Here are comments found around the Grizzlies boards during their game with the Celtics. My heart goes out to the Grizzlies' fans. The Celtics are riding high right now, but I remember all too well the last 20 years when we were right there where they are. Unfortunately, they have Chris Wallace, who was responsible for some of Boston's woes, as their GM so it may not get better for them in the immediate future as seen by the fact that he already gave away their best player for nothing. Enjoy the comments
The last matchup between these two teams. The Celts had to fight hard for the last win. Ray Allen struggled terribly and I think Tony Allen had to bailed the Celts out for the win.
I liked Memphis before they gave Gasol to Lakers for nothing. Now, they don`t deserve a top 3 pick! Wallace doesn`t deserve a top 3 pick! Mark this one a W. Our zone defense will frustrate Celtic's big three. Playing zone against a perimeter shooting team isn't the answer. The only good thing is this is a 2nd from a back-2-back for Boston. Unfortunately for Memphis fans this means they will probably see very brief appearances of the Big Three. Get ready to be (re)acquainted with Leon Powe, Glen Davis, PJ Brown, Tony Allen, and if you're lucky, James Posey! I don't think that playing our best will be enough against these Celtics. IMO they're the best team in this league by far, and it's not only stats what makes me believe so. But anyway, it'll be fun to watch and see our effort. Question: Why is Cassell not in the starting lineup? Because he's the 2nd best PG on the team. Wait... Didn't we just play the Bulls...? Weren't we down by like 30 to them at one point?!?!? Does this mean we will be losing by about 60 at some point tomorrow!?!? OH GOD!!! I think we have a decent chance at pulling this one off. The Celtics are better than the Grizzlies offensively and defensively so no. Rondo vs Conley Offensively: Rondo Defensively: Rondo
Allen vs Miller Offensively: Allen Defensively: Allen
Pierce vs Gay Offensively: Pierce Defensively: Pierce
Garnett vs Warrick Offensively: Garnett Defensively: Garnett
Perkins vs Darko Offensively: Perkins Defensively: Tie
Bench Offensively: Celtics Defensively: Celtics
Coach: Celtics
Toughness: Celtics
Leadership: Celtics
Not really any advantages for the Grizzlies. Just one....
Pretty sure Cardinal and Scalabrine cancel each other out.... So we don't even have a leg up on them on sorriest player I don't know, Scalabrini can hit a 3 every now and then Our players are better-looking than theirs. The Celtics are scoring at will. Teams have been scoring at will against the Grizzlies for the last 2 years. This isn't anything new. Boston is getting into foul trouble early. I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and say that that probably won't matter... There is no way there were this many Celtics "fans" in Memphis before this year. I can't stand those idiot fair-weather people who just jump on whatever bandwagon is the most popular. I asked a couple kids why they like Lakers, they said: "cuz they gots Kobe and Gasol. When bynum comes back, it's over." I asked why he makes a difference, they say: "cuz he's got length." So Shawn Bradley made a difference? That dunk by KG was sick. Brought quite a reaction from the crowd.
Had a bit of a bad knight against a pretty good veteran team.
Stat of the night was 18,119 which was the attendance
I just would not have believed that more than 18,000 people in Memphis could not find anything better to do.
At least a quarter of them were enjoying themselves tremendously. I've never seen so many Celtics jerseys/t-shirts/hats/etc. In one place in my life.
