Herald C's court an advantage FL's Take: Even though each team has won on the other's floor, home court is an advantage. Home teams tend to get more calls from the refs, the crowd can give an extra boost, and familiarity with the court is an advantage. In Bob Ryan's book he describes how refs can get carried along with the home crowd and make momentum calls. The home crowd can be huge when it comes to the calls in the playoffs. Home court is big and tonight's game is huge to give them that home court advantage in the playoffs. With a win, the Celtics to to 4 games up on the Pistons and own the tie breaker if they should end up with the same record. With a loss, the Pistons move to within 2 games and own that all important tie breaker. Signs don't point to Cassell's debut FL's Take: It may be just as well that Sam isn't in town because without any practice with the team to learn the plays, he could interrupt the Celtics' chemistry rather than help it. I can't wait until both PJ and Sam play though because I think both are going to help this team a lot. It seems just like old times New big three vs big three Globe Regular? No, it's extra-large FL's Take: Tonight's game is the biggest regular season game of the season. The Celtics may have a slight advantage in that the Pistons played a tough game last night against the Sonics and had to travel to Boston. Fatigue could be a problem for the Pistons, but rust could be a problem for the Celtics. The Pistons are 9-5 in the second of back to back games and the Celtics are 8-5 in games where they had the previous 2 days off. Motivation shouldn't be a problem for either team. Cassell knows role but can't act right away FL's Take: It is good to read that Cassell says he knows his role, I just hope he isn't just talking and really means it. This team is made up of players who all know their roles and have settled into them very well. They don't need a player who tries to go outside of their role. Pistons' hearts will be pumping tonight Re-match game MetroWest Daily This one will settle score CelticsBlog Q&A with Detroit Bad Boys Celtics.com Post ups notebook - Tuesday practice Detroit Free Press With Celtics looming, Amir Johnson stars in comeback win Connecticut Post Boston-Detroit: Round 3 Patriot Ledger Celtics host Pistons without Cassell Rondo secure in his spot FL's Take: Rondo has earned his spot and against most teams, he will have the advantage with his speed. The one team where Sam may have an advantage is against the Pistons because of Billups strength and experience. Hoopsvibe Buyer beware: Celtics taking risk with Cassell Enterprise C’s rev up for showdown with the Pistons Doc in no hurry to put Cassell on the court Boston Now Celtics emulate the Pistons' consistency FL's Take: The Pistons' starting five has been together for years. They have the advantage in experience. The Celtics have to make up for it with intensity and communication on the court. Celtics built for the playoffs (Gilroy) FL's Take: The one worry I have about the playoffs is coaching. Can Doc prevail in a 7 game series against Flip Saunders or Phil Jackson or any of the other top coaches? I sure hope so.
