeting. Tony also anchored a very tough bench defensive unit. Leon Powe was also big off the bench with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 1 block in 18 minutes. Eddie House hit some big shots as the Celtics made a run in the second quarter and finished with 7 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal. Even Gabe Pruitt and Patrick O'Bryant got into the act. Pruitt played 12 minutes and finished with 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. POB had 4 points, and 1 rebound in 6 minutes. My favorite moment of the game was when O'Bryant hit his first shot and the entire bench, especially Perk, was up and cheering wildly for him. Ubuntu at its best.
It wasn't really a scrappy game like the NY game was, but Perk picked up yet another technical. I really think refs call techs on him just because of the look on his face. He doesn't even need to say anything. He is a marked man! The Celtics hustled for all the loose balls and rebounds and clearly were the more aggressive team. Leon Powe continues to impress on both ends of the court. I don't think there is another player in the league who takes more charges than Leon.
KG's intensity is rather scary at times. Sometimes I think he may just implode and burst into flames one of these times. I have a feeling that intensity is about to ratchet up a bit as he returns to the court in the Target Center for the first time since the trade.
As good as the Celtics played in this game, there is still one area of concern and that is their free throw shooting. They shot only 68% from the line in this game. They have to improve in that area or it is going to cost them close games as the year goes on.

Comments from the Other Side - Knicks

Knicks lose by 45... Again. We are not the same team from last year, we deserve a little more credit than that runnyc. We lose by 30 Hide the women and children. This might get ugly Knicks fans. I am going to have the wine next to me. I am pretty sure this one is going to require alcohol to get through You might need a little more than that. Like Wine, a blunt, some Tylenol, a couple beers, a bottle of whiskey, asprin, vicodin and a pack of cigarettes. I wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks shock the world and pull outta win. Boston Garden was torn down a while ago. They now play in TD Banknorth Garden, formerly known as the Fleet Center. Who cares, any place that is used to gather Boston fans should be called The Dumpster, I think the Knicks will keep it close until the fourth when Boston usually decides to murder every team. I really don't know how any team in the East can beat this team at present if they are playing at top flight. I hope Garnett trips and falls into a large ladies frontal area courtside. We'll see how intense you are after that. Crawford better have a huge game being guarded by the old man. No KG, I wouldn't be shocked if the Knicks lose by less than 20. KG is the backbone of their team, both offensively and defensively. I think we at least have a chance now. All I have to say is, Leon Powe is no slouch. That man is gonna kill us. Watch how many times Pierce throws his shoulders back like he's been shot on his drive and watch the stupid NBA refs put him on the line every time. If we can't beat a team that starts Scalabrine...then...I dunno. I just don't know. Has Paul pierce lost like 30lbs since last yr? Lol he looked like the doughboy last yr now he looks like a Pro. Rondo has to be the only PG I know that doesn't dribble with his left hand.. He reminds me of 9th grade hs ball. Having to watch a game with Heinson announcing is cruel and unsusual punnishment to opposing fans... Please don't let this Leon Powe character run loose on us...I rather someone else beat us. Is it just me or has this officiating been suspect at best? Who is a bigger homer tonight The Celtics announcer or The Refs?? Why is chandler trying to back fat Perkins down.. Just go by him Leon powe is a joke Why because he's a world champion who **** on our front court? Isn't Brian Scalabrine a world champ also? They are shooting 70% without Pierce. We getting beat by a bum, a fat fart and two guards with no handle... Wow Powe is a good player, not some scrub not to mention he's one hell of a guy. Man I never thought I would say this, but we need to get Powe in foul trouble, he is chewing us up down there. This is BS!! Why cant we play the Thunder for the rest of the season?? Kedrick Perkins, the offensive machine... I didn't know Refs where part of the Garnet trade.... Wow....Now we making Scalabrini look like Dirk Nowitzki Pierce falls from any contact. How do they not know that's a flop!! The FLOPPING IS GETTING RIDICULOUS! How does Powe flop while Lee is still dribbling and gets a call? Man, I hate house, he looks like a little bug! Pierce forced everything, he initiates all the contact then cries that he doesn't get the call. Its pathetic This clown Perkins makes that shot. Now I guess we are going to see the half court hook from bobo the clown next? I hate Paul Pierce. I hate the whole Celtics squad. Except Ray Allen. Can Paul Pierce do anything other than run over players and get officials to give him FTs? The more aggressive team won! But that will come back to haunt them! It's good to officially be able to hate the Celtics again! Feels real good!

Player of the Game - Kendrick Perkins
by FLCeltsFan 8:39 AM
This was a game in which we could pick any one of several players as Player of the Game and be justified. Here are the candidates: Paul Pierce 22 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists Rajon Rondo 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals Brian Scalabrine 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block Leon Powe 14 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block Eddie House 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists 2 steals Kendrick Perkins 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks
Every one brought big contributions. But, in my opinion, the guy that set the tone for the game was Kendrick Perkins. He was aggressive on both ends of the court from start to finish and came up big (no pun intended) in the absence of Kevin Garnett. Perk is the team's enforcer, but he is proving that he is more than that and can do other things when the team needs him to. He is the ultimate role player in the Celtics' tradition.

Knicks at Celtics in Pictures
by FLCeltsFan 7:30 AM
After much discussion about Rondo's unwillingness to take open shots and contribute to the offense, came up big in this one. He was more aggressive than he has been all season so far and along with being more aggressive on offense, the rest of his game picked up as well. He finished with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals.
Doc once again opted to keep his second unit pretty much intact and went with Scal to start in place of the suspended Kevin Garnett and Scal responded with 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block along with some solid defense.
One of the keys was for the Celtics to crash the boards. Much of rebounding is effort and desire and in this game we often saw 3 or 4 white shirts going for the rebound against one blue one. The Celtics out-rebounded the Knicks 45-36.
Ray Allen had a solid game although he shot just 5-15 and was 0-3 from beyond the arc. He finished with 15 points,1 rebound, 4 assists and 1 steal.
Leon Powe led the bench to a very good night. Powe set the tone early after coming into the game and finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block. The bench was back to earlier form as they tallied a total of 34 points and 15 rebounds in this game.
The Celtics made up for the absence of KG as a team. No one player had to play superman. Pierce finished with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. He set the tone early with 9 points in the first quarter and then finished strong with 11 in the 4th quarter.
Tony Allen contributed 6 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 blocked shots and some defensive hustle to the win.
Perk was a beast in this game from start to finish. He scored 16 points on 7-9 shooting to go with 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks. He was aggressive on both ends of the court throughout. I love Perk!
