Game thoughts: Tonight was KG's 1000th game, making him the youngest player to play in 1000 games. After a sub par game against the Cavs, he looked good in this one with 18 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes. Ray also picked up his game after struggling on opening night, finishing with 14 points on 5-11 shooting.
Paul Pierce played the most minutes of the starters, going for 34 points. He played about 3 1/2 minutes with the second unit of House, Tony Allen, Big Baby and Leon Powe. However, it was Powe who led the team during this time, not Pierce.
There was an early Scalabrine sighting after he logged a DNP in the first game. With about 1:07 left in the first quarter, Scal entered the game to a standing ovation and chants of Scal-a-brin-e from the crowd. I can't quite figure out if the crowd really likes him or are just making fun of him. He had a typical Scal line with 6 minutes and no points, no rebounds, no anything. Even Gabe Pruitt had 3 points and 1 rebound in about the same amount of time. There was also a Patrick O'Bryant sighting and he finished with 1 point, 2 rebounds and 1 block in just over 3 minutes.
Much was made of the Derrick Rose/Rajon Rondo matchup. Derrick Rose is for real and looked very good. He is quick and able to get to the hoop, even through the Celtics tough defense. Rose finished with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Rondo had 4 fewer points but 4 more assists as he finished with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal.
Leon Powe continues to impress with 13 points and 6 rebounds in 18 minutes. This guy is incredible and KG is rubbing off on him as he has taken to howling after big baskets. I love this kid!! He has earned a prominent spot in the rotation.
The Celtics led the entire way in the 96-80 victory and once again, did it with defense. The Celtics out rebounded the Bulls 49-44 and shot 44% to only 30% by the Bulls. Cassell, Giddens and Walker were once again inactive and Doc played all 12 active players. The Celtics are 2-0 heading into tomorrow night's game against the Pacers. The Bulls drop to 1-1.
