Celtics Introduce Draft Picks

The Celtics introduced their 3 draft picks today at their practice facility in Waltham. JR Giddens will wear #4 (last worn by Ryan Gomes who has an offer from the Wolves to keep him), Erden chose #86 (uncharted territory), and Walker will wear #12 (late of Allan Ray and Ricky D). Giddens is expected to play in the Celtics' Rookie and Free Agent Camp that begins tomorrow. Walker will undergo surgery at the New England Baptist Hospital tomorrow and expects to be able to play basketball again in 3-4 weeks. Erden has one more year on his Turkish contract and is looking forward to coming to the NBA next season.
From the Globe:
In other news, the Celtics hung their 17th NBA Championship banner inside the practice facility today...Ainge said he has been in touch with free agents but didn't comment further. He also said the team made an undisclosed contract offer to unrestricted free agent James Posey. Danny is already contacting free agents. A few years ago, Danny was literally on The Mailman's doorstep to make an offer as soon as he was allowed to. I hope the offer he made to Posey was a good one. The Celtics need him back. The team did not extend a qualifying offer to Tony Allen, making him an unrestricted free agent. It is possible someone will make him an offer he can't refuse, but since Doc stressed that he wanted Tony back, the Celtics may offer him a make good contract at a lower amount than the 2.5 million they would have had to offer if they extended his current contract.
