The Celtics will be playing the Sixers on Monday night and I started thinking about why the Sixers are inexplicably playing so well. They have won 3 in a row and are in the thick of the playoff race, currently in 7th place. So, what is the secret of their success? I think I found the answer.
The Sixers have a secret weapon called Reggie Evans. Here is a look at Reggie in action:
Now who is going to get in close and challenge that guy for a rebound or loose ball? (no pun intended)
It is funny that Doc is one of the commentators and just cracking up over this. It is also interesting that they mention an incident with Kevin Garnett as well. I didn't remember anything like that and checked into it. It seems that during Denver's 2004 playoff series with Minnesota Francisco Elson got very physical in his attempts to contain KG. Elson knocked Garnett into the seats behind the basket with a hard foul early in a game and later in the game, Elson was hit in the groin by Garnett. Elson caused controversy when he called KG gay for the groin shot. But playoff tales is a story for another day.
For now, we are going up against a surging Philadelphia team and better watch out for Reggie Evans. But, it turns out that Reggie better watch out for KG as well.
