Here are comments found around the Pistons message boards as they await their series with the Celtics. Some are very over confident and some are worried about the series. Pretty much the same as Celtics fans.
Are you ready for For the oncoming Celtics love-fest? It's gonna be all about the Celtics and the other team playing them. Be ready for it, it's gonna be as bad as listening to Johnny Most. When the Pistons walk out of Boston with a 2-0 or 1-1 lead, the love will be hard to spread. The Pistons are going to shock quite a few people this series. At least is isn't a Lebronfest. The National Media always roots for the opposing team. Let them love Boston. Who gives a damn End of the day pistons in 6. I think the only shot the Pistons have is to steal game 1. If they do that they'll probably win the series. Actually the Celtics scare me less than the Cavs . . .even though they have the better record and home court advantage. I just don't fear any of the Celtic's players The surprising part to me is that a lot of my friends that typically root against the Pistons, are rooting for the Pistons in this series. There are a lot of Celtic haters out there apparently. Posey and Powe. Two big time cheap shot artists. Look for them to be real physical. Don't forget about Perkins and House. Boston / LA is the dream final. THe two best franchises in league history...Wilt/Russell, Bird/Magic, now Kobe/Garnett. That's what the league wants. Too bad the Pistons will SPOIL IT ALL!!!! I think Detroit will win a game in Boston, and therefore, win the series. Boston will be hard pressed to win a game in Detroit. I'm not sure what their problem is.... So is Paul Pierce the truth again? That's two of the Big 3 playing well. We should get the guy that threw the cup flash some gang symbols at him with the intent of setting him off. Allen looks like **** but you have to expect the unexpected from him. We need Rip to run him ragged. They're not even playing that well at home. No Gibson, No Varajao and they still almost lost...color me unimpressed. Pistons in 5
The match-up everyone expected, is now a reality. Time to pounce is game 1. They are exuahsted, and we are rested.
Have to take game 1 or 2. Especially given the way Boston has played at home and away. If we win game 1 or 2, we win in 6. If we don't, we probably lose in 7. Pistons in 6. Boston is bogus. One of the reasons I'm confident the Pistons will win is that the Celtics are coached by one of the only guys in the League who can't outcoach Flip Saunders.
Everywhere I turn I'm hearing a ton of confidence that the Pistons are going to take this series. People are saying they wanted the Celtics, and they're happy the C's won. Even the majority of the ESPN "experts" are picking the Pistons. All I can is, "be careful what you wish for...". Celtics went 7 games against Cleveland, but did anyone watch that series? That was a grind-it-out, defensive series. Lebron broke out in game 7, but did you see the defense they laid down on him and the Cavs? Stiffling. We played Orlando and although we won 4-1, we didn't look dominant at all. In fact, that series was a couple of buckets away from going 7 games. The Cavs were a far more difficult opponent in terms of playoff basketball. Here are some regular season numbers to raise your eyebrows a bit: --They abosolutely killed us on the boards in all three regular season games, 137 to 108. The only one we were even close in was the one we won. --Tay was 7-30 in the season series. Ouch. --We shot 36%, 39%, and 40% against this team. They shot 46%, 40%, and 49% against us. --Points in the paint: Bos 32-18, Bos 44-30, Bos 38-14: That's a total of 114 to 62!
Watch out for the Posey cheap shot! He has at least 1 per series! Road team takes all this series. Pistons in 7 (in OT).
What on earth would make you think the Celtics can win in Detroit? THey couldn't win in Atlanta or Cleveland. Your home court is safe.
What makes us think that is that we're so used to the Pistons specializing in this kind of thing -- letting down and allowing a team who is winless on the road to beat us in our house.
I sure hope Paul Pierce blew it all on yesterday's game. That clown was unreal. You expect Lebron to do that, but not Pierce.
I must say, I will be very embarrassed when Boston wins their first away game against the Pistons. It is bound to happen. This might be a silly question but why does it always look dusty in Bostons games?
Because they use a ton of smoke for there pregame introductions.
I think all the Pistons players should wear surgical masks and goggles during intros.
Due to the "GENIUSES" that decide to add indoor HUGE arse "fireworks" in the small arse arena. TD Waterhouse arena's Boston Celtics Pre game intro is one of the Main reasons Emperor Palpastern wants to curb pyrotechnics in NBA games (that and because of NO, Spurs and Houston's Audio)
We have no excuse for losing game one....this Boston team should be pretty darn drained. If we can get one on the road this series can be over in 6 games. I really don't believe Boston can win on the road. But at the same time they don't half to as long as they protect there home court. If either team wins, it'll be tested or rested. If either team loses, it'll be tired or rusty. The excuses are built in for both teams. And we're no longer the underdogs. The nation thinks we're the favorites. I don't like this at all, but am still excited to see some games again. They key thing is Boston is very unexsperenced in the playoffs. You could see it at the end of game 7 against Cleveland most of them were celebrating like they won the ECF. Pierce proved to me he is still immature about the playoffs. All he could say after the game was that he was going to take all of that victory in and enjoy it. Sorry pierce but you got 4 more game to win you havent won anything yet. There is no time to enjoy anything cause now you have a 7 game series that means everything.
I'm glad the Pistons let the Celtics win the season series. The Celtics in their heads think they have seen the Pistons at their best when in fact the Pistons half *** played around in those games and still could have won the two they lost. The Celtics will soon find out what a real Piston team is like.
Boston should be drained? People don't realize man, this is like heaven to these guys. They get at least one day off between every game, this is rest in their minds. Boston won't be tired, they've played 14 games in about a month, wow! If I know the Pistons, and I think I do, they will be the first team to allow Boston a road win....
This series should go no longer than 7. Tayshaun has been phenomenal against Phili and Orlando.. He has been notoriously poor matching up against Paul Pierce though and has struggled big against Boston in general this season.
Pierce said in his postgame comments that he's glad this series with Cleveland is over and there won't be anyone who can defend him physically like Lebron. Prince is gunna swat this loser. As well as Tayshaun has been playing, I think he'll have his hands full with Pierce. I'd be satisfied if Prince can somehow make him a volume shooter even if it means allowing Pierce to average 25 ppg, just as long as he's taking 20+ shots and limiting his free throw attempts. But, I do fully expect Pierce to dominate this individual match-up.
He is bang up on his left side of his body I don't see him going to the hole a lot
This is how me, and my brother always reference him, becuase, well, he looks like one;
I think he looks like a turtle.
Listen, I am afraid more than anything. Not because I do not think that we are better than Boston, but because I have a feeling the NBA will do whatever it wants to do in making the ratings fly through the roof. This round may end up being harder than the actual Finals.
They got to be tired? Two 7 game series? RayRay looks spent, Cassel is worthless, our guys are all fresh, Billups is hopefully fully healed, we have to take this one!
There really is no reason why we should not even win the first game in Boston. They are just as old as we are, and just as tired. Maybe even more. What we have to worry about is Boston's bench and Rondo Ratliff is gonna have to shut down Garnett, which shouldn't be difficult, considering there have been several segments of Round 2 when Garnett couldn't score over Varjao. This will be good. Why is everyone forgetting that young, fast guards have proven that Chauncey cannot guard them. Rondo in particular has proven this. Now, I also agree that Rondo cannot guard Chauncey. But over on OUR defensive end, we should have Rip on Rondo, not the other-way-around. It would be stupid to put Chauncey on him. Ray Allen isn't hard to guard since he isn't a slasher. All he does is shoot jumpers. It would therefore be a better defensive match-up for Chauncey.
IT'S TIME TO BRING DOWN THE LOSSTON MELTICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
