Comments from the Other Side - Hawks Game 4

Another disappointing effort from the Celtics. There were A LOT of Spurs, Pistons, Magic, Raptors, and other fans posting well wishes to the Hawks fans and hoping for the Hawks to win the series. The Celtics may be one of the most hated teams in the league. All this talk of KG and Perk being suspended for game 5 is very unsettling. Here are comments found around the Hawks boards during game 4 with the Celtics. After game 3 they were all demanding Pierce be suspended for the gesture he made. Now, they are demanding KG be suspended for elbowing the ref during the altercation. I sure hope they don't suspend him.
Our athleticism is starting to give them problems and I am sure that the "war of words" isn't done. Lets get this game tomorrow, I will be in 412 again. Win this one and Doc better get presricption ear plugs for his team before Friday. Boston will pee their pants if we win game 4 or game 5. If you want to see a rowdy crowd wait til game 6. It will be hard beating Celtics 2 games in a row. For all the talk about Horford "stirring Paul Pierce up", no one has mentioned that we probably want that. The Cs win when they play like KG, selfless with crisp ball movement. Hopefully PP decides that he's been insulted and tries to take over from the get-go. The Celts fans are worried. The Lakers don't have any losses, the Spurs and Jazz both have one loss to better teams than us... Even Orlando has looked more dominant than the Cs. I still think they are the best team in the league by a good margin but its nice to see them sweat, nice to see them worry about other young teams pushing the pace. We need Bibby to step up today because the Celtics aren't going to let Josh Smith beat them again and one of Marvin or Childress needs to have a great game. Pistons fan here... Hope the Hawks slap the ugly right off Garnett's big dome. On CSS Bob Neal just said Paul Pierce was fined $25,000 for what the NBA deemed a gang sign.
Good for Zaza for standing up for himself there.
Joe deserves credit for getting into the middle of things and acting like a captain.
Boston is surely flustered and playing like thugs.
We're seeing the true colors of these 'class' guys on the Celtics.
We are looking like some thugs out there pushing the Celtics around and having them afraid to even shoot in the paint.
I will be the first to give it to him, Mike Woodson has done a great job with coaching and adjustments since game one.
Someone needs to stop this Kendrick Perkins I hate him so much.
This is why many of us wanted the Hawks to make the playoffs. They've learned how to play.
This reminds me of that scene in Rocky when Apollo's trainer says they don't know it's a show. They think it's a damn fight. Go Hawks. Let's keep it up.
Pierce dropping 40 my ASS. He missed a wide open layup LMAO.
If only Horford hadn't taunted Pierce... Then maybe the Hawks could have stopped Pierce... Take that you cocky Celtics fans!
"I don't think someone on a below 500 team deserves an all star bid" Still believe that Paul?? WAY TO CHOKE ON THE WIDE OPEN LAYUP!!!
Screw Boston.....Joe just killed their defense haha.
(from a Celtics fan) Your team is better than ours. I hope you will play Lebron and his team. We are out of gas.
(Also from a Celtics fan) Great game guys. See you in Boston. And to all the whiny Celtic fans who are proclaiming a Hawks' series victory, please stay here. Adios.
The Celts are strating to look fatigued (they're old and don't have a bench as well. )
Pierce completely dissapeared tonight. I expected better from him. Who falls over on a wide open layup?
The camera cut away after he missed the layup but I'm sure he was crying that he got fouled and NO ONE was anywhere close.
Even if the Hawks don't win this series they have shown the world how to defeat the Celtics. Keep this up. Run and force the Celtics to hit those outside shots and play the role of bully because that has worked wonders so far.
No "ball" dancing. No premature sweep talk. No giggling like schoolgirls from the bench. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see the Celtics come out in business suits Wednesday...because that's what it's all about now!
Garnette, Pierce and Allen all have been the guys to get the credit when their teams win when in reality they have never proven a thing.
Should we talk about the "Garnett pushing the ref" thing,
I don't recall that happening. I do hope they don't go severely overboard and make an issue of Perkins/Marvin stepping onto the court. That was completely retarded for TNT to even bring that up. Not that I didn't weigh the scenario out in my head.
I think them losing Perkins would hurt them more than us losing Marvin. But it would still suck.
That was my intial reaction, but Marvin's defense on Pierce can't be overlooked. They have depth to replace Perkins, we basically lose our bench if Marvin goes and Pierce has his easiest game yet. As far as the KG thing, meh. I doubt they'll suspend him and I would be fine with that.
Wow. It did look like KG pushed that ref from looking at the video.
It's going to be interesting to see how the NBA deals with KG pushing the ref and Marvin and Perkins stepping on the court.
So Garnett elbowed the ref and just stood there when Zaza got in his face and told him "I'll **** you up"? It's hilarious when players don't do anything but then try to go after some one when they know they are being held back. I don't think Stern will suspend him unless it get's a strong buzz nationally(did TNT mention it?) and he's forced to do something.
They shouldn't do nothing to Marv, he was just standing there. Perkins was headed to the court.
KG really strong armed the ref! I can't believe I missed that. Garnett should be hearing from the league tonight or tomorrow.
Don't want the Hawks to beat a team this way, so I hope he's not suspended. It was like stepping into an alternate world listening to that broadcast, however. Somehow "Zaza instigated this." If anything, it was good post D.
With the Celtics being the league's darlings, I wouldn't be surprised if nothing happens. The hawks need to send the tape (or the link to this post) to the league...
Plain as day that KG pushed the ref with force, not once, but twice. If the Hawks had done this Danny Ainge would already be in NY making the league watch the video.
Don't think KG will get suspended. He's in pretty much every playoff advertisement the NBA is running. If KG got suspended, and then Boston lost Game 5...Stern would be bashed on every sports show outside of Atlanta. Political suicide for him.
I'm more hopeful about Kendrick Perkins, though. He left the bench during an altercation, and David Stern said that's a black/white rule when Amare did. Then again, Perkins really doesn't deserve to be suspended because he just took a step onto the court and then stood there for a few seconds until Doc gently pulled him back toward the bench.
KG on the court: +15.2 KG off the court: +3.1 He is worth 12 points to the Celtics!
If the league does not punish Garnett for that there will be ALOT of people saying THE NBA wants the Lakers and Celtics in the Finals and will be crooked, if needed, to get it. Suspend Garnett. Stern was actually at the game last night. So he can't pretend he didn't see it !
I'm hoping for no suspensions. You think the league is going to screw the Celts? No way. We get screwed on this deal. They could suspend Z, Garnett, JJ and Perkins. If they were smart they wouldn't suspend anyone. It wasn't that big of deal. I wish Z hadn't got in his face. I don't blame him (and he's been playing great) but it would have been better for us just to make Garnett look like the hot head frustrated guy rather than an altercation.
Magic Johnson got suspended for like 4 games for bumping a ref...
Garnett should and WILL get suspended. Stern is a stickler for the rules NO MATTER WHO IT IS !
Mike and Mike on ESPN are discussing the issue right now. Golic said that the referee was not the "ire of Kevin Garnett," and shouldn't be suspended. He seems to think that the anger has to be directed at the ref for the rule to come in place, but since Garnett was going for a Hawks player, the push on the ref wasn't punishable. Greenberg read the rule, and said that the league "will have some explaining to do" if he is not suspended. They both agreed that it definitely was a "push," and that it was "intentional."
