Big problem on defensive end for Celtics vs. Pistons
FL's Take: Defense will be the key to this series. The Pistons picked up their defense and the Celtics lost focus on the offensive end. The Celtics stopped playing their defense and it allowed the Pistons to win in Boston. The team that plays defense the most consistently will win the series.

FL's Take: They showed some highlights from the '87 game between these two on NBA Daily and it brought back some good memories. Watching DJ pass the ball off the backboard to Bird inside was amazing. I loved the fire between these two teams in the 80's. I loved it when Bird finally had enough of Laimbeer's cheap shots and slugged him and when Chief did the same. These Pistons are just as arrogant and I would love nothing more than to see the Celtics take them out in this series.

FL's Take: The Celtics need to find someone off the bench to make an impact as well. Maybe it will be Sam if Doc goes to him instead of Eddie.
Game 3 outcome rests totally on defense
FL's Take: I couldn't agree more. Defense will decide the series. On the same note, the Celtics need to keep their composure and focus in order to not allow the Pistons defense to take them out of their game.

FL's Take: I think the fact that they lost on the Parquet and can't depend on home court any longer is the very thing the Celtics needed to finally pick up their game on the road and win one. They beat themselves in previous road games by not playing aggressively and not playing defense. With their backs against the wall, hopefully they will realize they have to bring it on the road also.

FL's Take: A break was probably the best thing for them because they are probably tired after playing 10 games in 18 days and fatigue could become a factor.

Put it all together, and it comes down to this: There will be no silver linings to this season if the Celtics fail to bring home banner No. 17. There will be no “moral victories” if they don’t win four games in the NBA Finals. And if they don’t win it all, nobody in green is allowed to say, “We still proved the experts wrong,” this because the experts didn’t have them winning it all in the first place.

It's worse than this. It will have been a colossal waste of time. It was fun, yes, but, you know, I spent a lot of time being a fan this year, and spent a lot of money on the Cs. If they don't win it all, I will consider it a poor return on my investment.

I agree that anything less than a championship is a failure. This is their best chance to win it all and if they don't, it will because of their failure to execute. They are capable of beating the Pistons and the Lakers and the Spurs. They did it in the regular season and they did it with defense. Their losses in the playoffs were the result of their own failure to play defense. They won't be beat, but they can beat themselves.
